SNAIL FARMING IN NIGERIA MADE SIMPLE!

SNAIL FARMING IN NIGERIA MADE SIMPLE!

Although snail farming can be very profitable in Nigeria, it is one of the most neglected micro-livestock in the country. Snail farming provides one of the finest opportunity to make money within a short period of time. But why are Africans not yet fully engaged in this money making animal rearing? The reason is ignorance.

In Australia and USA, snail farming is big business, providing opportunities to many farmers. In Uk, snails can be seen in many supermarkets and stores, meaning it’s a big deal over there. Most people in Nigeria still have the belief that snail can only be picked in the bush. The culture of going to the bush to pick snails in the villages during raining time has been there for generations. So, it has been difficult for people to come to term that snail can actually be kept and grown at home.

Just like in many other aspects of farming in these countries, Africans are yet to discover the great money making potential in snail rearing business and that is why we suffer in hunger and poverty. We neglect where the money is and keep pursuing it where it is not, going from one city to the other looking for one petty China made goods after another to trade on. Labouring away in Europe and America in search of greener pastures when our own continent is already green.

After reading this article, you will be on your way to starting your own snail business in easy and simple steps. You can make up to ₦5,000,000 annually in snail rearing, if only you do it well and rightly.

So, what is a snail? Land snails belongs to the class of Molluscan, Gastropod. The one popularly known as ‘Congo Meat‘ in many parts of Africa. In Nigeria, it is known as ejuigbinurue, etc… There are so many species of snails but the types we are looking at here are the ones that are suitable for commercial snail farming in Nigeria.

SUITABLE SNAIL SPECIES FOR SNAIL FARMING

Achatina fulica – The East African land snail, or giant African land snail, scientific name Achatina fulica, is a species of large, air-breathing land snail, a terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusk in the family Achatinidae. It is the smallest in size among all the desirable species for rearing in Africa. Achatina fulica has a narrow, conical shell, which is twice as long as it is wide and contains 7 to 9 whorls when fully grown. The shell is generally reddish-brown in colour with weak yellowish vertical markings but colouration varies with environmental conditions and diet. A light coffee colour is common. Adults of the species may exceed 20cm in shell length but generally average about 5 to 10cm. The average weight of the snail is approximately 32 grams (Cooling 2005).Achatina Achatina – Achatina achatina, common name the giant Ghana snail, also known as the giant tiger land snail, is a species of very large, air-breathing land snail, a terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusk in the family Achatinidae.

Giant African land snails are hemraphrodites, meaning they possess both the female and male reproductive organs. Two snails are still needed for breeding, but they are very prolific breeders. Similar to the other species in the genus, Achatina achatina’s shell can attain a length of 200 mm and a maximum diameter of 100 mm. They may possess between 7-8 whorls and the shell is often broadly ovate. The body of the animal is silver-brown in color although albino morphs may exist.

3. Archachatina Marginata – Archachatina marginata, common name the giant West African snail, is a species of air-breathing tropical land snail, a terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusk in the family Achatinidae. They can grow up to 20cm long, and live up to 10 years. Among these three species, Achatina Achatina is the most desirable for farmers because it grows so big to become the biggest snail species in the world. Achatina Achaina has its origin in Nigeria, hence it is indigenous to Nigeria. It also has high yield capacity. The other species are good too, but we could focus on Achatina Achatina and Archachatina Marginata because they are common and easy to find in Nigeria.

Achatina-Achatina is very good for commercialization as well, especially because of its profitability; each achatina lays 300 to 500 eggs at a time in clutches, three times a year. Therefore, if you start a farm with about 1000 snails, in one year you would be getting about 1.5 million snails going by the number of eggs they produces. Having decided on the specie, let’s take you through the step by step how to setup your snail farm in a small scale level and starts rearing your snail towards harvest.

