Woman is caned in Indonesia for being 'close' to a man she was not married to

An Indonesian woman was flogged outside a Mosque in Indonesia last week and her crime? For being in 'close proximity' to a man she wasn't married to. This apparently is an offence under Sharia law and the punishment is public caning. Hundreds of people gathered outside the Mosque to watch student Nur Elita caned for showing affectionate behaviour to a fellow university student. The caning ended with Nur collapsing and being taken to the hospital. More photos after the cut...

The guy she was seen with was also flogged. See below...

The sum of N514, 150:00 was recovered at an accident scene at Kwaita village, on the Abuja-Lokoja road by a rescue team of the Yangoji unit command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Saturday, December 26.

The unit commander of the FRSC, Mr. Joseph Ezeh disclosed this to a Daily Trust reporter while handing over the money to one of the survivors of the accident. Mr Ezeh said the money was recovered after two vehicles, Toyota Corolla and Nissan Sunny cars collided. The team who rushed to the scene to rescue the victims recovered the large sum. Fortunately, the victims from the two vehicles, including a reverend father came out of the accident unhurt.

"Although, the money was from the two vehicles which did not belong to one person, thank God all the victims involved escaped unhurt before they all came and resolved among themselves that the money be hand-over to one of them,"  Mr Ezeh said.

Ex-minister Senator Obanikoro reacts to Sahara Reporters's claim that he is hiding from investigation

Ex-Minister Musiliu Obanikoro has reacted to a report by Sahara Reporters that he is hiding from Nigerian investigators abroad. According to the New York based news agency, Obanikoro is in hiding in a Gwinnnet Count, Georgia home he allegedly purchased in 2014, after the EFCC received evidence linking him to the $2.1 billion arms scandal involving the Office of the National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.

In a statement released on Facebook, the former minister described the reports as baseless and shameful. Read it after the cut...

"Ordinarily, I wouldn't dignify SaharaReporters with a response to the baseless and shameful journalism it practices, but there is a limit even to new media madness.

Dragging my children into your deliberate campaign and onslaught against my person, however will not be ignored and I demand you cease and refrain from this practice and limit your scope to me only.

For the record, I have been in public service since 1992, and I have never owned or currently own a home anywhere in the world outside Nigeria, however I am proud of my son and his family who are private citizens for their accomplishment as they have the right to do so.

I still have a case against @SaharaReporters and its owner filed at their “Hide Out” in the State of New York, and this will certainly add to the body of evidence against this hack-journalism platform.

Perhaps this is in retaliation to the suit, but be rest assured, I won’t be deterred and will pursue this to a logical conclusion.

While I remain open to answering any question on my conduct as a public servant in any administration at state and federal levels in Nigeria, I urge responsible practitioners of Journalism to refrain from helping hack journalists bring their profession into disrepute with baseless rumours and the blind crusade of an already biased and bought media platform.

My aspirations now therefore are to seek further education as I am doing in pursuit of a degree in History at the Oglethorpe University based in Georgia USA and to Mentor the next generation of leaders in Nigeria."

Mountain of Fire Members stop Church Service, accuse Cartel of Diverting Church Money

Corruption is now every where even in the house of God,  Who is tampering with our church money? Fire is coming o..lol!

Hell was let loose at the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, South-South Region 11, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Sunday as aggrieved worshipers grounded the Sunday service over alleged mismanagement of church funds and unjustified sack of the pastor.

The infuriated protesters, who carried placards with different inscriptions, barricaded the entrance to the church premises with cars, demanding the immediate reinstatement of the sacked Regional Overseer of the church, Pastor Lanre Adekunle.

The protest which caused panic in the church brought the Sunday service to an abrupt halt.

A source who related the development in the church to newsmen, said that there had been several cases of mismanagement of funds in the church, saying the church has been unable to address the situation.

The source said a few people in the church were diverting church funds to their personal use, stressing that the cartel had always frustrated any genuine man of God posted to the church who would not allow the church funds to be embezzled.

Speaking, one of the leaders of the protest, who is also an elder in the church, Mr. Chukwu Okorafor, said their anger was about the conspiracy leading to the sack of Pastor Adekunle, whom he alleged was witch-hunted by the cartel for being scrupulous with the church funds.

