Woman slices off her brother-in-law’s genitals ‘as he raped her

A mother-of-three chopped off her brother-in-law's genitals before handing them in as evidence at a police station in India.

The 32-year-old woman stunned officers when she entered the station in the Sidhi district of Madhya Pradesh, clutching the severed organ. The woman, who was accompanied by her three children, told officers that it was the only way to stop her brother-in-law attacking her, the Daily Mail reports. The woman was staying with her brother-in-law as her husband worked more than 700 miles away, in Nashik, Maharashtra. But he had allegedly assaulted her many times while she stayed in his house.

She told police that she faked consent when her brother-in-law attacked her, before hacking off his privates with a sickle.

Before the police were able to get medical support to the injured man, he had already committed suicide, reported the Times of India.

His body was reportedly found hanging from a tree near their house.

Suspects pose as traffic officials, tow stolen vehicle(Photo)

A suspected car thief, who posed with three others as traffic officials, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command.

The suspect, John Godwin, was apprehended on Monday by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad while he and three others, still at large, towed a Toyota Camry in the Isheri-Oshun area of the state,Punch metro reports.

It was gathered that the Camry, with number plate, FKJ 555 CV, had been stolen by the gang; and the car was being towed by a Toyota Corolla when the police stopped them around the Isheri-Oshun Roundabout on the LASU-Iba Road.

When they were stopped, other members in the Corolla zoomed off. The rope used in pulling the stolen vehicle was torn, and Godwin was arrested.

According to the police, the syndicate, which was led by one Ndubuisi, a spare parts seller, was taking the stolen vehicle to Mile 2, before it was intercepted.

Speaking with PUNCH Metro, Godwin, who claimed to be a mechanic, said the gang leader, Ndubuisi, had invited him to assist him in moving the vehicle from the Isheri area.

He said, “I met Ndubuisi in a hotel at about 10pm. He told me a vehicle broke down in the Isheri area, and he needed men to go with him to tow it to the Apapa area. I saw two men with him – Ade and Ebuka. We all entered a Toyota Corolla and headed for the Isheri-Oshun area.

“When we got there, three of them came down from the car. Around 3.30am, they came back and told me that the vehicle would be towed. So, we started towing the Camry with the Corolla.

“We tied a rope to the Camry, linked it to the Corolla, and we began to tow. We were on the LASU – Iyana-Iba Road when we saw some RRS policemen. The rope tied to the Camry broke, but to my surprise, both Ndubuisi and Ade, who were in the Toyota Corolla, didn’t wait.

“Ebuka, who was with me in the Camry, on sighting the RRS operatives, also took to his heels. That was how I was arrested.

“I am a mechanic. I specialise in repairing Mercedez vehicles. Ndubuisi and I became friends when I was a mechanic. He buys, refurbishes and resells cars in the Mile 2 area.”

The owner of the car, Joseph Inaboya, said the Camry was parked in front of his house, adding that he was not aware when the syndicate came to tow it away.

“When policemen called me that my car was recovered from thieves, I said it could not be true as it was parked in front of my house. But when I went downstairs to check the car, I could not find it.”

On Tuesday, the police also arrested a suspected traffic robber, Bayo Folayemi, on the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, while he and an accomplice allegedly stole a motorist’s wallet containing N4,500.

Our correspondent learnt that the victim had raised the alarm during which policemen nabbed Folayemi while the other suspect fled.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the arrests, adding that the command would not tolerate crime in the state.

State of the Nation: Everything Is Not Ok

State of the Nation: Everything Is Not Ok

It's really not OK at all. While the rest of us are free, living our daily lives, discussing the times, the economy, corruption, Trump and Sanders and other unnecessary things, 200 Nigerians have been languishing in jail in Kaduna for the past 62 days. You may think you are free, but we are only as free as the weakest of us. We are only as safe as the meekest of us. We are only as happy as the frailest of us. Those in jail illegally are our weakest link.

You may hate Shia Muslims. But there is no reason why a Nigerian youth like me and you who has a family, has plans, goals and ideals, school to go to and mouths to feed, should be locked up and denied his constitutional rights of council, bail and family visitation and freedom. Is this how we wish to make converts of them assuming we dislike them due to their "weird" faith?

Is this how our own God taught us to behave?

