A Catholic priest slammed with N5bn lawsuit over alleged fake prophesy

A Catholic reverend has been slammed with a N5billion lawsuit over an alleged fake prophesy .Prince Orji Orizu, second son of the 1st Republic Senate President, late Abyssinia Orizu is infuriated over a prophesy by Catholic Reverend Fr. Chidozie Chilaka, aka ‘Jesus Network,’. The reverend allegedly said that he (Orji), was responsible for the misfortunes of his uncle’s wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Orizu and those of her children.

Rev. Fr. Chilaka, an evangelist based in Isiala Mbano, Imo State, had allegedly called out one Mrs. Orizu, Prince Orji Orizu’s uncle’s wife, during his week-long crusade at Nigeria Science and Technical College, Nnewi and told her that she had been under a spell from Prince Orji Orizu.

The priest allegedly told the woman that all her daughters’ broken marriages were caused by the legal luminary, promising that he would nullify curses inflicted on them by the former first Republic Senate President’s son.
But reacting to the allegation while addressing newsmen in his house in Nnewi, Prince Orji allegedly challenged the Reverend, saying,

”any Nigerian, native doctor, any child or agent of a native doctor and anybody connected to any native doctor in or outside Nigeria who can say he had ever visited or patronized them, should come out and speak.”

The infuriated Prince also urged the ‘likes of such people who claim to have seen him in the house of any native doctor anywhere in or outside Nigeria, to speak out.

A Girl nearly dies after her superstitious dad let a cobra bite her wrist to cure her ailments

A Chinese man has deliberately let a venomous snake bite his ill daughter in a desperate bid to treat her blood disorder.

She almost lost her life and had to be rushed to the hospital for anti-venom serum.Mengyao's father, 33-year-old Wang Jingshuai, said he followed a folk remedy, which claims a cobra's venom could cure anemia, after he could no longer afford his daughter's medical bills.

According to him, Mengyao had a two-week fever in January 2011.

She was later diagnosed with aplastic anemia by the No. 2 Provincial Hospital in Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province.Wang Jingshuai said the family had spent all its savings trying to save the girl in the past five years

Although Jingshuai said he had hesitation at the beginning, he later decided to take the risk and asked a friend to send him a venomous reptile from south China.

The man stated that his daughter refused to be bitten after seeing the snake.Jingshuai allegedly pinned down Mengyao's by her arm while holding the cobra to her wrist.

The daughter immediately fell ill after the 'treatment', said a regretful Jingshuai. The father rushed his daughter to the hospital, where she was saved by anti-venom serum

Two UK based Nigerian fraudsters who duped a woman out of £1.6m sentenced to prison in London

Two UK based Nigerian fraudsters who duped a woman out of £1.6m sentenced to prison in London

Two Nigerian men who duped a woman out of £1.6 million in a sophisticated romance scam were today, Friday, January 8, jailed for a total of 5-and-a-half years at Basildon Crown Court.

Ife Ojo, 31, (left) of Hammonds Drive, Peterborough in Cambridgeshire was jailed for 34 months for conspiracy to defraud. His accomplice Olusegun Agbaje (right), 43, of Kershaw Close, Hornchurch in Essex was jailed for 32 months for conspiracy to defraud.

Detective Chief Inspector Gary Miles, of FALCON - the Met’s specialist Cyber Crime and Fraud Unit, said:

"Today’s sentencing recognises the devastating impact this kind of fraud has on its victims. I would like to pay tribute to the victim in this case who provided evidence which was crucial in securing two guilty pleas in this case.

"The financial and emotional impact to the victim has been huge. Many victims borrow money from friends and family to pay the suspects. Victims typically feel embarrassed and ashamed when they realise they have been duped, so they often don't report what has happened to them or even confide in a friend."

In January 2015, a woman in her 40s, from Hillingdon, reported to Action Fraud that she had been a victim of fraud. The case was referred the Met's cyber crime and fraud team, FALCON.

The victim told police that in February 2014 she met a man calling himself Christian Anderson on a dating site. After a few weeks, they met in person. He told her that he was an engineer working in the oil industry, that he was divorced and had a daughter, and that his father and sister died of cancer.

