Davido's Girlfriend, Chioma Is Like a Prostitute, Her Parents Disown Her After Dropping Out

Davido's Girlfriend, Chioma Is Like a Prostitute, Her Parents Disown Her After Dropping Out

More controversies are emerging over the recent special romance between popular singer Davido and his girlfriend Chioma. According to a lady on Instagram, her parents have disowned her just for dropping out of school for love.

According to the Instagram user, Chioma dropped out of Babcock University to be with Davido and her parents did not approve of it. As a result, they’ve left her to her decision and she no longer lives with them but with some friends.

The fans wrote in the comment section of a post about Chioma:

Quote

Her parents have already disowned her for dropping out of school and that is why she is staying with her sister Jennifer and her friedn Pamelauju..so do you want her to kill herself...shey Davido has promised her assurance already..Life is too short please leave tachi alone

Another fan shed some more light to the secret scenario;

Quote

Common it’s a fact that something is not right with this chioma of a girl..
why is her family quiet? No single words from her parents, her siblings or family members..
It’s obvious that they don’t approve of the relationship. She is still a student in a university and do you think she can continue being a student whileme traveling with davido everywhere?
How can you suffer to train your child in a private university and suddenly she drops out all because of davido? At least put yourself in the position of her parents..
If all this is true then she is on a wrong part that leads to destruction. When the whole world turns on you, your parents got your back. Paying her parents like this is heartbreaking.
And remember earlier before this, some persons have come on the internet to claim the car could have even been bought on lease just like most other celebrities do. But Davido actually debunked that and it was even confirmed by the salesperson that sold the car to him.

Just as it is expected, the trending love story of Davido and his girlfriend Chioma will continue to invoke controversies from different angles, at least for the next few days.
Another man has come out to blast Chioma and according to him, Nigerian ladies are sold into self-inflicted money slavery.

The man identified as Olakunle Alison call Chioma an opportunistic, parasitic and gold-digging sufferer.

As Shared On His Facebook :

Quote

A generation of women sold to money slave camps.
Sticking with a man to whom you are not married and who cheated on you with several women, impregnating two of them in the process (baby mamas) whilst dating you, and then became an accidental ‘baby-daddy’ is NOT LOVE just because he bought you a #45million car.
You are a needy, opportunistic, parasitic, gold-digging, low self-esteem sufferer. A Stockholm syndrome patient. You are not loyal. You are a liar. A prostitute and you share some moral equivalence.
The only reason any woman would endure contemptible treatments from a man is because of what she looks to gain materially and financially. Let’s stop ridiculing the word ‘Love’ for the sake of posterity so that they’d be able to distinguish between virtue and vice.
There is simply no virtue in staying with a man who openly disrespects you over a period of years. None. And buying you the moon and stars will not make up for him treating you like human fecal matter. Money cannot buy moral worth. Rather money distorts moral worth. And that’s what is happening these days.
Permit me to digress a bit whilst I elucidate on point of ethics.
Humans are created with a deep sense of moral worth. This simply means that every human being loves to be treated like a rare and precious stone. It’s just the way our Maker made us. The desire to be loved, admired, desired, respected, treated fairly and kindly is part of our teleology. So when anybody willingly and voluntarily subjects himself or herself to vile and inhumane treatments for other considerations it basically reduces that person to an object rather than a subject. The person has objectified himself or herself.

Believe it or not, what we are witnessing today is one of the unintended fallouts of the extreme faction of feminism: The Moral Self-Depreciation of Womenfolk. After all, the cardinal philosophy of modern feminism is CHOICE and SELF AUTONOMY. So who are we to question a woman who CHOOSES to stay in an abusive but profitable relationship? If she has a right to choose who stays in her body and a right to choose her role in a marriage, why not this?

I once wrote a piece on the tyranny of freewill (choice). Generally, humans don’t have the tool box necessary to make good choices. A man’s choice will only be consistent with his true nature. And man is deeply flawed by nature, hence his choices must necessarily be flawed. A greedy man will always choose money above morals, yet he needs morals more. A dog by nature must bark and a cat moanKnowing this, it is therefore suicidal to build an ideology on human choices and self autonomy. Nobody (man or woman) should be self autonomous. In reality, nobody is. Everyone needs a governing and regulatory authority that sets boundaries; both moral and spatial boundaries. This is necessary for the survival of humanity because our natural appetite is self destructive. We need to be delivered from ourselves.

Feminism is toxic not because of its intended consequences but because of its unintended ones, and we are already seeing them play out. If consistency matters, no hardline feminist should be able to condemn any woman who chooses abuse and disrespect over self dignity. IT IS HER CHOICE!
We should not teach our daughters that CHOICE is the best power they have. Knowledge is. With knowledge they’d understand that they don’t just make choices but that their choices make them.
The young lady’s choice makes her a disgrace.

UEFA Accidentally 'Reveal' This Season's Champions League Winners

UEFA Accidentally 'Reveal' This Season's Champions League Winners

sportbible.com is the source

Did man walk on the moon? Who really shot JFK? How did the Russian official see the ball go over the line? Don't we all love a conspiracy theory. Football's latest controversy comes from the UEFA website.