In the court appearance recently the army initiated what has been called dangerous trumped-up charges on them. The army said they had deadly weapons. When asked to produce this, the army allegedly said the weapons are in Lagos. Everything is not ok. The army is ready to destroy these Nigerians forever to save its face. If it was a confrontation then why is the army not in jail too pending resolution? Is one citizen more special than another?

Everything is not OK. Buratai and Buhari are dancing. This does not bother them. The majority Sunnite sect north dislikes these large minority. Buhari is traveling around, not even thinking of these people. He is getting his health check-up. He is thinking about headache, indigestion; little things. Do you know what it is like to be locked up in jail for a day, a week, two months? We know the rights of citizens. Everyone is eligible for bail in 2 days. Then you prepare for your case in court. Innocent till proven guilty.

Where is our humanity? What if we were walking on Sokoto road and got caught in the web by accident; we ran into Husainiyyah complex to seek refuge when we heard the initial gunshots from the army killing the stick and stone wielding protesters. Is this how we will like to be forgotten, unable to return to school, to our families and friends, to our lives of something and times of freedom for nothing as we choose?

Everything is not OK, Nigeria. I do not know what to do. I am thinking of protesting as a one man protest, I want to shout, I want to write to the ICC, Obama, UN, I do not know what to do. I know I have to do something because it may be me tomorrow and even if not, I feel like I am the one in there and everything is not OK at all. People in there voted for Buhari. People in there have not even cried with their families over lost ones; some left little children alone in the outside world. i do not give a damn about Saudi. I don't give a rat behind about Iran.

This is about Nigerians. this is about our people. This is about human beings who deserve justice. Who simply deserve their rights under the stipulations of the law. They have been held illegally for two months. In any other country they will be compensated and people will go down for this. This is not change. This is evil. It is this neglect and evil we did in the past that made God curse us with Boko Haram. Are we not tired of God's wrath? Do you think God likes this? Do you "fanatic" see this as us giving them punishment on God's behalf? So we are now God? Did God not say that He could have made us all one faith and that He will decide between us on our faiths and who is right and who is wrong?

I have seen mass graves. People cannot even find and bury their dead. Is this who we are? Nigeria, think oh and decide what you can do because everything is not OK and God will ask us.

BREAKING: Militant Leader Tompolo Declared Wanted

BREAKING: Militant Leader Tompolo Declared Wanted

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday declared a top Niger Delta militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, wanted.

The anti-corruption agency in an advertorial signed by its Head of Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren, said it declared Tompolo wanted following two bench warrants issued against him by a Federal High Court in Lagos, where he has been charged with N45.9bn fraud.

In the said advertorial which carried a photograph of Tompolo, the EFCC described him as a

47-year-old, dark-complexioned man from Okerenkoko, Gbaramotu Kingdom in the Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State.

The wanted Tompolo, whose address was given as No. 1, Chief Agbanu Street, DDPA Extension, Warri, Delta State, is said to speak both Izon and English languages.

The public notice by EFCC read in part, “The general public is hereby notified that Government Ekpemupolo (a.k.a. Tompolo), whose photograph appears above, is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in relation to the offence of conspiracy, illegal diversion of the sum of N34,000,000,000.00 and N11,900,000,000.00 belonging to the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency.”

Justice Ibrahim Buba of a Federal High Court in Lagos issued a bench warrant against Tompolo on January 14 after he shunned a summons dated January 12 issued on him by the judge to appear in connection with the fraud charges filed against him and nine others by the EFCC.

Justice Buba had then ordered the law enforcement agencies to produce Tompolo before him on February 8 for him to answer the charges, but rather than appear in court on January 8,
Tompolo brought an application seeking to quash the bench warrant and arrest order.

The judge, who dismissed the application for lacking in merit, renewed the arrest warrant and directed all law enforcement agencies to produce Tompolo before him on February 19.

Tompolo’s lawyer, Mr. Tayo Oyetibo (SAN), after failing to get the bench warrant vacated, turned down the responsibility of undertaking to produce his client in court.

Once you have "stolen" enough money to be able to hire a SAN in Nigeria, you are a VIP. Sigh!

Beef Free February, let's share the love again

Beef Free February, let's share the love again

2016 kicked off with a beef filled January. It seemed as though no one could get along. Kanye was having beef with Wiz Khalifa. 50 cent was having beef with Meek Mill. It was just an all-round beef-athon.But with Valentine’s Day upon us, isn’t it time we put our differences aside?

