Woman charged with attempted murder for failed abortion

Woman charged with attempted murder for failed abortion

A 31-year-old Murfreesboro woman was arrested Wednesday and charged with attempted first-degree murder after a failed attempt to end her pregnancy, according to a report from the Murfreesboro Police Department.
Anna Yocca of Swindon Circle is accused of using a coat hanger to end her pregnancy in September, Detective Tommy Roberts reported. She was 24 weeks pregnant then.

Yocca was indicted by the Rutherford County grand jury in December and is being held in the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center on $200,000 bond. Her court date was set for Dec. 21.
Roberts reported Yocca filled a bathtub with water, “took a coat hanger and attempted to self-abort her pregnancy.” Because of the amount of blood, she “became concerned about her safety” and her boyfriend took her to Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital.

Yocca was transported to Saint Thomas Midtown in Nashville where medical professionals were able to save the child, who weighed 1.5 pounds.
Roberts said he interviewed doctors and nurses who reported Yocca said she wanted to terminate the pregnancy.
“Although Saint Thomas Midtown was able to save ‘Baby Yocca,’ they indicated to me that his quality of life will be forever harmed,” Roberts said.
Doctors at Saint Thomas Midtown told Roberts the child will need continued medical support for the remainder of his life because of injuries sustained in the attempt.

Daily Independent, Peoples Daily newspaper, New Telgraph deny receiving N10m compensation from Obaigbena

The managements of Peoples Media Limited, publishers of Peoples Daily; Daily Telegraph Publishing Company Limited, publishers of New Telegraph, Saturday Telegraph and Sunday Telegraph, and Independent Newspapers Limited, publishers of Daily Independent newspapers, have all come out to publicly deny Nduka Obaigbena's claims that he gave them N10 million each from embattled former National Security Adviser NSA Sambo Dasuki as compensation for the military confiscation of their dailies in June last year.
TThe Chief Operating Officer of the Peoples Daily newspaper, Ali Ali, in a statement released yesterday refuted claims of receiving any money for compensation from the last government.“One of the revelations on the current inquisition of the tenure of the former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd) is that this newspaper, among several other national dailies, received the sum of N10million from the office of the former NSA through Nduka Obaigbena, the President of Newspapers Proprietors Association of Nigeria, NPAN.

This is news to us. At no time was such money made available to us in whatever guise. We wish to state clearly that it is false and therefore, wish to completely distance this medium from this revelation. We don’t know of others, therefore, we can’t speak for them,”.

Also the Managing Director/ Editor-in-Chief of New Telegraph, Funke Egbemode, in a statement denied claims of receiving any money from Obaigbena. The statement reads

“Our attention has been drawn to the inclusion of New Telegraph Newspapers on the list of media houses that THISDAY Publisher and President, Newspapers Proprietors’ Association of Nigeria (NPAN) claimed he paid N10 million each to, from funds he received from the immediate past National Security Adviser (NSA), Col  Sambo Dasuki (retd), as compensation for the illegal seizure of some newspapers by the military during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

“It is on record that following the decision of NPAN to seek compensation from the Federal Government  in the aftermath of the seizure of editions of newspapers by the military, New Telegraph computed its losses, which were passed to the association. However, since then, the company has heard nothing from the association on the matter. Following a report that NPAN has begun paying N9 million (not N10 million as contained in the report that has gone viral on the internet), the management of Daily Telegraph Publishing Company Limited, publishers of New Telegraph, SaturdayTelegraph and Sunday Telegraph, has written three letters to NPAN for its share of the compensation; but regrettably, as at this moment, not even a kobo has been received. The first letter was written on May 22, 2015 followed by another on July 16, 2015 with a reminder written on November 19, 2015. Therefore, it is nothing but sheer falsehood for the NPAN president, who claimed he received the money on behalf of the association, to have included New Telegraph Newspapers as one of the beneficiaries of the funds, which as it has now emerged, was disbursed by the former NSA.”

Chief Executive Officer of Independent Newspapers Limited, publishers of Daily Independent newspapers, Ted Iwere has also denied the claims of receiving any N10 million as compensation from Obaigbena

Photos: Pastor’s son beheads 11-year-old girl in Delta state for ritual

The Delta state Police command have arrested 15 year old Silas Anidi, the only son of the General Overseer of God Peculiar Evangelical Ministry, Sapele, Delta State, for beheading 11-year-old Aghogho Igbi and was about to do same to the deceased’s sister, Favour, when neighbours intervened and got him arrested.

According to The Sun, when interrogated, Silas said he was lured to commit the crime by his friend, Christian.