Okorafor said that the cartel which was always interested in the church funds, stage-managed the sack of the pastor who was posted to the church two months ago because he was trying to stop them.

He said: “We will continue this protest until the General Overseer hears us and brings back our pastor, who is doing the true work of God in our region.”

BUSTED! Ex-Minister Obanikoro's Secret Hide Out Exposed

BUSTED! Ex-Minister Obanikoro's Secret Hide Out Exposed

Ex-Minister of State for Defense, Musiliu Obanikoro, who is said to be on the run, had purchased a home in Gwinnett County in Georgia, United States of America in 2014.

He is said to be hiding from EFCC after new details reveal his accounts received questionable funds.

The anti-corruption agency (EFCC) said they have received more evidence linking Obanikoro with the infamous Ekitigate election scandal of June 2014 and the related plot to rig the Osun election.

According to SR source, the commission obtained financial transaction information and witness testimonies connecting Obanikoro with a group of companies which received at least N1.45billion to rig the two governorship elections last year.

The N1.45billion was allegedly funneled into the accounts of five companies, all of which were under the control of Obanikoro. The evidence of these transactions emerged from EFCC interrogations of ten suspects connected with the $2.1billion arms scandal involving the office NSA, Sambo Dasuki.

Soldier Selling Weapons To Armed Robbers Has Been Caught

Soldier Selling Weapons To Armed Robbers Has Been Caught

A serving Lance Corporal in the Nigerian Army, Emmanuel Ebo, and seven others have been arrested for selling ammunition to a notorious gang of armed robbers which attacked banks in Lagos and Ogun.

The soldier and others were arrested by the Police IG Special Intelligence Monitoring Team.

The team arrested the soldier, an Ijaw man, at his base in Maiduguri, Borno State, while the other suspects were picked up in various hideouts in Lagos, Ogun, and Oyo states. There names are:

Ahmed Monsuru, Bayo Olaoye, Olamilekan Omopeji, Ayodeji Famileye, Opeyemi Balogun, Michael Adebayo, and Edward Paul.

According to PUNCH, the corporal, who had reportedly confessed to the crime, was arrested by the team, led by CSP Abba Kyari, after the Department of Military Intelligence had been alerted to the matter.

It was learnt that the police recovered six automatic pump-action rifles, a pistol and some cartridges from the suspects.

Recall that robbers had attacked some commercial banks in Lekki, Ipakodo, Ijede and the FESTAC Town area of Lagos State and Agbara area of Ogun State at different times in the year.

The DMI received an intelligence report on the corporal’s activities from the police, and handed him over for interrogation.

A police source revealed that the soldier concealed the weapons in food items heading for Lagos from Borno State, while the robbers would credit his bank account upon receiving the weapons.

Police say the bad soldier allegedly sold no fewer than 15 automatic pump-action rifles to the gang.

Speaking with PUNCH, one of the suspects, 40-year-old Famileye from Ekiti State, said he sold an automatic rifle to the gang for N230,000, adding that he made over N60,000 on each rifle.

The father of one said, “I have a friend in Oyo State, known as Mr. Mike, who sells arms. I do not know whether he is a licensed dealer or not. It was in 2012 during the fuel subsidy protest in Lagos that I went to Ikorodu to buy fuel and I met a member of the gang. That was how the business started.

“Last year, one of them, Opeyemi, called me that he wanted to buy two pump-action guns which he needed for pipeline security. I called my friend, Mr. Mike, and told him about it. He sold the rifle to me for N170,000, but I sold it forN260,00.

“I, Opeyemi and Olamilekan have gone to the creek to meet one of the gang leaders, known only as Ossy. They bought two rifles on that first deal and they also demanded two more rifles. Sincerely, I did not know they were using the guns for robbery. They said they were into pipeline security.”

The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olabisi Kolawole, confirmed the arrest of the suspects.

Woman pours hot water on nursing mother(Graphic Photo)

Woman pours hot water on nursing mother(Graphic Photo)

A woman, identified as Esther Williams, has been arrested by the Isheri division of the Lagos State Police Command for pouring hot water on her neighbour, Mabel Enwongomfon–Umoh, who is a nursing mother.

Williams, who is said to be in her late 30s, was said to have emptied a bucket of hot water on Mabel after they had a minor argument in their rented house on Thursday, December 24, 2015, around 8pm.

