OAU cancels automatic employment for First Class graduates

According to the Vice-Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Bamitale Omole, the university can no longer give automatic jobs to First Class graduating students in line with its tradition. This is because of the economic down turn, which has affected the university’s finances.

According to Premium Times, there were mixed reactions on the decision of the university to stop the automatic employment scheme. While some students saw it as unfair and inconsistent, others supported the school’s decision. Some argued that 'it was an error to think that only a First Class graduate could better impact the needed academic knowledge.

24-hr electricity coming to Lagos? Ambode inaugurates committee to boost power supply to households, businesses

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, on Thursday inaugurates committee to boost household and business power supply, with a charge on them to work assiduously to create an enabling environment that will ensure 24-hour power supply to residents in the state.

The Governor who spoke at the Lagos House, Ikeja while inaugurating the Power Committee said it was a common knowledge that power supply is a major challenge, adding that it must be addressed in order to achieve sustainable economic growth and development in Nigeria and Lagos State in particular.

He said that in view of the importance of the Lagos economy to the nation and the concerns that have been expressed particularly by the business community, his administration has considered it expedient to constitute an advisory committee on power, adding that no state in the federation is more affected by the state of the power sector than Lagos.

The Governor said that Lagos State accounts for over 60 percent of the industrial and commercial activities in Nigeria, emphasizing that the energy requirement for the state is estimated at about 5,000 Mega Watts of which only about 1000 Mega Watts is currently being supplied; hence the need to inaugurate a committee that would ensure the power need of the people is met.

He said members of the Committee consist of representatives from the State Government and industry experts from the private sector urging them to provide a sustainable guide in the development of a roadmap for reliable power supply in the state, foster collaboration and develop a congress or platform for all major power stakeholders in the state and the private sector.

Members of the Committee include the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Mrs. Oluranti Adebule, the Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Mr. Wale Oluwo, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Adeniji Kazeem and the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde.

Other members of the committee include representatives of Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company,   Eko Electricity Distribution Company, Transmission Company of Nigeria, Gaslink Nigeria Limited, Falcon Corporation Limited and Egbin Power Plc.

Governor Ambode, shortly after the inauguration tasked the committee to make electricity available to Lagosians for both business and domestic use, just as he expressed confidence that they would not disappoint Lagosians.

The Governor also hinted that in order to underscore his administration’s commitment to security of the lives and property, his administration has embarked on an aggressive programme of lighting up Lagos and explained that major highways and streets are being connected  from point to point using Independent Power Projects (IPPs) and other means effectively.

He also encouraged individuals, private homes and corporate organizations to take up streets or roads of their choice and light them up with connections to their meters and generators, assuring that the state government will reciprocate the gesture by giving concessions to them in the payment of their annual Land Use Charges.

“In addition, they shall receive Special Commendation letters from the Governor. Such projects will also be commissioned by government officials and Community Development Associations. We believe that this initiative will promote a new culture of co-operation and ownership”, he said.

Earlier, Commissioner for Energy, Mr. Wale Oluwo said with the success of the IPPs, the state which provides 24-hour power supply to public facilities, the state government is working towards ensuring that residents in the state can enjoy regular power supply in their homes.

The Supreme Court sitting in Abuja on Thursday fixed February 26, 2016 for judgment in the appeal filed by the General Overseer of the Christian Praying Assembly, Rev. Chukwuemeka Ezeugo, a.k.a Reverend King challenging the judgement of a Lagos High Court sentencing him to death by hanging. The apex court presided over by Justice Walter Onoghen adjourned for judgment after entertaining arguments from counsel to prosecution and defence in the matter.

Lagos State Attorney general and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Adeniji Kazeem, who appeared before the Supreme Court alongside Mrs. Idowu Alakija, the Director of Public Prosecution  and other Senior Counsel in the State, urged the court to dismiss the appeal and uphold the judgment of the lower courts.

Ezeugo was arraigned on September 26, 2006 on a six-count charge of attempted murder and murder.

He pleaded not guilty to the allegation but was sentenced to death by the then Justice Joseph Oyewole of Lagos State High Court, Ikeja, on January 11, 2007 for the murder of one of his church members, Ann Uzoh.

Justice Oyewole is now a judge of Appeal Court sitting in the Calabar division.
The Lagos State Government had said that the convict poured petrol on the deceased and five other persons and that Uzoh died on August 2, 2006; 11 days after the act was perpetrated on her.