Snail Farming Environment – Snails are easily dehydrated, and wind increase the rate of moisture loose in snail which in turn, leads to the dryness of the animal. To prevent snails from losing water so quickly, your snaileries (the snail house) must be located in environment that is protected from wind. A low plain, downhill site surrounded with enough trees is perfect for snail farming. You may plant plantains and bananas around your snail farm to prevent the impact of wind.

Type of Soil For Snail Farming – Snail’s major habitat is the soil, and soil contains some of the components and chemical substances that it needed to survive. However, not all soils are suitable for snail rearing. The shell of the snail is mainly calcium and it derive most of them from the soil. Snail also lay its eggs on the soil and drink water out of the soil. The suitable soil for snail farming must contain these elements.  Must be balanced, not waterlogged, not too dry, and must not be acidic. The most desirable soil for snail is sandy-loamy soil with low water holding capacity. Clayey soil and acidic soil must be avoided.

Getting the Sails for Farming – To start a snail farm, it is advisable to get snails directly from the forest instead of buying from the market after they have been exposed to sunlight and have dehydrated. This is because snails drink a lot of water, so are easily dehydrated and this stresses them out, and reduce their fertility capacity.

The intending snail farmer could pick the snails from the bush with a very simple technique; clear a little portion of land during rainy season and sprinkle spicy fruits like pineapple, pawpaw, plantain, banana, etc at about 5o’clock in the evening, when you go back there about 7pm or 8pm, you will pick up snails suitable for rearing. Repeat the procedure until you get enough quantity.

Another way could be to pick up snail eggs littered in the market place where it is sold and through a technique, check the fertility of the eggs, because some of them must have lost fertility due to the exposure to sunlight. The eggs are later put inside a container containing wet sand and covered with cocoyam leaf. Between 21 to 28 days, the eggs would hatch into baby snails. You start feeding them and gradually you raise a snail farm.”

The Snail House (Snailery) – Snaileries can vary from a patch of fence-protected ground, sheltered from the wind to a covered box if you are breeding in small scale. For larger population of snails, you can dug a trench or make a concrete pen with soil deep of about 10 inches, and cover it with screen or wire all around to prevent the snails from escaping. Remember that snails can reproduce fast and become pests when their breeding is uncontrolled.

Snails love dark and cold places, but make sure the humidity does not drop to levels harmful to the snails. You can use fresh leaves and cloth that is regularly wet to regulate the temperature. Also, the wire is useful in keeping away rats and snakes or other predators from eating the snails in your snail farm. But aside from these bigger predators, you should be wary about smaller ones like ants and termites. Your construction must have these predators in mind.

Snail Foods and Feeding – Snails especially Achatina mainly feeds on green leaves and fruits though they can utilize other ranges of foods. Feed your snails leaves, fruits, or even formula from the feed store. Aside from food to grow tissues, snails need calcium to grow shells.

Leaves:
Cocoyam leaves, pawpaw leaves, okra leaves, cassava leaves, eggplant leaves, cabbage and lettuce leaves.

Fruits:
Mango, eggplant, pawpaw, banana, tomatoes, oil palm fruits, pears. and cucumber.
Once they start growing, separate the big ones from the small ones. It take more than a year for the Achatina type to grow to harvest size. Others mature in two years. One hundred thousand snails after a year or two sold at the rate of N50 each (highly reduced price) will give you about N5 million! Isn’t that a good investment?

Harvesting –
It is not economically wise to harvest your snails before it’s maturity, it has to be matured before harvesting. To know if your snails are already matured enough, check the brim of the shell. If it is matured enough, the brim should be thicker and harder than other parts of the shell. Do not harvest all the matured snails at once for the market. It is important to keep few for breeding and to serve as base stock for your snail farm.