Who says you can’t be friends with your ex? Why should you and that warring neighbour continue to butt heads?

Isn’t there some way we can all just get along? The answer is yes, why not? And that’s what Pepsi’s #Longthroat4Love is all about. It’s a call, this Valentines, to everyone everywhere to squash any beef they may have.Send that rival football fan a card.

Give your annoying mother-in-law a box of chocolates. Make peace with the barber that ruined your haircut. Just get out there and show some love to the last person you’d ever consider till now.

And if you’re feeling especially loving, let him or her tag along for a night of awesomeness at the Pepsi Valentine Rave Party on the 14th of February at the Eko Hotel and Suites.

It’s going to be a celebrity filled good time with great music and lots of love.So Long throat 4 Love, squash the beef and make this February a feud free month.

Falana is pained, frustrated over failed ambition to govern Ekiti – Fayose’s aide

Falana is pained, frustrated over failed ambition to govern Ekiti – Fayose’s aide

Special Assistant to the Ekiti State Governor on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka has said the persistent attack on Governor Ayodele Fayose by self-acclaimed human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN) was out of pain and frustration occasioned by his failed

ambition to govern Ekiti State.

The governor’s spokesperson said it was strange that a lawyer of Falana’s standing would keep talking about someone committing crime for over 10 years without him being able to get the person convicted, adding that; “Oga Femi Falana is fast turning himself into a jester with his obsession to jump to the roof top to make noise over anything Ayo Fayose.”

Olayinka, who urged him to make another attempt at contesting the Ekiti State governorship instead of making noise from Lagos, said; “He (Falana) can come to Ekiti and stand for election again and let's see if he can win even house of Assembly election in Ilawe-Ekiti, his hometown.”

While describing Falana’s stance on Ekiti State as hypocritical, the governor’s aide said throughout the four years of All Progressives Congress (APC) government of Dr Kayode Fayemi, Falana did not utter a word to condemn the murder of 10 indigenes of the State that were murdered by agents of the government.

“During the APC government of Dr Kayode Fayemi, 10 indigenes of Ekiti State were murdered by agents of the government. In one of the murders, Foluso Ogundare’s killing in Emure Ekiti, the APC government tried so hard to frustrate the trial of the suspects and it was a public knowledge that Certificates of Occupancy were hurriedly signed to effect the suspects’ bail.

“When all these were happening in Ekiti, Falana was not in the moon, he simply opted to keep silent because it was not Fayose that was the governor.

“As at today, the APC Chairman in Ekiti State, Jide Awe who is standing trial over the murder of Ayo Jeje and Mrs Juliana Adewumi in Erijiyan Ekiti has remained a fugitive. Can Falana tell Nigerians whether or not he has not been relating with fugitive Jide Awe?

“The same Falana said in an interview in Punch newspaper on July 15, 2014 that Ekiti governorship election was not rigged and that Fayose won fair and square, only to come back close 18 months after to say that the election was fraudulent.

“Honestly, Oga Femi Falana must be told in clear terms that his hypocrisy on Ekiti State politics, especially concerning Governor Fayose is fast turning to sound from a broken record. If he is pained with Fayose as his governor, he should wait till 2018 to try his luck and let’s how far he will be able to go.”

Nigerian suicide bomber gets cold feet, refuses to kill

Nigerian suicide bomber gets cold feet, refuses to kill

Strapped with a booby-trapped vest and sent by Boko Haram to kill as many people as possible, the young teenage girl tore off the explosives and fled as soon as she was out of sight of her handlers.
Her two companions, however, completed their grisly mission and walked into a crowd of hundreds at Dikwa refugee camp in northeast Nigeria and blew themselves up, killing 58 people.

Later found by local self-defense forces, the girl's tearful account is one of the first indications that at least some of the child bombers used by Boko Haram are aware that they are about to die and kill others.

"She said she was scared because she knew she would kill people, but she was also frightened of going against the instructions of the men who brought her to the camp," said Modu Awami, a self-defense fighter who helped question the girl".

Her story was corroborated when she led soldiers to the unexploded vest, Awami said Thursday by phone from the refugee camp, which holds 50,000 people who have fled Boko Haram's Islamic uprising.

The girl is in custody and has given officials information about other planned bombings that has helped them increase security at the camp, Satomi Ahmed, chairman of the Borno State Emergency Management Agency, told reporters.
Awami said he had no information about how the girl came to be with Boko Haram. The extremists have kidnapped thousands of people and there are fears they may be turning their captives into weapons.