Specifically, Ezeugo was convicted and sentenced to 20 years imprisonment for the attempted murder and death by hanging for the offence of murder.
Dissatisfied, Ezeugo challenged the verdict before the Court of Appeal in Lagos, but the appeal was thrown out.

’’I hereby rule that the prosecution effectively discharged the burden of proof on it. This appeal is devoid of any basis and accordingly fails.

“The judgment of the High Court is hereby affirmed, and the conviction imposed on the appellant, (which is death by hanging) is also affirmed,” Justice Fatimo Akinbami who read the judgement held. The two other members of the panel of Justices, Amina Augie and Ibrahim Saulawa concurred with the lead judgement.

Again, Ezeugo not being satisfied with the verdict, approach the Supreme Court, and urged that the judgment be upturned.

The apex court has now reserved judgment.

Photos and report as shared by Blessing Oyanimigha on Facebook today Thursday, December 10.

"On the 5th of dec, 2015, Bayelsa guber polls election in Oporoma, southern-ijaw headquaters unveiled on a bloody note with four persons gunned down and others sustaining various degrees of injuries from stray bullets and machetes, meted out on them by APC led militants on the order of Donald Egberien, former SSG Gideon Ekewei," she wrote.

Investigation revealed that, two buildings located in Oporoma belonging to Donald Egberibien and Mr Omiehi aka 'Oma tein kpo tein' was used as hide-out for militants, hoodlums imported into the town by APC chieftains, Donald Egberibien and Gideon Ekewei with the sole aim of disrupting the distribution of election materials and inflicting fear on potential voters.

Bayelsa election: Install Timpreye Sylva and this country will go up in flames- Asari tells Buhari

Bayelsa election: Install Timpreye Sylva and this country will go up in flames- Asari tells Buhari

Former Leader of Niger Delta militant group MEND, Asari Dokubo has asked the Buhari led government to hands off the state governorship election or risk the whole country going up in flames.

In a statement he released today December 7th, Asari accused the Federal government of trying to rig the state governorship election to install APC governorship candidate Timpreye Sylva, an action he described as against the will of the people. He stated that any action in this direction will lead to a crisis that will make Boko Haram be described as a child's play.

"If by next week the Federal Government does not hands off from the Bayelsa polls by allowing the people to freely choose their leader but still interfering through the observed various guises and deception, then we would have no option than to return to the creeks to press for our rights as patriotic citizens being unduly oppressed and dehumanized all in the name of politics. We have said it before that President Buhari is executing an anti-Ijaw agenda and his aim is to steal our God-given resources to rebuild the north destroyed by Boko Haram. That is why he is hell-bent on manipulating the electoral process in Bayelsa State and hand it over to the APC. They are exploiting Sylva’s greed and desperation for power and therefore using him to carry out their evil agenda. But we want them to know that this country will go up in flames if they try it. Boko Haram will be a child’s play if President Buhari and his APC think they can upturn the people’s mandate. It would be a grave injustice which can never stand. We are Ijaw people and we have never been conquered”.

Aari stated that results collated and announced so far by INEC have shown that the incumbent governor and PDP’s candidate, Governor Seriake Dickson, had won 6 of the 7 local governments with a margin of 33,154 votes and has thus fulfilled constitutional requirement of 2/3 spread and popular votes. INEC had earlier this week canceled the election in Southern Ijaw local government area and declared the governorship election inconclusive.

Husband arrested for watching and recording his dying wife without offering help

Husband arrested for watching and recording his dying wife without offering help

29-year-old businessman, Oluchi Ajimowu, has been arrested by the State Department for Criminal Investigation, Yaba, Lagos, for his alleged involvement in the death of his wife, 23 year old Priscillia Ajimowu. The couple lived with their children in Festac, Lagos before the wife's demise.

The police think that Ajimowu either slammed his wife’s head on the floor, or the mother of two poisoned herself due to frustrations in her marriage.

Ajimowu claims that he had locked his wife in her room on November 29, seized her phone and went out with their two children, after they arrived from their outing, he reportedly met his wife foaming in the mouth.

His wife who was a nurse had asked to be taken to the hospital, but he allegedly refused, instead he gave her palm oil and recorded her with his phone for about 40 minutes until she died.