"It was his brother who is in Ghana that gave us the contract. He promised to pay us N50,000 and also help us to relocate to Ghana. I started monitoring the Igbi’s family because I know that they used to leave their children at home and go out. Luckily on November 28, 2015, I visited their house and as God will have it, their elder sister, Janet said that she wanted to go to school for evening lesson. I was excited that I was left alone with the much younger ones. I sat down on the rug and was watching cartoon network with Aghogho. While she was busy enjoying herself, I dragged her head back and sliced her throat. I rushed to the next room where Favour was sleeping and tried to do the same but she woke up and started struggling with me. I tried to slice her throat but she started screaming. I only managed to stab her in the head but her screams were too much that neighbours were attracted. I was about to escape when neighbours caught me. I am the son of the General Overseer of God Peculiar Evangelical Ministry, Sapele, Delta State. I am ashame of myself because my family especially my dad will be disappointed in me. I was not satisfied with the little money that we made in the church that is why I wanted to travel to Ghana to make money. I was deceived that until we get human head that we will not succeed. He promised to pay N50,000 for each human head”, he confessed.

Favour, the sister of the deceased who survived the attack said “We attended church vigil the previous night and I was in the room sleeping. I heard when someone was at the door, but since my sisters were around I assumed that they will attend to the visitor. I heard when my elder sister, Janet left the house and told Silas to relax since he is a close friend of the family. In less than 10 minutes, I noticed that someone was trying to suffocate me with the pillow. I was shocked that it was Silas but since it was no longer a joke, I struggled to free myself from his grip. I kept screaming and he used a knife to stab me in the head. I was lucky that someone heard my voice and rushed to the room. He was later arrested while he was trying to escape through the roof. I rushed out to the palour and saw that he had beheaded my sister. I don’t know the kind of devil that entered into him that he had to kill my sister,” she said crying

The Delta state Police Commissioner, Usman Baba Alkali  while confirming the incident, said investigation was ongoing while detectives are still on the trail of Silas's accomplice, Christian and his brother who is based in Ghana.

Meet the woman who allegedly broke Diddy and Cassie up

Meet the woman who allegedly broke Diddy and Cassie up

Cassie announced yesterday that she was single again and many thought it was because of Diddy's renewed relationship with his babymama, Kim Porter, but according to blogger B. Scott, it's a lady named Gina (left). What they wrote below...

Cassie broke up with Diddy the Sunday after his Revolt Music Conference in Miami because while he was there — he had another woman with him! Not only that, but the same woman was with him the weekend prior in Atlanta for the BET Hip Hop Awards.

Her name is Gina Huynh and she’s been around for awhile. Last year, Diddy took Gina and her friends to the All-Star game in New Orleans. Word reportedly got back to one of Cassie’s homegirls and sh*t hit the fan, but they were able to move past it.
Anyway, after Cassie found out that the two rekindled back in October she shut things down with Diddy and skipped away to South Africa to film ‘Honey 3.’ Since she’s been out of the country, she’s refused to take his calls, answer his texts, and she even went as far as to block her management so that they wouldn’t contact her on his behalf!
If you were wondering where those thousands of roses came from that appeared on Cassie’s Snapchat — they were from Diddy trying to reach out.

However, Cassie’s tired of his sh*t and this Gina girl really is the last straw. There’s also been some chatter about Diddy getting to close to his VP Ericka Pittman.

Anyone can see that the two have been rocky. She was absent from ALL of Diddy’s birthday festivities and the one acknowledgement of his birthday she gave was a friendly Instagram shout-out that’s since been deleted.

Premier League round up: Ighalo scores again, while Man U lose 1-2 to Bournemouth

Premier League round up: Ighalo scores again, while Man U lose 1-2 to Bournemouth

It was another interesting weekend of Premier League football as Nigeria's Odion Ighalo helped Watford record a win away from home with a solitary goal while Manchester United plunged new depths with a miserable performance that culminated in a 2-1 loss to Premier League entrants, Bournemouth.

Ighalo, who can't just stop scoring goals in 2015, scored his 26th in the calendar year and demonstrated the instinct and unique sharpness that has made him such a threat, maybe Manchester United will do much with the Nigerian in their side.

Manchester United without about 7first team regulars looked incapable of mounting sufficient pressure on Bournemouth as they could only watch forner player King, score against them.

The calls asking for Louis Van Gaal to be sacked will only grow louder now.

For a team built with £2.5m compared to Manchester United's £300m,van Gaal should be preparing for the sack anytime from now.

Players like Juan Mata and Wayne Rooney planned clubbing this weekend but changed plans after they were eliminated from the Champions League by Wolfsburg, but that didn't stop their partners from having a swell time together. Rooney, Mata, Young, Carrick,Martial and other players were represented by their partners as they met in an Asian restaurant for dinner. Photos after the jump...