This week saw two extremely exciting Champions League semi-finals come to a close. Real Madrid were fortunate to get the win over Bayern Munich and in the end Liverpool were also fortunate to beat Roma setting up an intriguing final.

It's been one of the oddest and most fun Champions League knock-out stages in a while with Roma's come back against Barca, Juve's near comeback against Real, Manchester United's embarrassment against Sevilla and Liverpool's demolition of Manchester City's defence amongst the highlights.

Now we're down to the final two and on Tuesday night most people were saying that Real's performance was enough to give Liverpool lots of hope but the Reds' own near collapse led people to change their outlook.

Well it seem that everyone else's opinion doesn't matter because the Champions League winners have already been decided by UEFA, according to their website Liverpool are this year's winners:

This really will be one for the conspiracy theorists, especially those who happen to be fans of Los Blancos.

Real Madrid fans already love to suggest that the European football governing body should be renamed UEFALONA for their perceived favouring of Barcelona, although they were on the end of some favourable decisions against Bayern themselves.

When Mo Salah wins a last minute penalty and Jordan Henderson scores to make it 4-3 to Liverpool from the spot on May 26th don't say you weren't warned!

FG bans import, production of codeine cough syrup

FG bans import, production of codeine cough syrup

Some cough syrup with codeine: Import and production now banned

The Federal Ministry of Health has banned the production and importation of codeine as active pharmaceutical ingredient for cough preparations to check substance abuse among Nigerians.

The Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, made the decision known in a statement issued by Mr Olajide Oshundun, Assistant Director of Information in the ministry, in Abuja on Tuesday.

The minister directed the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) to ban the issuance of permits for the importation of codeine as active pharmaceutical ingredient for cough preparations.

He also directed the Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria, (PCN) and NAFDAC to supervise the recall for labelling and audit trailing of all codeine containing cough syrups nationwide.

Adewole said government had also banned the sale of codeine containing cough syrup without prescription.

He said the directive became necessary due to the gross abuse of codeine in the country.

In this regard, the minister said PCN had been directed to continue enforcement activities on pharmacies, patent and proprietary medicine vendors’ shops and outlets throughout the country.

He also directed NAFDAC to carry out its functions in compliance with the new directives.

The minister said cough syrups containing codeine should be replaced with dextromethorphan which is less addictive.

Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant used to treat coughing, it is also a drug of the morphinan class with sedative, dissociative, and stimulant properties.

Adewole said the ministry would  ensure collaboration among regulatory agencies for effective implementation of extant laws, regulations, policies and guidelines on codeine control and usage.

He said the regulatory agencies included NAFDAC, PCN, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).

“ These agencies shall work together to increase pharmacovigilance around codeine, tramadol and other related substances of abuse,’’ Adewole said.

Adewole said the ministry would partner National Orientation Agency (NOA), Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Football celebrities and other celebrities to drive the national campaign against drug abuse.

“The ministry shall ensure that drug treatment intervention for victims of substances abuse shall be undertaken across the spectrum of health care delivery system in the country,’’ he said.

The minister said Civil Society Organisations would be strengthened to deliver effective sensitisation, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation services.

He renewed the commitment of government to ensure the full implementation of the National Drug Distribution Guideline (NDDG) by Jan. 01, 2019.

He added that the NDDG would also ensure the closure of all open drug markets penultimate the implementation date of the NDDG that is, Dec. 31, 2018.

A governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State Engineer Temitope Stephen Kuyebi has described himself as the ‘wizkid’ to take the mantle of leadership from the incumbent governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun.

Kuyebi who is a member of the board of the Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority (OGFZA), says he has all it takes to be the governor of the state.

The governorship aspirant made this known in Ilaro, Yewa South local government, while declaring his intention to run for the highest political office in the state to party leaders in Ogun West Senatorial district.

Governor Ibikunle Amosun had at a press conference in Abeokuta hinted that he would hand over the mantle of leadership of the state to a wizkid.

Police recruitment: Buhari Orders employment of 6,000 officers

Police recruitment: Buhari Orders employment of 6,000 officers

Nigeria Police Recruitment(Last Updated On: May 1, 2018)

Police recruitment: Buhari Orders employment of 6,000 officers – President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the recruitment of 6,000 additional policemen as part of fresh measures to address the nation’s security challenges including the farmers/herdsmen clashes across the country.

The President made this known in a special interview session with Voice of America, Hausa service, in Washington, United States on Tuesday morning.

President Buhari, who is in the U.S. on the invitation of the American President Donald Trump, revealed that additional security measures were being put in place to check cases of insecurity in Nigeria.

“We will put in place more measures to check insecurity in the country including increasing the number of policemen and train them.

“I have approved the recruitment of 6,000 policemen by the police authorities and I directed that those recruited must come from all the 776 local government areas of the federation.

“Even if it means recruiting one person each from the 776 they should do that instead of going to motor parks, railway stations or market for the recruitment exercise.

“I gave (Police authorities) them this directive,’’ he said.

The president, who expressed reservation on the call for the establishment of state police as being advocated by state governors, said Nigerians must abide by constitutional provision in regard to the matter.