It was gathered that prior to her death, Ajimowu had battered and subjected the deceased to inhuman treatment throughout the four years they spent in South Africa.

They decided to relocate to Nigeria. Ajimowu arrived four months ago while the wife arrived on November 27, two days before her death.

It was gathered that Ajimowu had put their house for sale shortly after the wife’s death.

The couple’s oldest child, seven-year-old Ella, said that there was a pesticide and a drink in the room where her mother was on the fateful day, adding that her father was “not nice to my mother” while they were in South Africa.

She said:

“Dad used to shout at mummy and beat her and she would be crying. That day we left her alone in the house. Daddy took the keys and mummy’s phone and locked mummy inside.

“When we came back home, daddy parked outside, locked us inside the car and went inside. After that, he called us to ‘come, come and see your mummy on the floor’. Mummy was saying, ‘Take me to hospital, I’m tired’. He started videoing her. He gave her red oil, but she spat it out. Her body was cold.”

The deceased’s mother, Mrs. Stella Ayobo, said her daughter had planned to visit her on the fateful day, but had cancelled the visit.

She added that Priscillia had not been happy throughout her 7 year marriage to Ajimowu . She added that Oluchi had shortly after his wife’s death reported at the Aguda Police Division, saying a friend took poison and died in his house.

She said:

“Four years ago, they went to South Africa. She always called me to report how Oluchi maltreated her.

“She came back to Nigeria on November 27. She visited me on November 28 and promised to visit me again the following day, being a Sunday. But that day, around 8am, she called me that she would not be able to come again and promised to come with her children on Friday.

“Around 8pm that Sunday, her husband called me that she had been vomiting since morning and I told him to take her to the nearest hospital. He later called me and said it was a poison she took. I told him to bring her. By the time he brought her, she was dead. We took her to a hospital and the doctor said she had died.

“He went to the Aguda Police Station to report that a girl visited him from South Africa, took poison and died in his house.”

The mother urged the police to investigate the matter in order to give justice to the family.

Priscillia’s older sister, Mrs. Emenike Dorcas, said Ajimowu had convinced her sister to come to Nigeria under the pretext that he would open a chemist’s shop for her.

She added:

“I reported the incident to the police at Satellite Town and Aguda divisions. Policemen at Aguda were surprised when they eventually knew the truth of the matter,”.

Priscilla’s uncle, Francis Ayobo, said the suspect was not remorseful after his wife’s death.

He said:

“It is so surprising that the wife was dying and the husband started videoing her. The videos were more than 40 minutes. He sent it to Priscillia’s sister in South Africa. By that time he would have rushed her to a hospital for treatment.

“I noticed that about three other guys were in the background of one of the video because somebody was giving her water and she was foaming in the mouth. Those things should be questioned. He was handed over to SDCI on Wednesday.”

The Lagos State Police spokesperson, DSP Joe Offor, said the Aguda Police Station arrested the husband and have handed him over to the Satellite Town Police Division.

Mark Zuckerberg speaks out in support of Muslims. "As a Jew, my parents taught me to stand up against attacks on all communities"

Following the Paris and San Bernadino attacks, Muslims have been criticized all over the the world. The CEO of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg took to his official page on Wednesday, December 9, to show his support for the Muslim communities.

"I want to add my voice in support of Muslims in our community and around the world," He wrote. "After the Paris attacks and hate this week, I can only imagine the fear Muslims feel that they will be persecuted for the actions of others.
As a Jew, my parents taught me that we must stand up against attacks on all communities. Even if an attack isn't against you today, in time attacks on freedom for anyone will hurt everyone. If you're a Muslim in this community, as the leader of Facebook I want you to know that you are always welcome here and that we will fight to protect your rights and create a peaceful and safe environment for you. Having a child has given us so much hope, but the hate of some can make it easy to succumb to cynicism. We must not lose hope. As long as we stand together and see the good in each other, we can build a better world for all people."

A young lady identified as Yemisi Arogbonlo, a medical student at a University in Nassarawa state (pictured above) allegedly poured boiling hot water on her stepsister on December 4th while she was sleeping at the home they share together. The half-sisters share same dad but not same mother.

Yemisi attacked 32 year old Funke over a disagreement she had with Funke's mother Victoria at their home in Port Harcourt, Rivers state.