An army bomb disposal expert has told the AP that some suicide bombs are detonated remotely, so the carriers may not have control over when the bomb goes off.
Even two days later, it's difficult to say exactly how many people died at Dikwa because there were corpses and body parts everywhere, including in the cooking pots, Awami said.

"Women, children, men and aged persons all died," he said by telephone. "I cannot say the exact number as some cannot be counted because the bodies were all mangled."

Female Student of YabaTech Dies Due To School Clinic Greed

Female Student of YabaTech Dies Due To School Clinic Greed

Academic and social activities were paralysed at the Yaba College of Technology, Lagos, on Wednesday as students shut the college’s gates to protest the death of a final year student, Miss Comfort Dazan.

The protesting students also took to the roads, blocking the Jibowu end of the Herbert Macaulay Road, Yaba. The students were said to have chanted solidarity songs and displayed placards, some of which read, “Injustice to one is injustice to all” and “This nonsense must stop.”

According to Punch, the protest caused gridlock in the area, as the students prevented motorists from moving in and out of the school.

The lady was an HND 11 student in the Department of Office Technology Management.

It was learnt that Comfort, who had just finished the practical aspect of her examination, was to sit for the main examination on Wednesday (yesterday).

It was gathered that the student, however, fell ill some days ago and was rushed to the college’s medical centre. The medical staff allegedly asked to pay N35,000 before she could be treated.

When she could not raise the money, she was allegedly left unattended to, while her condition worsened until Tuesday when she was referred to the Federal Medical Centre, Oyingbo.

Comfort, however, died about 12am on Wednesday while being taken to the FMC.

This got other students angry, as they went on the rampage at about 1pm, shutting all the entrances.

One of the protesting student cried out, “The school’s medical centre is in a poor state. We cannot allow any movement into our campus until something is done about it. What is the use of a health centre that cannot treat ill students?

“Last week, one of my roommates sustained burns as a result of hot water. She was rushed to the same centre. Nobody attended to her until after three hours. They gave her only Paracetamol.”

The school Deputy Rector, Dr Morouf Adebakin, who addressed the students, promised that the management would look into their claims.

Big Lawyers Now Acting As "Technical Advisers" To Criminals — EFCC Chairman

Many big thieves continue to operate because they know there are SANs ready to defend them...
The Acting Chairman of the EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, has charged members of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, to join hands with the commission to stamp out corruption from the country.

Speaking when members of the NBA paid him a courtesy call on Wednesday, Mr. Magu, in a remark titled “The NBA Must Not Allow Corruption To Kill Nigeria”, said unprofessional conducts of some lawyers is giving the NBA a bad name.

Our “society is not served when prominent members of the bar not only take clearly tainted briefs, but even facilitate the commission of crimes by knowingly supplying the technical know-how and later, helping in the dispersal of the proceeds of crime.

“There are lawyers within the fold of the NBA who ought not to be among your noble ranks. Those people are not fit to be called ministers; rather, they are vandals of the temple of justice,” he stressed.

He also decried the practice by some members of the NBA who he said were aiding individuals and corporate organizations to perpetrate economic and financial crimes.

“Law enforcement, just as the judiciary, encompassing the bar and the bench, is a critical link in the justice delivery system of any society.

“I dare say that even when opinions and tactics differ, the interest of the two blocs cannot but converge on the overriding interest of the people,” he insisted.

Officials blamed Boko Haram for the bombings which, was not known about until yesterday because of the disruption to telephone services.

Retired radiologist, Dr Irene Damola, burnt to death

Retired radiologist, Dr Irene Damola, burnt to death

A retired radiologist and the eldest child of late Ologbosere of Warri Kingdom, Chief O. N. Rewane, was yesterday burnt to death in an early morning fire in Lagos. The 75-year-old Dr. Irene Damola (nee Rewane) was at at her 5, Tola Adewunmi Street, Maryland, Lagos residence where the unfortunate incident occured.

Vanguard gathered that the fire started from her bedroom in the duplex occupied by her and a domestic staff. Eyewitnesses said smoke was noticed upstairs at midnight, following which security men raised alarm. Efforts by the private guards in the street to put out the fire failed. Eyewitnesses said:

“Some people even attempted to move in to rescue Dr. Damola, but the entrance door was locked. “The young lady living with her later opened the door. By the time the fire was put out by the fire service men, she had been burnt to death.”