The incident left Mabel, who was still breastfeeding her two-month-old baby, with severe burns on many parts of her body, including her two breasts and abdomen.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the woman had not been able to breastfeed her baby since the incident happened.

The husband of the victim, who identified himself simply as Umoh, told PUNCH Metro that Williams attempted to escape after assaulting his wife, but he was able to apprehend and hand her over to the police.

Mabel, 27, who was evidently writhing in pains on the hospital bed when our correspondent visited, toldPUNCH Metro that it was a fight between some of her co-tenants in front of her room that led to the incident.

She explained that Williams, who poured the water on her, had nothing to do with the quarrel.

She said, “My neighbour’s brother and his girlfriend were fighting and they pushed themselves to the front of my door. When I could not cope with the disturbance again, I went outside to call the guy’s sister to come and separate them or make them leave our entrance.
“As I was going back to my room, Williams, who had nothing with the fight, asked why I called the sister, saying I was interfering in something that did not concern me. I told her that they were fighting in front of my room, but she pushed me. I was surprised because we never had a quarrel before then.“That was how we started shouting on each other.”

She recalled that it was the noise from the fight that drew the attention of her husband who was in the room with their two children. She said her husband came out to separate them and they were already going back to their apartment when Mabel ran into her room to carry the bucket of water and poured it on her.

She said, “I was in the front while my husband was behind me. Suddenly, she went into her room and came out with a bucket and poured the content on me.
“I have been in serious pain since then, and I have not been able to breastfeed my two-month-old baby, who is my second child.”

A police source told our correspondent that Williams had confessed to the crime and that she blamed the devil for the act.

“She would be charged to court,” the source said.

Lagos Big Boy Kills Girlfriend On Christmas Day, On The Run

When a lady pack her things and go live in a man's house because he can buy shawarma and new phone for her, without two of them knowing much about themselves... most times na wahala you go see.

Homicide detectives of the Lagos State Police Command have started hunting a young man who stabbed his live-in lover to death at the Festac area of Lagos and has since disappeared.

Policemen hunting the fleeing suspect said feelers they got showed that the man had fled to Benin Republic, assisted by friends. The guy killed his 21-year-old lover, Cecilia Joseph.

Cecelia is reported to have been cohabiting with the man at Waterside Street, Lakeview Estate, Phase 2, Lagos until the ugly incident on Christmas Day.

FFK writes open letter to Buhari

FFK writes open letter to Buhari

Former Aviation Minister Femi Olu-Kayode shared the letter on his Facebook page this afternoon. Read below

Mr. President, as one of your most loyal and faithful subjects who has nothing but the utmost respect for your person and your office, I am constrained to write you this open letter. This is because there are a number of issues that I believe that it is important for you to clarify and to come clean on.

I say this because some of your assertions of late are at best contradictory and at worst patently dishonest. Whichever side of the political divide we are on I believe that we can all agree on one thing: that the prosecution of the war against terror is not something that any of us should play politics with. This is especially so given the fact that human lives are at stake and the very existence of our nation is under threat. Like much of the rest of the world our country is going through hell at the hands of the jihadists and Islamist terrorists.

There is no gainsaying that we must all come to terms with the fact that the Islamic State in the Levant (ISIL), Al Qaeda, the Taliban, Al Shabab, Boko Haram, Hamas and another group that the internationally-respected Global Terror Index has described as the ''Fulani militants'' (aka Fulani herdsmen) are nothing but bloodthirsty murderers and the lowest form of life.

They are indeed the scum of the earth, the troublers of humanity and the vermin of hell. It is with this in mind that I urge you to take the war against terror far more seriously than you are doing and plead with you to stop passing the buck.

Your penchant for blaming your failings in this regard on the previous administration is simply nauseating and it does not serve you well.

You continuously contradict yourself when it comes to this matter and frankly such flip flops are unworthy of the office that you presently occupy.

We your subjects look up to you for consistency, strength, unequivocal commitment, a firm resolve and the ''leadership from the front'' that you promised during your presidential campaign in this war. We do not want and neither do we need doublespeak, lame excuses and buck passing.

Permit me to point out a few examples of your contradictory assertions and your buck passing in this short intervention. Initially you claimed that your predecessor in office President Goodluck Jonathan never bought any arms and that instead he squandered and stole all the money that was appropriated for the procurement of arms.