According to family sources, sometime in September while Yemisi was in school, Funke and Yemisi's mother, Victoria had an argument and in the process, Victoria fell and hit her head on the floor. She reported the matter to her daughter who was far away in school. When Yemisi returned from school on Friday December 4th, Funke explained to her that it was while she was trying to dodge a slap from her mother that she fell and hit her head on the floor. Yemisi behaved as if she was satisfied with the explanation and asked Funke to forget the matter based on the fact that they were sisters. Unknown to Funke, Yemisi had planned to attack her for making her mother fall to the ground.

In the night when everyone was asleep, Yemisi allegedly boiled hot water, sneaked into Funke's room and emptied the hot water on her sister. According to the victim, she knew it was her sister because immediately she felt the water on her body, she opened her eyes and the first person she saw was Yemisi.

The victim is now receiving treatment at a specialist hospital in Port Harcourt with her biological mother by her side. No arrest has been made but the matter has been reported at the Ada George Police station.

Meet world's first test tube puppies (photos)

A team of veterinarians, scientists and lab workers gathered around a surrogate hound and watched her give birth to seven half-pound puppies, the first dogs ever conceived in a test tube.

"We each took a puppy and rubbed it with a little towel and when it started to squiggle and cry, we knew we had success," said Dr. Alexander Travis, who runs the lab at the Baker Institute for Animal Health at Cornell University's College of Veterinary Medicine in Ithaca, New York.

"Their eyes were closed. They were just adorable, cute, with smooshed-in faces. We checked them to make sure they looked normal and were all breathing," he said.

The puppies born July 10 are a mix of beagle, Labrador and cocker spaniel and are now healthy 5-month-olds, Travis said. All but one female were adopted. She's being kept by the lab to have her own litter.

The lab kept track of the puppies by painting their nails with different color polish. Travis adopted two, still known by their nail polish names, Red and Green.

In vitro fertilization, the process of fertilizing an egg with sperm outside the body, is widely used to assist human reproduction these days. The first human birth from IVF took place in 1978.

But IVF efforts with dogs repeatedly failed until now, according to Dr. Pierre Comizzoli, a reproductive physiologist for the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute in Front Royal, Virginia, which works with Cornell.

"The biology of the dog is really, really different than humans," Comizzoli said. Dog pregnancies last only two months and females go into heat just once or twice a year, releasing immature eggs instead of mature eggs needed for IVF.

Senegal 0-1 Nigeria : U23 Nigeria team qualify for Rio Olympics

Senegal 0-1 Nigeria : U23 Nigeria team qualify for Rio Olympics

Nigeria's Olympic team last night qualified for next year’s Rio Olympics after they beat hosts Senegal 1-0 through a penalty by captain Oghenekaro Etebo in the ongoing Africa under 23 championship in Senegal.

Nigeria will clash with Algeria in the final on Saturday after Algeria beat South Africa 2-0 in the other semi final clash last night.

Nigeria’s hero in the match was goalkeeper Emmanuel Daniel, who saved a penalty in first half stoppage to hold hosts Senegal 0-0 after the first period and coach Samson Siasia was quick to praise the Enugu Rangers goalkeeper.

“I’m very happy to win against Senegal again after the Africa Cup of Nations in 1992 and achieving our objective, which was to qualify for the Olympics, ” Siasia said to cafonline.com. “I think the ‘gods of football’ were with my team today because Senegal created most of the chances but they failed to score. Emmanuel Daniel (Goalkeeper) kept us in the match as he made some brilliant saves today. On another day, we could’ve been embarrassed. We did the best we could because we had lots of injuries heading into this match but I hope that Senegal can qualify to Rio so as to have a strong African representation in Brazil. Creating chances and scoring them are different so I’m not concern that we allowed Senegal to have the best chances of the match,” concluded Siasia.

Charly Boy writes on Donald Trump & his anti-Muslim comments

Charly Boy writes on Donald Trump & his anti-Muslim comments

Article below by Charly Boy...

CNN, and the social media has been agog with the latest Donald Trumps declaration of banning Muslims from entering America. For the past few days I have remained fixed on CNN watching how the American media has become so bemused  with Trumps soaring position at the polls, regardless of his very wild and unpresidential statements. The fixation on a candidate who trades yabis for substance has become awesome. There seem to be this love hate relationship with the American media. Hummm! America for show.