Lagos State Fire Service Director, Mr. Rasaq Fadipe, said the fire service got to the scene at about 4.02a.m. as soon as they got the information and tried to save the lives of the occupants. He said:

“It is a five-bedroom apartment. The woman, Dr. Irene Damola, lives upstairs, while the young lady staying with her lives downstairs. The fire started from her bedroom. “She made efforts to escape, but the fire caught up with her at the door of her bedroom, where my men met her dead. “We were able to prevent the fire from spreading to the ground floor. We gathered that before her demise, she was not walking well, and the effect of old age might have affected her mobility. We didn’t allow the fire to spread beyond the room.

“The fire could be attributed to power surge or maybe an appliance was left on, because we gathered that there was no power initially. We handed over the corpse to the police and the family, who had been sent for by neighbours.”

The corpse was handed over to policemen from Anthony Village Division.” Late Dr. Damola retired as a radiologist in Saudi Arabia before returning to Nigeria. She also worked at Lagos University Hospital, LUTH.

The members – Ngozichukwu Onyebuchi (44), Clement Eromosele (26), Chukwudi Akwegbu (26), Chibuzor Chukwu (18), Godspower Enudi (21) and Okorie Livonus (36) – were arraigned in a Lagos Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ogba.

They were accused of converting a residential apartment to a church.

They were said to have cautioned the worshippers to lower their voices, but the members reportedly declined.

They were brought before a Chief Magistrate, Mrs. T. Akanni, on two counts of engaging in a conduct capable of causing a breach of the peace.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges and elected summary trial.

The presiding magistrate, Akanni, admitted them to bail in the sum of N50,000 each with two sureties each in like sum. The magistrate added that the sureties must provide evidence of tax payments and their residential addresses to the court for the perfection of the defendants’ bail.

The case was adjourned till February 15, 2016, for mention.

7 Early Signs of Type 2 Diabetes...

7 Early Signs of Type 2 Diabetes...

The information below was published by WHO a few months ago. It will be of help to you. So many death caused by Diabetes is due to ignorance or lack of knowledge on it. These spurred the need to highlight to you the following facts sourced from WHO (World Health Organization) documentation;

There is an emerging epidemic of diabetes that can be traced back to rapid increases

in overweight, obesity and physical inactivity.Total deaths from diabetes are projected to rise by more than 50% in the next 10 years. Most notably, they are projected to increase by over 80% in upper- middle income countries. http://www.wellnesshub.com.ng/

The early signs of diabetes are not always obvious. They may develop slowly over time, making them hard to identify. Many are asymptomatic. Because they can worsen over a period of years, type 2 diabetes may remain undiagnosed longer than other, more obvious conditions.

Here are 7 early signs to watch out for:

1. Frequent Urination

Also known as polyuria, frequent and/or excessive urination is a sign that your blood sugar is high enough to start to spill into the urine. Because your kidneys can’t keep up with the high glucose levels, they allow some of that sugar to go into your urine, where it draws additional water, making you have to urinate often.

2. Extreme Thirst

Extreme thirst is one of the first noticeable symptoms of diabetes for some. It’s tied to high blood sugar levels, which cause thirst, and is exacerbated by frequent urination. Often, drinking won’t satisfy the thirst.

3. Increased Hunger

Intense hunger, or polyphagia, is also an early warning sign of diabetes. Your body uses the sugar in your blood to feed your cells. When the cells can’t absorb the sugar (because of a lack of insulin), your body looks for more sources of fuel, causing persistent hunger. www.wellnesshub.com.ng

4. Nerve Pain or Numbness

You might experience tingling or numbness in your hands, fingers, feet, and toes. This is a sign of diabetic neuropathy, or nerve damage. You are most likely to experience this after several years of living with diabetes.

5. Slow Healing Wounds

There are several reasons why a wound will heal more slowly if you have diabetes. Poor circulation, the effects of high blood sugar on blood vessels, and immunodeficiency are just a few. If you experience frequent infections or wounds that are slow to heal, it could be an early symptom.

6. Blurred Vision

Blurred vision occurs early in unmanaged diabetes. It can be a sign of high blood sugar levels, which cause fluid to shift into the lens of the eye. This usually resolves when blood sugar levels normalize.