Yet when the British Minister of Defense visited you in the Presidential Villa the other day the story changed. You did a U-turn and gleefully told him and the wider world that President Jonathan bought arms with raw cash.

One wonders which story you shall come up with next and which one you will conjure up in the future. Kindly tell us what the position is: is it that Jonathan did not buy arms at all and stole all the money or is it that he used cash to buy arms? You cannot have it both ways. It is either one or the other.

Quite apart from your glaring doublespeak on this matter there was another issue which you ought to have raised with your highly esteemed and respected British guest.

You forgot to tell him that his was one of the countries that not only refused to sell weapons to us during the course of this bitter conflict but that also helped to impose and enforce the international arms embargo on our country even though we are at war.

This resulted in the unnecessary death of thousands of our people because we found it difficult to procure the weapons to protect them.

Your guest’s country insisted on towing the American line and doing this to us even though we were fighting a war against a relentless, well-motivated, well-funded and well-armed fighting force that Global Terror Index has described as the ''deadliest terrorist organization in the world''. One is forced to ask: with friends like this who needs enemies?

Given the fact that the embargo was in place one wonders how we were supposed to procure arms unless we did so with raw cash on the black market.

The alternative was to buy none at all, to do nothing and to allow Boko Haram to take Abuja, Port Harcourt, Enugu and Lagos. Perhaps that is precisely what your western friends and allies wanted but thankfully it never came to pass.

Despite the challenges and constraints President Jonathan faced, instead of losing any more ground, he rose to the occasion and retook no less than 22 local government areas and virtually pushed Boko Haram out of Nigeria. The only place that they occupied by the time the election took place was Sambisa forest.

Jonathan achieved all this with those arms that he bought with raw cash. This is apparently what you are now complaining about. Permit me to remind you that it is those same arms that Jonathan bought with raw cash that your army is still using till today.

Yet sadly since you were sworn in as President seven months ago you have lost some of those same local government areas that were earlier recovered and they are now back in the hands of the terrorists.

Despite this you keep telling the international community and the Nigerian people that we are ''making progress'' in the war against terror.

As a matter of fact you went as far as to say that we had ''won the war'' against Boko Haram and your Minister of Information, Mr. Lai Mohammed, echoed that grotesque mendacity and reiterated that sentiment by adding the words ''technically won'' (whatever that may mean) to the equation.

Sadly, two days later, on Christmas day, in what can only be described as an eloquent response from the terrorists, scores of innocent civilians were killed by Boko Haram in Borno state and a whole community was burnt to the ground.

Again on Sunday 27th of December Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state, came under heavy attack from the terrorists. So much for having ''won the war against Boko Haram'', whether ''technically'' or otherwise.

Instead of conceding that you had told the Nigerian people a pernicious lie, curiously the next thing that you did was to tell them that you would ''persuade Boko Haram to drop their arms''. One is compelled to ask: why would you have to persuade them to drop their arms if you had already defeated them and won the war against them?

In any case this would be the first time in the history of modern warfare that a sitting President has sought to destroy and defeat a vicious and relentless terrorist organization and win the war against terror simply with the awesome and devastating weapon of persuasion.

Perhaps you should recommend that same tactic to the Americans and the rest of the international community as an effective and credible weapon to adopt in their war against ISIL, Al Qaeda, Al Shabab, Hamas and all the other jihadist groups that plague the world.

Whilst you are at it perhaps you could also persuade Boko Haram to free the Chibok girls. It is disturbing to note that despite all your campaign promises and assurances that once you are elected President the girls would be rescued or returned, nothing has been done or heard about any of them ever since you were sworn in.

Worst still the Bring Back Our Girls Group, which was essentially an appendage of your election organization, together with its distinguished leaders and conveners, appear to have gone very quiet. I guess they are busy trying to persuade Boko Haram to drop their arms too.

The truth is that it is time for you to free yourself from your monumental delusions and to get real. Sadly you appear to be detached from reality.

Instead of fighting the war against terror you are making it worse by slaughtering one thousand Shia Muslims in Zaria on December 12th, locking up their leader Sheik Ibrahim El Zakzaky and opening yet another war front in our country.