After a few weeks, he told her that he loved her. He said he was having a difficult time working on a project in Benin, Africa. He said that he wanted to come home to be with her but first he needed some specialist machinery so he could finish the project. He asked her for a loan to pay import duty for the machinery.

She paid over £30,000 into the business account of his supposed personal assistant, a man allegedly called Brandon Platt, but Anderson then requested more cash, ranging from £25,000 for a police fine, to thousands of pounds to free up inheritance money left by his mother, who lived in Cape Town.

He told her that he wanted to use the inheritance money to set up a life with the victim. Fees for freeing up the inheritance money included costs for holding it in a vault in Amsterdam and $170,000 to pay for a non-existent "anti-terrorist certificate" so that the money could be deposited at a bank.

The victim had been convinced that they would live together, and had been looking for a home for them to buy. She met with someone claiming to be Anderson's lawyer, and even travelled to an office in Amsterdam to meet a man calling himself Dr Spencer, who was supposedly responsible for holding the money in a vault.

Between March and December 2014, the victim paid £1.6million into numerous bank accounts.

The money was subsequently transferred into various personal accounts, including £35,000 to the bank accounts of Ife Ojo and Olusegun Agbaje. The victim doubted the authenticity of Anderson's stories on numerous occasions but every time she asked for proof he sent false documentation or made up excuses for why he could not send her evidence.

FALCON carried out a financial investigation. They identified Agbaje as one of the recipients of the victim's money and went to his home address where they found him with Ojo. Both were arrested and their homes searched. At Ojo's home, they found a laptop containing records of the victim's conversation with Anderson, a memento book seemingly sent to Anderson by another victim and a copy of the book 'The Game'.

FALCON established that they had received £35,000 of the victim's cash and charged them. In September 2015, Ojo, a student from Peterborough and Agbaje, an administrative assistant of Hornchurch both pleaded guilty to conspiracy to defraud at Basildon Crown Court.

Detectives are continuing their enquiries as they seek other members of the gang and try to identify any other victims.

Toni Payne Engaged, Set To Remarry: 9ice’s Ex-Wife Finally Forgives Him 6 Years After Divorce

Toni Payne Engaged, Set To Remarry: 9ice’s Ex-Wife Finally Forgives Him 6 Years After Divorce

Six years after a messy divorce, US-based business woman Toni Payne, the former wife of Gongo Aso crooner, Abolore Akande aka 9ice is set to remarry.

According to Daily Telegraph, Miss Payne has publicly disclosed that she has forgiven the man she once loved but with whom she fell out. Toni, who has a child for the singer named Zion, wrote an open letter letting the singer know that whatever bitterness she had for him has been forgiven. She explained that she had to do that after six years because she has been doing well for herself and it has not been her power, but God and as such, it was necessary that she forgives him.

The confession partly reads, “It has been a good six years and now I can categorically say I have let go of all bitterness and hate I felt for a man I once loved. It has been an uphill journey, but to find myself here is a blessing.” Not wanting to recall how the past was, Toni explained that her marriage breakup should be blamed on wrong decision and bad press as she wonders how everything played out so fast that brought the whole sadness. “Without getting into detail and backtracking too much, I’ll summarize it as a lot of naivety, a lot of bad decisions, and a lot of untrained media professionals ready to blow things out of proportion.

A man sang a song. And for whatever reason known to them, Nigerian media “professionals” decided to tag it as what it was not, and a lot of Nigerian onlookers decided to help spread it without knowing if it was true or not. And unfortunately for me, I was caught in the crossfire. A lot of people formed opinions about me, some even hate me till today for something that was mere fiction. Such is life, right? Till today, I still wonder how things got that far. I wonder how things got so nasty. I wonder how a once beautiful relationship turned so sour so quickly… These days, we talk – a lot. We talk about what happened and how we got here.

These days, we can now joke and laugh about the past. I ask a lot of questions because I really want to understand him and put myself in his shoes. I also hope he understands my every reaction and puts himself in my shoes. “Through all the mess, we never really talked deeply about things. There was too much resentment on my side for me to want to allow him in. There was too much bitterness in my soul to ever want to forgive. I honestly never thought this day would come – that is how angry I was.