How Nigeria's most wanted kidnapper Evans made over N2billion in 2015

How Nigeria's most wanted kidnapper Evans  made over N2billion in 2015

Before his arrest yesterday, Evans, was described as Nigeria most notorious, high profile kidnapper and the richest in Nigeria. His arrest yesterday elicited joy at the Force Headquarters, Kam Salem House, Abuja, and the Police Command, Ikeja, Lagos

Evans, whose real name is Chukwudi Odumeme Onuamadike, aged 36, and hails from Umudim Village, Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State has been involved in the kidnap of high profile individuals across the country.

For over five years, he has remained the prime target of the Police. But the more they hunt him, the more elusive he becomes or so it seems.

His name is Evans, one of the richest men in Nigeria but at the moment, the most wanted kidnapper in the country. His criminal outreach and operational methods have so far dwarfed security agencies. In the police circle, as soon as news of high profile kidnap in Lagos is reported, they would simply scream “Evans, Oh Evans.”

Welcome to the world of Evans, ostensibly Nigeria’s most wanted kidnapper who raked in over N2 billion from payment of ransom for his wealthy victims last year alone. His list of victims is endless.

One of them is Sir James Uzochukwu Uduji, the Chairman of Comet Star Manufacturing Company, who spent six weeks in captivity before met the gang’s ransom demand.

Udoji was abducted by unknown gunmen in front of his residence at 7th Avenue, Festac Town, Lagos on September 7, 2015. He was released after six weeks in captivity. His abductors were said to have laid ambush for him at 72nd Junction along 7th Avenue at a bad portion of the road, close to his residence. The hoodlums shot the driver and drove off with Uduji to an unknown destination.

Though he vehemently refused to mention the amount that was paid to his captors, he however, maintained that “their demands were met.” He gave this piece of advice to anybody who falls victim of kidnapping to cooperate with their abductors instead of risking their precious lives which cannot be bought with money.

Uduji’s abduction went viral when the amount requested as ransom became knowledge of the media. His abductors had requested for $1million US dollars which naira value was put at N220 million as at the time he was being held.

An indigene of Anambra State, Evans as he is known by his associates became more involved in criminality, shortly after he was released from prison in 2011.
Some of his colleagues who were arrested by the Police, recalled the moments they shared with him while he was in Anambra prison. According to them, he was always exchanging notes with other inmates on how they were arrested while he plotted his return.

He made contacts and as soon as he was granted bail, Evans jumped bail and joined a gang in Anambra. He grew in ranks, and made a lot of money until he was able to form his own gang. He widened his reach between Lagos and Anambra States and at the end of each operation, travel to Ghana till the Police stops searching for him.

Severally, he had relocated to Ghana when Anambra, his home state became too hot for him to operate. Government and the Police in Anambra State were said to have launched a manhunt for him and one of his colleagues, known as Hutch-man, when their activities became too unbearable. Their buildings were destroyed and their relatives were ostracised in the society.

While in Ghana, Evans and Hutch-man formed a new gang in Lagos with three others. Their modus operandi was to sneek into the country quietly, carry out some kidnappings and disappear into thin air.

No one noticed his activities until in 2013 after a prominent transporter, Chief Vincent Obianodo, the Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of The Young Shall Grow Motors narrowly escaped death when his convoy was attacked by some gunmen in Festac Town. The police arrested some suspects who revealed the motive behind the attack.

In August 27, 2013, Chief Obianodo was attacked by some gunmen in Festac Town. The attack left four persons dead including two of the gunmen, a police officer and Obianodo's driver while the billionaire sustained bullet wounds.

According to this March 28, 2015 crime report by The Vanguard, the suspects disclosed that the
attack on Chief Obianodo which many speculated to be an assassination attempt, was actually an attempted kidnap foiled by his police guards.

“They had expected the policemen guarding the chief to run for cover when they accosted them and opened fire on his convoy. But surprisingly, a policeman guarding the Chief put up a fight and engaged the kidnappers in a shoot-out, killing two at the spot while one other died before they fled,” police sources explained.

He is so smart that none of his gang members that were arrested has information about him except that his name is Evans and they refer to him as ‘my lord’ while they are not allowed to know much about him.