7. Dark Skin Patches

Dark discoloration in the folds of your skin is called acanthosis, nigricans and is another early warning sign of type 2 diabetes. They are most common in the armpits, neck, and groin regions,

according to the Mayo Clinic.

The Takeaway

If you have any suspicion that you may be experiencing the early signs of type 2 diabetes, talk to your doctor . Pics: Biafran leader, Nnamdi Kanu, in court today, refuses to remove handcuffs

Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and director of Biafra radio, Nnamdi Kanu, was at the Federal High Court Abuja this morning where hearing on the treasonable charges filed against him by the Federal government continued.

A mild drama took place when he arrived the court premises and refused Prison officials to remove his handcuffs, insisting on having it on during court proceedings. It took the intervention of his ‎lead counsel, Chuks Muoma, to persuade him to allow the prison officers remove the handcuffs. The presiding judge, Justice John Tsoho denied Kalu's application for his International passports (British and Nigerian) to be released to him. Continue to see more photos

DMX not breathing, no pulse

DMX not breathing, no pulse

Yesterday, DMX collapsed and was rushed to the hospital. His people later claimed he suffered an asthma attack but according to a new report from TMZ, after speaking with authority, DMX didn't suffer an asthma attack and was at death's door when he was found Monday night. They said he was not breathing, didn't have a pulse and the signs point to an overdose.

From TMZ

It's a lot worse than the story DMX's people were putting out ... that he suffered an asthma attack. Yonkers cops responded to a call about an unconscious male at a Ramada Inn just after 6 PM. We're told when cops arrived DMX was on the ground in the parking lot next to a parked car. Cops quickly determined he was lifeless, not breathing with no pulse and immediately began CPR.

After a minute of CPR X's pulse came back. A witness on scene told cops DMX had ingested some sort of powder before lapsing into unconsciousness. Cops gave him Narcan, an antidote to narcotic ODs. DMX became "semi-conscious" and wastaken to the hospital.

We're told DMX appears to be in stable condition and at this time, no criminal charges are expected.

Suspected recruiter of terrorists for ISIS, others, arrested in Nigeria

Suspected recruiter of terrorists for ISIS, others, arrested in Nigeria

The Department of State Security released a statement today stating that a suspected recruiter of ISIS, and others, have been arrested in Nigeria. Read the full statement signed by DSS official, Tony Okpuiyo after the cut...

DSS Arrests ISIS Recruiter and Other Terrorists -Planned Terrorists Attacks in States Aborted

In line with the Service statutory mandate  to decisively and continually provide actionable intelligence as well as act to degrade persons and groups that threaten  internal security in the Country, the Service initiated series of tactical operations, involving raids and enforcement actions against identified criminal and extremist kingpins and syndicates across the country.

These recent operations have significantly degraded the key extremist groups and kidnapping gangs, terrorizing innocent citizens in the Country, particularly in the South-West, North-West and Middle-Belt regions of the Federation.

On 17th January, 2016, one Abdussalam Enesi YUNUSA, a recruiter for the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) was arrested in Kano. His arrest was sequel to available intelligence which indicated his terrorist antecedents and covert drive to indoctrinate and recruit susceptible youths in the country.

Prior to his arrest, YUNUSA had completed arrangements to embark on a journey to join an ISIS terrorist training camp in Libya, with other Nigerians whom he recruited for the ‘Islamic State’. These recruits include the trio of one Muhammed RABI’U, Yahaya Momoh JIMOH and Zainab SUNDAY (f). YUNUSA is a 400 level undergraduate student of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Niger State, where he was studying for a degree in Information and Media Technology.

He was subsequently radicalized and became a member of an extremist cell, comprising of one IBRAHIM (fnu) and Abubakar LIGALI, whom he revealed are currently undergoing terrorist training in Libya. He listed one AMINU (fnu) and Ibrahim JIHADI (Nigeriene), as other ISIS agents operating in Nigeria and the West African sub-region. The cell was being funded by one Abu-sa’ad Al Sudani, a media expert with the extremist group using Western Union money transfers to fund the terrorist cell agenda.

On 17th January, 2016, in Daura township of Daura LGA, Katsina State, another budding extremist cell affiliated to ISIS, was intercepted by the Service. One Ibrahim Mohammed DAURA, Zaharadeen SALISU and five other elements of the proscribed extremist group, Ansaru, were arrested by the Service. This group was discovered in an active stage, as its members were already co-ordinating themselves for attacks in Katsina and Kano States.