On the 7th of December 2015 the front runner of the Republican Party, Donald Trump advocated for a "total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States"

Since then Trump has been widely and correctly criticized for this, accused of wanting to reproduce discriminatory policies like those of prewar Europe, when Jews were forcibly registered. But looking at the timeline of events since the Paris attacks, and indeed in the months before them, it becomes clear that Trump isn't actually the problem here. It has become obvious that Trump is merely indulging a sentiment that was already widespread, especially after the Paris/California shooting.

The fact that Trump has bluntly refused to stand down on his declaration about Muslims which is getting widespread outrage shows how accustomed Americans have become to out-in-the-open anti-Muslim prejudice in the country. Can't say I blame them that much.

America's climate of anti-Muslim hatred and fear is on the high rise, a form of bigotry known as Islamophobia, is rampaging out of control. And it has very real and legitimately scary implications for the millions of Americans who follow Islam.

The day after Trump's "I no send you" comments, a makeshift militia, wearing military-style camo, some of them masked, showed up outside an Islamic center in Irving, Texas, carrying assault rifles and announcing they had come to stop the "Islamization of America."  Where is all of this heading to, one wonders. It's not that Trump is the cause of such strong anti-Muslim hatred but rather that his comments widely believed and legitimately popular among a slice of Americans is the leading edge of an Islamophobic movement that may turn violent. It may no longer be police shooting Inocent black, but average Americans hunting and killing Muslims.

The threat of violence often has the same theatrical point as violence itself, to terrify and intimidate, to inflict psychological suffering on the targeted group in the form of fear and alienation, to force that targeted group to live a little bit less in the open and more in the shadows.

So my question is this, for how long will Donald Trump be allowed to fan this Islamophobic messages which is definitely causing the GOPs sleepless nights. Is he going to be the favoured candidate for the republicans. A good meal for Hillary Clinton if you ask me. How can the excesses of Trump be cut down. For months, Trump has defied the laws of political correctness and gravity by maintaining his lead despite a never-ending string of mis-yarns and controversies. I strongly doubt if his improbable campaign can go the distance

Yesoooo, America may be down for the show. After all, slizzy shows like Jerry Springer was a Hit. But It is time for Americans to restore their political reputation by demonstrating the ability of the American political process to deflate the bubble of a candidate so high on self-importance and so low on policy-specifics. Donald is definitely in for the show, the new Reality show. Maybe very soon, republicans will have this to say. YOU ARE FIRED.

Teenager charged in murder of Florida Rabbi

Teenager charged in murder of Florida Rabbi

After a beloved rabbi was shot to death walking to temple last year, a shocked community came together. Neighbors pooled money for a reward. They went on high alert to help police find a killer.
But mostly they wondered who took the life of a religious man who wasn’t carrying money as he strolled to synagogue for Sabbath services.

Now, after months of painful mystery, a suspect is in custody. A DNA match and eyewitness testimony helped identify a 14-year-old Norland High student as the alleged killer who gunned down Rabbi Joseph Raksin.

“Everyone was talking about it in shul (temple) this morning,” said Yona Lunger, a Miami-Dade Jewish community activist and member of a neighborhood watch group known as the Shmira Patrol. “It couldn’t be better timing than to happen during Hanukkah when each day was a miracle.”

Izzy Labkowski, Raksin’s son-in-law, said Wednesday that knowing that someone is being held in custody for his father-in-law’s death brings some comfort.

“This is a sad situation especially when we hear that the (alleged) murderer was 14 years old,” he said. “We just hope other young kids learn from this.”

Miami-Dade police arrested Deandre Edwin Charles, now 15, at dawn Wednesday after a grand jury indicted him on first-degree murder and attempted armed robbery.

Raksin, visiting from Brooklyn, was felled with one fatal .40-caliber round to the chest on the morning of Aug. 9, 2014. Raksin was on his way to Bais Menachem Chabad.

In accordance with his beliefs, Raksin was not carrying any valuables on the holy day of rest — but was nonetheless targeted by at least two young people, one wielding a pistol.

“We believe this was a robbery,” Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez-Rundle said during a news conference on Wednesday attended by police brass, religious leaders and the county’s mayor. “It was a crime of opportunity.”

Said the rabbi’s daughter, Shulamis Labkowski-Raksin:

“We want this vicious thug to be prosecuted to the fullest extent the law allows.”