One of Evans gang members who knew little about him was Chukwuma Kingsley, 34, a native of Isele-Ukwu in Delta State. Kingsley was arrested in connection with the kidnap of two oil moguls in Lagos state.

During his confession at the police station, Kingsley claimed that he knew Evans as a dangerous criminal.

“We once lived in the same building many years ago and he was a notorious drug baron. At a time, we forced our landlord to evict him from our building because we were scared he could get us into trouble. There was a time he told me that he was going to leave the country to avoid being arrested by the police. But few months later, I learnt he was arrested for truck diversion and taken to prison.

‘’I was still doing my taxi job and making little money from it. Suddenly, I received a call from Evans. I was surprised he had my phone number and he asked if I had a car, I told him I didn’t and he asked if I could get someone I trusted who could do a job for him, I said yes. My friend Ike was in the country then and he was driving a Toyota Sienna space bus. I took him to Evans and we met at Festac Town.
“He told us to trail a car for him and he would pay us N3 million. We agreed and he said we should wait for his call. Two weeks later, he called and said we should drive down to Trade Fair Complex, wait under the bridge and look out for a car. He gave us the registration number and colour of the car. He also gave our numbers to somebody who would call and tell us when our target would leave his shop.

“We parted ways with him, because after the deal, he collected N15million and only gave us N3million. Ike got angry because that wasn’t the agreement. He told me that Evans collected N15million as ransom. He is a graduate and very smart,” Kingsley revealed.

Police sources described Evans as the most notorious kidnapper operating in Lagos at the moment, stating that he has over 20 boys working for him in Lagos alone. The source added that Evans could easily pick out his targets as he is very rich with properties in choice areas in Lagos. “He displays lots of wealth. He has properties in Lekki and Ajah and he drives expensive cars around town making it possible for him to blend easily with the rich in the society. When he picks out a victim, he sends a team to monitor the movement of that victim.
When he thinks it’s ripe for him to strike, he would deploy another team to attack and kidnap his victim.

After carrying out their operation, they usually blindfold their victims after which they are taken to unknown destinations within the state where they are detained and ransoms are demanded before their release. After their freedom, the victims are warned never to alert the police or members of their families would be attacked.

Endless list of victims
Saturday Sun investigation revealed that Evans and his gang still have in their custody, three prominent Nigerians abducted from Amuwo Odofin and Festac area.

Elias Unachukwu was kidnapped in November 2015. Although the family had paid $1million, he is yet to be released as his abductors are insisting on another $1million claiming that family members were rude to them during negotiation.

The second person, Ojukwu Cosmas, 45, who sells Toyota parts at Aspanda trade fair market, Ojo area, was abducted on January 21, 2016 at Festac Town.

The latest was Fidel Umeh, an auto spare parts dealer at Aspanda market who was kidnapped January 28, 2016 at Amuwo Odofin and his family is still negotiating with his abductors.

While the three are still in their abductors den, Evans and his group have successfully ripped off several families in Festac town including James Udoji, a successful industrialist who reportedly parted with $1million to regain his freedom. Shortly after he was released in September, 2015, Chief Raymond Okoye Odu na Ichida  was picked up and was said to have paid $1million to his captors after spending two months with them. Another victim was Uche Okoroafor, a trader at Alaba market who also parted with $1million to regain his freedom after spending three months in captivity.

One of the friends of Okorofar who spoke with Saturday Sun at his residence lamented that he had to relocate from Festac to Lekki.

“This is no longer a joke. The police are no longer interested in what happens in Festac Town or Amuwo Odofin. It is now reserved for the average citizen and criminals. Nobody knows who will be the next target. For now, Lekki or Ikeja is safe because that crook and his group know that houses in Lekki and Ikeja are well protected. They will not risk showing their faces here and most importantly, this is the area where important people live and I know that if such a gang dares this area, the police will do everything to arrest them.