In the same vein, on 22nd January, 2016, one Obansa SALAMI, Ejide TIJANI aka Abu Uwaise II, Mohammed RABIU aka Ubida II, Zainab MOHAMMED and Abdulqadir Salisu AHMAD were arrested in Kano by this Service, while  migrating to Libya, with their immediate families including infants, in a bid to join ISIS. This group was apprehended after painstaking monitoring of its network and plans.

On 29th January, 2016, the Service arrested Mohammed Aliyu NDAKO in Kwara State. NDAKO is a seventeen (17) year old undergraduate student of a tertiary institution in the State. He was arrested sequel to credible intelligence on his plans with one Abdulkadir Salisu AHMAD a.k.a Daddy Tall, another student in Kano State, to carry out coordinated lone-wolf attacks on selected populated targets in Nigeria preferably worship centres or recreation venues. Suspect had hitherto been communicating with foreign extremist elements, while sourcing online terrorist training and support.

Within the window of these tactical operations, between the month of December 2015 and February 2016, the Service,  busted the  network of syndicated kidnap gangs spanning different regions in the country, especially Kebbi, Zamfara, Niger, Nasarawa, FCT, Oyo and Osun States. Foremost in this line, was the arrest of a gang of five (5) kidnappers, Abubakar HASSAN, Usman MUSA, Usman ADAMU and Idrisa Babangida AHMADU at Ife junction, Osun State, on 3rd  February, 2016.

On 5th February, 2016, the fifth member of the gang, Saidu ISYAKU was arrested at Ojo area, Oyo State. These kidnappers, Six (6) AK 47 rifles, five (5) magazines and about one thousand rounds of ammunition were recovered. This gang has been active in the South West axis of the country and were at advanced stages of kidnapping high value targets for huge ransom, before they were intercepted.

Another breakthrough in the fight against kidnapping was the killing of Abubakar MOHAMMED (aka BUBA), and an unidentified member of his group, on 8th February, 2016 close to Jebba Medical Centre, Jebba, Kwara State by security operatives as they tried to escape during a shootout with security operatives. MOHAMMED was a notorious kidnap kingpin known for his brutality and various acts of lawlessness. It is disheartening that this criminal and his men had terrorized, to no end, residents of the South West zone.  He was also linked to the kidnap of the elder statesman, Chief Olu Falae, in Ondo State.

In the wake of deliberate  vandalism of oil pipelines  by criminal elements in the South-South region, the Service arrested one Nengi Samuel IKIBA aka Kockman Abula, a notorious pipeline vandal on 27th January, 2016, in Bayelsa State. IKIBA confessed to vandalizing several pipelines in the State, including the 24” Agoda/Brass Oil pipeline at Idema community in Ogbia LGA of Bayelsa State.

The modest success of the Service in its support to the Federal Government to achieve its desired economic objectives and stability may also be noted. To this effect, the DSS have arrested a group of fraudsters who had concluded plans to hack the Government Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS) domiciled in the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation in order to steal Four Billion, Five Hundred Million Naira (N4.5b) from the Treasury Single Account (TSA).

The gang was led by one Sunny OKOH, a hacker who  worked in collaboration with the trio of Uwem Udo EKPO, a Chief Program Analyst in the OAGF, Maxwell EKENE, a retired security operative and Dozie EGWU, based in Malaysia and who is now at large. The suspected fraudsters intended to use a software they had sourced and codes released to them by EKPO to hack Government accounts in the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and defraud the Government of this huge sum.

It is instructive to note that a credibility problem would have arisen over the TSA policy if these hackers had succeeded in their plan and thus lend credence to the critics of the policy that it ought not to have been introduced and implemented. For the avoidance of doubt, the suspects have been handed over to the EFCC for further investigations and prosecution.

It is pertinent to state that these successes were recorded as a result of proactive and credible intelligence offered by members of the public, sister security agencies and other stakeholders. This Service wish to state that it will continue to deploy every means necessary within its statutory mandate, and armbit of the law to ensure the security and safety of all law-abiding residents and citizens wherever they reside.

It is also germane to urge all and sundry to be extra-vigilant, as well as report any suspicious persons/groups or activities to relevant security agencies, for the sustenance of relative peace in the country