The last thing that we need is for Hezbollah or the Iranian Republican Guard to rise to the occasion, take up the challenge, jump into the fray and decide to protect and avenge their Shia Muslim brothers and sisters in northern Nigeria.

Yet despite the reprehensible and indefensible actions of your military commanders in Zaria you have refused to show any remorse for what was undoubtedly a war crime against fellow Nigerians and you have not prosecuted the officers and military personnel that were involved in the butchery.

Instead the homes of the victims and those that share their Shia faith have been burnt to the ground in Zaria and their graves and burial sites have been dug up and desecrated.

Instead of fighting Boko Haram you are fighting and killing your own people. Worse still you have refused to defend our country. I say this because a few days ago the Cameroonian military invaded our country, violated our territorial integrity and savagely murdered over 70 innocent Nigerians in their village before burning it down.

Your government refused to acknowledge that this event even took place, despite the media reports. You did not console or express condolences to the families of the victims or retaliate against the Cameroonians.

You did not even warn them or demand an apology or reparations from them. This is heartless and shameful. It could not have happened under Jonathan, Obasanjo, Babangida, Shagari, Abacha, Abubakar, Shonekan, Mohammed, Balewa or indeed any other former Nigerian President or Head of State.

If any of them had been in power and the Cameroonians cultivated the effrontery to do such a thing there would have been consequences.

Yet you did nothing to avenge this affront or to defend our honor. What happened to the gallant and brave General Buhari that courageously led our troops into victory in Chad in the early 1980's?

What happened to the honest and forthright man that we all admired and looked up to because of his military exploits in Chad?

What happened to the war hero that gave the Chadians a ''bloody nose'' for daring to attack a Nigerian village and that almost took Ndjamena, the Chadian capital?

What happened to the man that proved to the Libyans and their Chadian proxies that Nigerians knew how to fight? It appears that you have changed and that you are no longer the man that you used to be.

Instead of being honest with our people you have insisted on selling them a dummy and telling them a lie. You refuse to tell the world that our military is terribly demoralized, our soldiers are suffering heavy casualties and are not being paid their salaries regularly and, worse of all, that you have failed to procure a single bullet or weapon for them to use in the last seven months since you came to power.

Instead of deploying all the power of the state against Boko Haram you have spent all your energy and resources trying to teach the former National Security Advisor, Colonel Sambo Dasuki, and all your other perceived enemies the lesson of their lives by misrepresenting them before the world, subjecting them to state-sponsored tyranny and the most insidious form of persecution, violating their human rights and lying to the world that they stole and shared money that was meant for the purchase of arms.

You have also misled and misinformed the Nigerian people about the rules and conventions that are applied when it comes to the administration of security funds and about the fact that it is the National Assembly alone that has the right to probe the use of such funds as part of their oversight functions.

To cap it all you have claimed you did not receive any benefit from the NSA 's office whilst Jonathan was in power. This is an assertion which we all know is, at best, questionable.

You must be mindful of the fact that God hates liars and He despises those that abuse power. You must remember that the more you scorn God's counsel and mock His admonitions the more your errors will be made manifest and the more your people will suffer.

You must understand that any leader or government that is motivated by bitterness, fear, hate, vengeance and malice will eventually hit the rocks and crash like a pack of cards. You must appreciate the fact that God is watching and that He sees and knows all.

May the Lord have mercy on you and may He forgive you for your many sins and wicked ways. God bless Nigeria.‎

Who are the Ijebu ?

Who Are The Ijebu??
.

The origin of the Ijebus has been variously given ; one account makes them spring from the victims offered in sacrifice by the King of Benin to the god of the ocean, hence the term Ijebu from Ije-ibu, i.e., the food of the deep. The Ijebus themselves claim to have descended from Oba-nita, as they say of themselves,” Ogetiele, eru Obanita,” i.e., Ogetiele/ servants of Obanita.

But who was this Oba-nita ? Tradition says he also was a victim of sacrifice by the Olowu or King of Owu. It was said that the Olowu offered in sacrifice a human being where two roads cross ; this was termed ” Ebo-ni-ita,” a sacrifice on the highway, the victim being mangled and left for dead ; he, however, revived at night, and crawled away into the forest, where he subsequently recovered and survived. He lived on fruits, on the chase, and then did a bit of farming. With an access of population, being the oldest man met in those parts, he was regarded as the father, and subsequent generations call him their ancestor, and so the Ijebu tribe was formed, and the term ” Ebonita ” (a sacrifice on the highway) was converted to ” Obanita ” (a king on the highway).