“Can’t you remember that Godogodo was arrested because he attacked them? In 2015 alone, not less than 20 prominent men were kidnapped in Festac Town. Properties are very cheap in Festac now because no rich man wants to buy property there again”, he said.

Another resident who owns a four star hotel in Festac said that he had since relocated out of the country.

“Three of my regular customers were picked up in front of my hotel while they were leaving. One of them spent two months in their net and had to auction his properties just to raise $1million ransom. It means that their informant normally visits the hotel. I am not safe there, so I run my business from the US”, he said.
A police source disclosed that “in 2015 alone, it is estimated that Evans and his gang made nothing less than N2 billion from ransom payments. That is why he has so much money to work with.”

On Evans’ nefarious activities, it was gathered that as far back as 2014, the Lagos command had been on his trail after members of his gang were arrested. He was said to have fled to South Africa with his wife and children. He resurfaced again in March 2015 and this time around, concentrated his effort on Festac Town which has as its landlords, most successful businessmen from the eastern part of Nigeria. Gradually, rich men were silently picked up and Festac town gradually degenerated into an easy route for Evans and his gang.

Other victims include

Mbarikatta William Uboma, 35, kidnapped June 16th, 2012, at about 11am, on his arrival from Hungary, while he was close to his house. He was in the company of his brother, on their way from the airport, when another car emerged and blocked theirs. They grabbed Uboma, blindfolded him and forcefully abducted him – he was taken to an unknown destination. They later demanded a ransom of N10M. However, N2M was later paid while they collected other personal accessories. He was finally dropped at Okota on the third day.

Paul Cole, 34, from Ohafia in Abia State. A Director with Ocean Glory Commodities, Apapa, he was kidnapped on August 3rd, 2012, at Festac Town, together with his General Manager, Jude Ugoje, and another staff, Piriye Gogo, and taken to an unknown destination. They demanded for N10M. On August 6th, 2012, they collected N5M ransom at Maza-maza, before letting their victim off the hook.

Mohammed Jamal, 22, a Lebanese, was kidnapped on August 19, 2012, at Ajah by three armed men, taken away and blindfolded. N7M ransom was later paid at Ojo Barracks.

Kingsley Nwokenta, 34, was kidnapped on September 19, 2012, at Mile two under bridge, after he left Lebanana Bar, in Festac. Later, he paid N1.5M ransom while they made away with his black Toyota Venza and other accessories.

Anthony Ozoanidobi, 41, was kidnapped on October 10th, 2012, along Marwa Road Satellite town. Ransom of N1.5M was paid after which he was released at Apple junction, Amuwo-Odofin

Leo Abraham 58, was Kidnapped on August 20, 2012. He paid ransom of N5M and was later released along Badagry road, Lagos.

. Ojukwu Cosmas, 45, sells Toyota parts at Aspanda Trade fair. He was kidnapped on January 21, 2016, at Festac town. It was not clear when and how he was released.

The last Victim is Mr Danatus Dunu he was kidnapped in Ilupeju February 2017 and fortunately the man escaped from the Igando House where Evans kept him with his boys last month.

Dunu,  a wealthy owner of a pharmaceutical company at Ilupeju, Lagos, escaped miraculously from the hideout where they kept him for months. He was abducted in front of his office in Ilupeju, on February 14, 2017, after he closed for the day, by gun-totting young men who blocked his car with their SUV and threw him into the booth of the car. Members of his family later paid about N150m to effect his release. But the kidnappers insisted on getting N500m.   They threatened to kill their victim if the full ransom was not paid.