The killing rocked the tight-knit Orthodox Jewish community, where the devout suddenly feared walking to synagogue. They pooled $50,000 for a reward leading to an arrest. In New York City, hundreds mourned at services for the rabbi.

The arrest capped an exhaustive 16-month investigation in which homicide detectives combed through cellphone records, tested evidence for DNA and even relied on a sketch drawn by a neighbor who saw the gunman running from the scene.

Miami-Dade prosecutors declined to reveal more details about the case. Exactly where the DNA was found at the crime scene, and how detectives obtained a sample from Charles, remains shielded from the public as detectives look to build a case against others believed to be involved in the killing.

“Turn yourselves in or we will come get you,” said Juan Perez, Miami-Dade police’s acting director.

Prosecutors Michael Von Zamft and Marie Mato on Tuesday secured a grand jury indictment. By Wednesday morning, the Norland High student was arrested at his home in Northwest Miami-Dade.
Charles refused to talk to homicide detectives and was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

His family told reporters that Charles was home at the time of the shooting.

“He was home at the time. His whole family knows that,” stepfather Willis Archibald told reporters. “They are pinning this on a young teenager that has a lot of issues but this is ridiculous. I am 100 percent sure that he is innocent.”

Okonjo-Iweala should be included in probe- Oshiomhole insists

Okonjo-Iweala should be included in probe- Oshiomhole insists

Edo state governor Adams Oshiomole yesterday called for the inclusion of Okonjo-Iweala in the ongoing probe on missing $2.1billion arms deal. Oshiomole said this while speaking to state house correspondents after a meeting with President Buhari at the state house yesterday December 9th.

“The NSA is supposed to be an advisory officer. He is not supposed to be a procurement agent for government. I am happy the figures are coming out and I know that this is a tip of the iceberg and I read some reports, the numbers are in billions, Dasuki is just one bleeding point; there are several bleeding points in the system.
You look at the total number of expenditure on subsidy which the World Bank has just released figures; about how many trillions of Naira over the past four to five years. I am shocked. I have been talking about it, I just said to a couple of persons, the government has to go the whole hog, because I know as a governor that no money gets out of the treasury even after I have approved as the governor without the approval of the Commissioner for Finance; so the probe should go into whether all these monies are appropriated all of it; when the money got out of the treasury, through who? The Minister of Finance under the rules must endorse before money gets out of the treasury, before the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) approves. So for the Ministers of Finance, including Okonjo – Iweala, I don’t care what people say because you cannot be coordinating a corruption-ridden economy and you pretend to be an angel, you cannot selectively deal with issues; you must deal with all involved in the conspiracy. In criminal law when two to three people are involved in a act of criminality, all of them are charged with conspiracy. Now if you lay your hands on the various appropriation bills passed by the National Assembly and see how much the National Assembly appropriated for subsidy for all those periods, you will find out they are not even up to half of what was spent. This means that money not appropriated for was spent. If people are involved in those acts, they must be brought to justice,” he said

Convicted killer Michael Adebolajo sues prison service after having two teeth knocked out in jail

Remember Michael Adebolajo, the man who knocked down a soldier and stabbed him to death in broad day light just because he was wearing a military uniform in 2012? Well, he is suing the Prison Service for compensation after two teeth were knocked out in jail.

The Islamic fanatic, 32, launched the £20,000 claim following an incident with prison guards as they tried to restrain him.
He is alleged to have become agitated as five officers led him from his cell in maximum security Belmarsh prison and claims the resulting struggle led to the loss.
But the Ministry of Justice said it thoroughly investigated the 2013 incident and found staff had done nothing wrong.

Wednesday night a spokesman said:

“A police investigation into this incident took place and no charges were brought against members of staff.

“The public will be rightly outraged at the thought of this man receiving compensation from the taxpayer and we robustly defend claims made against the Prison Service.”

Adebolajo, then 29, and Michael Adebowale, 23, were jailed for life in 2014 for hacking to death Drummer Rigby as he walked to his barracks in Woolwich, South East London.

Adebolajo ran down the defenceless 25-year-old before “butchering him” with his accomplice in an attack which shocked the nation.

Both had denied murder because they were “soldiers of Allah” but were found guilty at the Old Bailey.
Adebolajo was taken from Belmarsh in South East London to Frankland, Co Durham last year amid fears he was radicalising inmates.

He had an appeal against his murder conviction thrown out by judges last December.