There was really nobody of that name. A forest is still shown near the village of Aha where he is annually worshipped, from whence he was supposed to have ascended into heaven.

It is rather curious that both accounts should have made them descended from victims of human sacrifices. This latter account is reconcilable with the former, which says they are ” the food of the deep,” for the population of which Ebonita was the head may have been largely augmented by the victims of the ocean so as to give the name Ije-ibu to the whole of them.

There are also other important facts and curious coincidences connected with the Ijebus which have strong bearings on this tradition of their origin.

1. Of all the Yoruba tribes, with the exception of the Ifes they were the most addicted to human sacrifices, which they practiced up to 1892 when the country was conquered by the English. The victim also usually offered to ” Obanita ” annually was always a human being, but this was never killed ; he was however, always acted upon in some way or other unknown (by magic arts) that he always became demented, and left to wander about sheepishly in the Aha Forest, until he perished there. This is, no doubt, due to the fact that the ancestor ” Ebonita ” himself, when a victim, was not killed outright.

2. They were, before the conquest, the most exclusive and inhospitable of the whole of the tribes. Very few, if any, outsiders were ever known to have walked through the country with impunity under any circumstance whatever ; not a few of those who attempted to do so were never seen nor heard of any more ! Commercial transactions with outsiders were carried on in the frontier or in the borders of neighbouring towns.

3. And if the latter account of their origin from the Owu victim be the correct one, it is very singular indeed that it was mainly due to the Ijebus with their firearms that the Owns owed their fall and complete annihilation as an independent state to this day. The King of the Ijebus is known as the Awujale. His origin was thus given by authentic tradition, the event with which it is connected having occurred within authentic history :

There were formerly two important towns called Owu Ipole and Iseyin Odo in a district between the Owus and Ifes ; they were settlements from the city of Owu and Iseyin respectively. A quarrel once arose between them on the matter of boundaries, and the dispute having been carried on for many years, developed into an open fight, and both the Olowu and the Owoni of Ife (both being interested parties) were unable to put an end to the strife. Messengers were now sent to the King at Oyo who sent out a special Ilari and a large number of attendants to put an end to the strife. The person of an Ilari being inviolable, he came and settled down between the two contending parties, in the midst of the disputed plot, and thus compelled them to keep, the peace.

The Ilari was named ” Agbejaile or Alajaile ” (an arbiter of landed dispute). This term was subsequently softermed, down to Awujale. This event occurred during the reign of King Jayin.

As it was customary to pay royal honours to the King’s messengers out of courtesy, this Ilari was accorded royal honours in due form, and he remained there permanently and became the King of that region over the Ijebus who up to that time had no tribal ” king ” of their own and rather held themselves aloof from their neighbours. Subsequently he removed to Ode.

The Awujale ranks after the Oyo provincial kings such as the Onikoyi, Olafa, Aresa, Aseyin.

I’ve Been Stripped Naked – Mother of Twin Brothers Killed By Drunken Policeman Cries

I’ve Been Stripped Naked – Mother of Twin Brothers Killed By Drunken Policeman Cries

75yrs old Beatrice Oyesolu, the mother of twin brothers who were shot dead on Saturday by a trigger-happy policeman guarding Paulson Hotel on Anibaba Street, Ketu-Ikosi, Lagos, says the promises her children made to her had been shattered.

The septuagenarian said her now late children ─ Taiye, a naval officer and Kehinde, an engineer ─ had plans to start building her a house next month before the tragedy struck.

The twin brothers, aged 34, who hailed from Oro, Kwara State, were bachelors.

The drunken policeman, late Stephen James, had opened fire on the brothers and their friend, Jeje, who was celebrating his birthday on the fateful day. The trio had cautioned him to stop harassing customers, who reportedly declined to buy him bottles of beer.

The late James, said to be a drug addict and notorious for shooting sporadically, killed the twins and their friend before he shot himself dead.

It took entreaties from residents around the hotel to stop angry mob who wanted to set the facility on fire.