Luckily,   few weeks after the payment of the ransom and their consistent threat to kill their victim, Dunu miraculously escaped from their hideout at Igando, a suburb of Lagos. He, thereafter, alerted security agents who swung into action and started rounding up members of the gang. information made available to Sunday  Vanguard by very dependable sources suggested that efforts of the police paid off on  Friday  night, after they were able to locate Evans’ where  about, using sophisticated communication gadgets provided by the Inspector-General of Police. Police sources hinted that while almost all police formations in the country were on red alert trying to locate the notorious kidnap kingpin, the Inspector-General of Police, who was visibly angry with the delay, sent three special teams attached to his office down to Lagos to complement the efforts of those on ground.

EVANS and his gangs keep their victim kidnapped in Lagos Area at House No. 21 Prophet Asaye Close New Igando, Lagos State until the ransom is paid to him. Ransom money are paid to him in Millions of Dollars, some victims are kept for upward of six to seven months until the last penny is paid. He never reduces his tagged ransom money. None of his gang members know his house.

MODUS OPERADI OF EVANS

In every kidnap attack he has a separate armed group that kidnapped victim with him and has another armed group who takes over the victim to their hideouts and prevent them from escaping.

The members of the two ‘2’ groups don’t know each other. They complied with Evans instructions.

EVANS, and the dreaded Vampire who died during a gun duel with the Police Special Forces led by IRT and Imo State Police Command in a forest in River State early this year are axis of evil in kidnappings in Southern Nigeria States and some Northern State.

9.8 MILLION DOLLARS, SEVENTY FOUR THOUSAND POUNDS RECOVERED FROM EX-NNPC GMD......How The Money Was Recovered....

A special operation conducted by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on 3rd February, 2017 on a building belonging to a former Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr. Andrew Yakubu in Kaduna yielded the recovery of a staggering sum of $9,772,800 (Nine Million, Seven Hundred and Seven Two Thousand, Eight Hundred United States Dollars) and another sum of £74,000 (Seventy Four Thousand Pound Sterling) cash.
The huge cash was hidden in a fire proof safe.

The surprise raid of the facility was sequel to an intelligence which the commission received about suspected proceeds of crime believed to be hidden in the slums of Sabon Tasha area of Kaduna.

On arrival at the facility, the caretaker of the house, one Bitrus Yakubu, a younger brother to Andrew Yakubu, disclosed that both the house and the safe where the money was found belong to his brother, Andrew Yakubu.

When the safe was opened it was discovered that it contained the sum of $9,772,800 (Nine Million, Seven Hundred and Seventy Two Thousand, Eight Hundred United States Dollars) and another sum of £74,000 (Seventy Four Thousand Pound Sterling).
On February 8, 2017, Andrew Yakubu reported to the Commission’s Zonal office in Kano and made statement wherein he admitted ownership of the recovered money, claiming it was gift from unnamed persons. He is currently assisting the investigation.

Naked carpenter taken to court for insisting on working naked outside in his garden

Naked carpenter taken to court for insisting on working naked outside in his garden

42 year old Rob Jenner, who loves doing odd jobs around his house while he's completely naked , has been taken to court by his neighbours. What makes Rob's case different is that he goes as far as working outside the house naked in full glare of the public, children inclusive.

Rob who was formerly a soldier admits that he is a naturist and loves being naked, but people living around have a problem with that and he was charged with breaching a community protection notice and 13 other public offenses after an angry neighbour, Fredrick, called the police on him. Rob denies all the charges levelled against him.

Fredrick was on his way home when he saw Rob working naked in his front garden and this infuriated him, he told the Maidstone Magistrates Court.

“Kids are walking around that area all the time, it’s right by a school. People don’t want to see that, it’s not right.” Fredrick said.

Four other witnesses who were angry about Rob's nakedness spoke to the court.

Community warden Debbie Foreman said she felt uncomfortable after seeing Rob crouched down in his front garden with his manhood covered by a work belt.

The Prosecutor, Paul Edwards, told the court that Rob’s actions had caused alarm and distress to neighbours and that he must have known that his action will offend his neighbour and that was obviously the reason why he put up a sign that read;

“A naturist is working on this property, please do not take offence.”