There is a Yoruba proverb that states, “When the ocean rises, you don’t rise to meet it.” For every action, there is a reaction and for every reaction, there are consequences. “After everything we went through, I always say it is best to keep your private life private. I write this today not to deviate from that, but it would be unfair to forgive wholesomely for something that was so “Public” while leaving the impression that I have not. I know a lot of people think I hate him- I don’t!

Toni Payne is reportedly enjoying a new relationship that is altar-bound but has kept the identity of her man from the public to avoid a repeat of what happened in her first marriage.

Net present value vs internal rate of return

Net present value vs internal rate of return

Independent vs dependent projects

NPV and IRR methods are closely related because:

i) both are time-adjusted measures of profitability, and
ii) their mathematical formulas are almost identical.

So, which method leads to an optimal decision: IRR or NPV?

a) NPV vs IRR: Independent projects

Independent project: Selecting one project does not preclude the choosing of the other.

With conventional cash flows (-|+|+) no conflict in decision arises; in this case both NPV and IRR lead to the same accept/reject decisions.

Figure 6.1 NPV vs IRR Independent projects

If cash flows are discounted at k1, NPV is positive and IRR > k1: accept project.

If cash flows are discounted at k2, NPV is negative and IRR < k2: reject the project.

Mathematical proof: for a project to be acceptable, the NPV must be positive, i.e.

Similarly for the same project to be acceptable:

where R is the IRR.

Since the numerators Ct are identical and positive in both instances:

· implicitly/intuitively R must be greater than k (R > k);
· If NPV = 0 then R = k: the company is indifferent to such a project;
· Hence, IRR and NPV lead to the same decision in this case.

b) NPV vs IRR: Dependent projects

NPV clashes with IRR where mutually exclusive projects exist.

Example:

Agritex is considering building either a one-storey (Project A) or five-storey (Project B) block of offices on a prime site. The following information is available:

Initial Investment Outlay

Net Inflow at the Year End

Project A

-9,500

11,500

Project B

-15,000

18,000

Assume k = 10%, which project should Agritex undertake?

$954.55

$1,363.64

Both projects are of one-year duration:

IRRA:

$11,500 = $9,500 (1 +RA)

= 1.21-1

therefore IRRA = 21%

IRRB:

$18,000 = $15,000(1 + RB)

= 1.2-1

therefore IRRB = 20%

Decision:

Assuming that k = 10%, both projects are acceptable because:

NPVA and NPVB are both positive
IRRA > k AND IRRB > k

Which project is a "better option" for Agritex?

If we use the NPV method:

NPVB ($1,363.64) > NPVA ($954.55): Agritex should choose Project B.

If we use the IRR method:

IRRA (21%) > IRRB (20%): Agritex should choose Project A. See figure 6.2.

Figure 6.2 NPV vs IRR: Dependent projects

Up to a discount rate of ko: project B is superior to project A, therefore project B is preferred to project A.

Beyond the point ko: project A is superior to project B, therefore project A is preferred to project B

The two methods do not rank the projects the same.

I ain't sign any peace agreement with babymama, Sophia Momodu , Davido cries out

Earlier today the Daily Sun newspapers reported that the Adelekes and theMomodus have agreed to a peace accord.
Davido and baby-mama, Sophia Momodu have been locked in a media war over the custody of their daughter, Imade, for the past two weeks.

While the baby is presently in the custody of the Adelekes- Davido’s family, the other side- Momodus- are fighting to pry the child from them or have joint custody.
According to the Daily Sun’s report of Thursday, the accord was a result of Wednesday’s meeting between the two families and officials of National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).

However, Davido took to Twitter to laugh off the report, while pointing out that he never signed anything nor made any agreement with the family of his baby-mama, Sophia Momodu.

3,032 pardoned soldiers reject redeployment to N-East to fight Boko Haram

3,032 pardoned soldiers reject redeployment to N-East to fight Boko Haram

The 3032 soldiers, who were pardoned last August for various offences during campaigns against the Islamic terrorist group, Boko Haram, in the North East of Nigeria, have rejected posting to the fronts. The soldiers explained that they were never really pardoned and re-integrated into the Army, but rather, re-sentenced to the war front.