Sympathisers thronged a house in the community, where the twins’ mother, who lived in Mile 12, was taken to. The sympathisers rallied round her as she cried uncontrollably.

She said, “I just came back from church yesterday when they broke the news of their death to me. The government should help me because Taiye and Kehinde were the only hope I have. I have been stripped naked because they are my clothes. Who will I turn to now?

“They promised me a lot of things next year. They wanted to start building a house on my parcel of land next month. This is the seventh month after the death of their father.”

A relative, who did not want his name in print, demanded that the police should be made to compensate the mother of the deceased.

He said, “Why was he given a gun when they knew he was a drunk? The police must be sued. They should also pay compensation to the mother.”

The aunt of the deceased, Mrs. Afusat Salaudeen, said the death was a big loss to the entire family.

Lagos Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, during a visit to the scene on Sunday condemned the act of the late officer, saying it betrayed the ethics preached by the IG of Police, Solomon Arase.

He said, “The incident is a devastating one and it is normal for me to visit the scene of the crime. It is also important to see the family of the victims. The IG is aware and saddened by the development. The action of the killer-cop negates what the IG preaches about. The IG has said policemen should not be posted to unauthorised places. The action of the cop negates all of that.

“As a measure to prevent occurrences like this, we have always put up monitoring in place to check the activities of policemen anywhere they may be serving to ensure that they conform to rules and regulation. We are doing everything to ensure that this type of sad incident does not happen again.”

Arms Deal Money: Ex-Minister From Lagos Flees, On The Run

Arms Deal Money: Ex-Minister From Lagos Flees, On The Run

*EFCC Traces Another Billions To Four Company Accounts
How much of the $2.1bn arms purchase cash went into the Ekiti and Osun states governorship elections? What role did a former minister play in the alleged diversion of the funds?

These are some of the questions the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is now in the process of unraveling in its probe of the phoney arms deals that almost emptied Nigeria's treasury.

EFCC has discovered how the cash was wired into the former minister’s accounts...

Governorship elections were held in Ekiti (June 2014) and in Osun (August 2014). But the former minister, one of the leading lights of the PDP in the Southwest, has sneaked out of the country.

It was learnt that he may relocate from his hideout because it is considered as “unsafe” for him. There are fears that if he remains in the hideout, his extradition for trial would be easier.

A source told The Nation that, “The huge funds were paid into the accounts of the ex-Minister for elections in the two states. There are allegations that the funds were not disbursed as expected because the candidates had their own campaign funds.

“Some military and security personnel were to benefit from the slush funds, they were also shortchanged.”

Bankers who managed the accounts have already given some information to EFCC investigators.

“But we have discovered that the ex-Minister has sneaked out of the country. As soon as we establish his whereabouts, we know what to do,” the source said.

It was gathered that another N1.450billion fraud had been uncovered by the EFCC following revelations by one of the accused persons on trial.

The discovery is contained in the heap of evidence filed in the court by EFCC for the trial of 10 suspects.

The money was paid into some accounts which were submitted by a “former Accountant-General” whose identity the suspect in the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) refused to disclose.

“I could remember the following companies and account numbers were submitted by the former Accountant-General which we paid monies into. Below are the companies and amounts so far paid:

Stellavera Dev Company(N300m); First Aralac Global Limited(N300m); First Aralac Global Limited(N100m); Damaris Mode(N300m); Stellavera Dev Company(N200m) and Whese Farms Ltd(N250m).

“I was directed to pay monies into the above accounts. I do not know what the monies were meant for," the accused person said.

Meanwhile, a Staff Officer, Account 1, Yazidu Ibrahim has disclosed that most payments from the ONSA were meant to pursue the PDP presidential election.

He claims to have payment vouchers of all funds remitted to PDP beneficiaries, companies and contractors. He made the disclosures in a statement made to EFCC as a witness.

Ibrahim said: “My duties include recording financial transactions and to keep custody of all duplicate copies of financial transactions. Also to prepare bank reconciliation statements and to collect statements from all banks.

“The year 2014-2015 transactions were mainly to support the presidential election of the ruling PDP.

“Those payments to contractors or individuals by deposit into their accounts were based on instructions from the DFA. The tellers are attached to the payment vouchers.

“All payments to contractors are based on directive from DFA. Sometimes, there is accompanying document; most times, there is nothing except account details of contractors.”