Rob's lawyer, Alex Davey, said Rob is a naturist and his behavior is “acceptable in accordance with his human rights”. The trial is still ongoing.

This is too bad, how will a woman do this to her daughter?

This is a woman that deserves to be SHOT and thrown in the river with bricks round her neck.

How can you carry a child for 9 months then pour HOT WATER on her finger because she suck her thumb and you want to stop her doing so.

Nigerian military jet accidentally kills over 50 civilians & humanitarian aid workers in Borno settlement

The Nigerian military on Tuesday said a fighter jet accidentally shot some civilians and humanitarian aid workers during an operation in Kala Balge, Borno State.

The Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, Maj. Gen. Lucky Irabor, who disclosed this during a press briefing on Tuesday in Maiduguri, said soldiers got information of movement of Boko Haram members and deployed ground troops and air cover to tackle the terrorists.

"This morning, we received a report about the gathering of Boko Haram terrorists around Kala Balge area of Maiduguri. I coordinated and I directed that the air component of the operation should go and address the problem.

"Unfortunately, the strike was conducted but it turned out that other civilians were somewhere around the area and they were affected. So far, it is a little bit disturbing; death has occurred. There are casualties; there were deaths and injuries but on the actual number of casualties, we would get back to you later.

"I am yet to get the number of casualties of civilians killed, but two soldiers were also affected. Some humanitarian staff of Medicines Sans Frontiers and some staff of International Committee of Red Cross(ICRC) were also affected."We are sending helicopters to evacuate those that were critically wounded, including our wounded soldiers," Irabor added.

MMM: Our Students Must Pay All Their Debt First...

MMM: Our Students Must Pay All Their Debt First...

The Vice Chancellor of Osun State University, Prof. Labode Popoola, has warned that the institution would collect the over N2bn debt students owe it whether they are able to recoup their money invested in the MMM ponzi scheme or not.

Prof. Popoola said, “Some of them (students) used their school fees to invest in MMM. But whether MMM comes back or not, it is their headache. I have told them that we are not going to open the portal. If I see that a critical mass of the students pay, then we will decide to open the portal just for about 48 hours. But they must pay first.

“This is how we accumulated a debt profile of over N2bn, we cannot continue this way. They just have to pay the money.”

But MMM ‘investors’ have not been able to get their cash back as of the time of filing this report.

Some who invested their life savings and business money are crying out already.

Barcelona sack club director after he claims Lionel Messi won't be so good without Neymar and Iniesta

Barcelona sack club director after he claims Lionel Messi won't be so good without Neymar and Iniesta

A Barcelona club director has been sacked by the club after he claimed Lionel Messi wouldn't be so good without the help and presence of teammates Iniesta and Neymar, comments that the club claimed didn't agree with the club's own line of thought.

Lionel Messi has 18 months to run down on his current contract with Barcelona and has been linked with a transfer out of the club. Following recent comments by a Barca director that they need to be financially sensible to decide whether to keep Messi or sell him, the club is eager not to do things that'll further increase tensions between Lionel Messi and the club and acted swiftly to relieve the director of his duties.

Pere Gratacós, a Barca club director, who was head of Sports Institutional Relations with the Royal Spanish Football Federation, made the comments after the Copa del Rey quarter-final draw.

Gratacos claimed Messi would not be as good without his teammates, despite the Messi's role in the win over Athletic Bilbao , .

"Leo is one of the most important people in the team, but it's not just about him," he said.

"He would not be as good without [Andres] Iniesta, Neymar and company, but Messi is the best."

Th club released a statement saying; "FC Barcelona have dismissed Pere Gratacos as head of institutional sporting relations with the Royal Spanish Football Federation for having publicly expressed a personal opinion that does not match that of the club after the draw for the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey held today in Madrid," the Catalan club said in a bizzare statement:

"The decision has been taken by Albert Soler, director of professional sports, who will assume these functions directly from now on."