Vanguard learned this created anxiety at the Command and Staff College, Nigerian Army School of Infantry, NASI, Jaji, Kaduna state, when over 3,000 soldiers – who claimed to have been subjected to unimaginable ill treatment after their pardon  were gathered by the Commandant of NASI, Major General Kassim Aldulkareem, to inform them that they have been assigned new riffles and should be ready for deployment to the fronts on the 11 January, 2016.

According to sources, the soldiers complained that they have not been fully re-instated into the Nigerian Army, because attempts by them to report to their units were rejected at their bases since they have no re-instatement letters.
The soldiers also said that since they have been kicked out of the barracks they have not been paid for seven months making their families who live off-barracks begging for food.
It was gathered that, they cried,

“We are not going! Give us re-instatement letters! You are sentencing us back to war,” among others. According to sources, the Commandant hurriedly left when the soldiers were becoming uncontrollable.

One of the soldiers who spoke to some newsmen on grounds that his name not be mentioned said: “Look at me; I have put in about 28 years of my life serving this country. I have seen action in Liberia; I have been to Rwanda, Sudan and even served overseas and we the Nigerian troops did very well and were decorated in some occasions.
“But, our experience in fighting to save our motherland is too sad a story for the outside world to know. We are not cowards. We held on for over four months facing Boko Haram.
“I just want to say that after the Army dismissed about 5,000 of us, 3032 of us were pardoned last August. Since that time, the Army Authority has treated us like prisoners of wars.

“We were told to assemble in Jaji on August 17, which we did. Then on August 19, the General Officer Commander, GOC, of 1st Infantry Division, Maj. Gen Adeniyi Oyebade gathered us and without prior noticed moved us to Nigerian Army training Centre, NATRAC, Kontogora. Some of us found ourselves there in bathroom slippers. We were just taken straight to the place. Then, without any additional clothes or uniform, we were subjected to what was clear punishment, not training for another three weeks.
“Still in the clothes we came, we were again relocated to 333 artillery Barracks, Njetilo, Maiduguri. We got nothing but constant insults as cowards. We were there without uniforms no arms. They just left us there and we were abused and told to assemble at every two hours through these days for another three weeks.
“In Jaji, we went through another round of punishment, not training. Yet, we were not given any letter to show that we are still serving soldiers.
“So when the Commandant came and said we were going back to the North East, without clearing our status, we felt we have been punished enough.” he said.

The Public Relations Officer, PRO, of the Nigerian Infantry Corps, Major C.K Abaide, told our correspondent on phone that he was not aware of the development.

“I shall reach you back immediately I have our side of the story”, he said, but never did at the time of sending this report.

A Father murders his pregnant daughter ,lives with corpse for days

A dad charged with murdering his pregnant daughter allegedly lived with her corpse for days before his arrest. The body of Anndrea Caruth was found stuff stuffed inside a crawlspace next to her father's basement apartment, police said.
The 39-year-old, who was found with a rope wrapped around her throat and torso, struggled to survive in the last minutes of her life, the Daily News reported.
Police said William Caruth, 61, had bite marks on both hands and a cut on the bridge of his nose when he was taken into custody.
Valentina Caiazzo, the previous owner of the family's apartment, told the News:

"She really fought for her life.(Anndrea) was the nicest person. I thought she was good ... this is a shocker."

Mum-to-be Anndrea disappeared on Sunday morning. She had been strangled and smashed in the head, suffering skull fractures and brain injuries.

Police allege that after killing his daughter, her father broke up a concrete floor inside a closet and dumped her body into the crawlspace.
He then placed a piece of plywood and a rug over the hole — but the smell of the body wafted into the house.
A machete and a hammer were recovered from the home, and two additional buckets of gravel were found outside the residence on Corsa Avenue. She was five months pregnant.

There was a dispute between the father and daughter over a second mortgage taken out on the home by Anndrea Caruth, with the dad apparently giving the cash to someone else, one source said.
Records indicate the murdered daughter, four years after taking out a mortgage on the property, took out a larger $280,000 (£191,000) mortgage in 2006.