It would be recalled that the Chairman, Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Governor Abdulaziz Yari, had in February said creation of state police would help in addressing the spate of insecurity in the country.

Yari, who is also the Zamfara State Governor, said this at the end of a two-day summit organised by the Senate Ad hoc Committee on Review of Current Security Infrastructure in Nigeria.

He said: “Today we have reiterated the position of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

“And the position of the security summit we held in August, that there is a need for the state police; we can say it is the only answer.”

However, President Buhari maintained that the creation of state police would not augur well for the finances of the states, adding that some of them were finding it difficult to meet their financial obligations to workers and other state needs.

“We must carefully look at the position of the nation’s constitution on the issue of state police before we take a final decision on the matter if the constitution allows state police so be it.

“But don’t forget that many times the Federal Government gave out what we referred to as bail out to state governments for payment of workers’ salaries. How many states can pay salary promptly? and you want to add more financial burden to the states.

“It is not proper to employ a person, train him on how to handle weapons and then refuse to pay him – you can imagine what would happen in such situation,’’ he said.

What Trump Told Buhari In US.

The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, have been in Washington, since Sunday, April 29, after being invited by his United States counterpart, Donald Trump. Read everything President Trump told Muhammadu Buhari in the United States Yesterday.

What Trump Told Buhari In US

PRESIDENT TRUMP:

Thank you very much. It’s an honor to be with President Buhari of Nigeria. We have many things that we do together, as you know, probably — especially on terrorism and terrorism-related.

We also have a very big trade deal that we’re working on for military equipment — helicopters and the like. We have met before. We have developed a great relationship. And we look forward to our discussion today — very important — but again, especially as it relates to terrorism. And that’s terrorism here and terrorism all over the world. It’s a hotbed, and we’re going to be stopping that.

Also, we’ve had very serious problems with Christians who have been murdered, killed in Nigeria. We’re going to be working on that problem, and working on that problem very, very hard, because we can’t allow that to happen.

Mr. President, thank you very much for being here. Thank you.

PRESIDENT BUHARI:

Thank you, Mr. President, very much for inviting me. It’s a great honor. I’m very grateful for it.
Sadly, security is the main issue. We very grateful to the United States for agreeing to give us the aircraft we asked for — the spare parts. We are even more grateful for the physical presence of the United States military (inaudible) that are going to our institutions in Nigeria, and train them and go to the front, in the northeast, to see how they are performing, as an example of the training given to them.

So the commitment of the United States to get rid of terrorism across the world, we have firsthand experience of that, and we are very grateful for it.

The problem about the (inaudible) and jihadists in Nigeria is a very long, historical thing. But the state is most concerned — they know that the Nigerian jihadists never carry anything more than a stick, and occasionally a machete, to cut down foliage and give it to the (inaudible) and carrying AK-47s.

So I don’t think people should underrate what happened in Libya: Forty-three years of Qaddafi. People were recruited from the Sahel; they were caught — and nothing other than shoot and killed.

With the demise of Qaddafi, they moved to their countries, into their regions, and they carried away with them the only experience they have — trained using weapons. And that’s what is aggravating the situation.
We are doing our best to make sure we have stopped the cross-border and so on, and — to get the weapons from the (inaudible) and weapons in the region checked. But it’s going to take time, and the action by the United States in trying to see the end of ISIS has helped us a lot. Because Boko Haram in Nigeria at one time made a statement that they are loyal to ISIS.

Now that ISIS have virtually gone with the help of the United States, we are very grateful for that. And we are sure that we are still (inaudible) the situation and the security in Nigeria.

PRESIDENT TRUMP:

We have very much decimated ISIS. Much has taken place over the last 12 months. But Boko Haram has been terrible. And how did you do with the young women that were kidnapped? How is that going?

PRESIDENT BUHARI:

The Chibok girls and the Dapchi one — the Chibok one was before we came — 2014. But only a number of them — we recovered about 80 of them. But the Dapchi one, there were 106 that were kidnapped. We got 100 back. Four died; one is still held in captivity. And we are very grateful to the United Nations organization that is acting as (inaudible) between us and the kidnappers. And we haven’t given up. We are trying to get everybody back to join their families and their schools.

PRESIDENT TRUMP: A terrible problem. Mr. President, thank you very much, everybody.

PRESIDENT BUHARI: Thank you very much.

PRESIDENT TRUMP: Thank you very much everybody.

Are you working on a deal on immigration?

PRESIDENT TRUMP: Yeah.

24 worshippers killed in Adamawa mosque blasts – Police

24 worshippers killed in Adamawa mosque blasts – Police

Scene of a bomb explosion

The police have confirmed 24 worshippers were killed in a twin-explosion on Tuesday at a mosque in Mubi, Adamawa State, North-east Nigeria.

The blasts occurred while worshippers were holding the Zuhr (afternoon) prayer.

The police spokesperson in the state, Othman Abubakar, a superintendent of police, said the first of the blasts occurred at about 1:00 p.m.

‘’While people were evacuating the victims of the first blast, another explosion occurred,” he told PREMIUM TIMES.

‘’As I am talking to you now, 24 persons are confirmed dead. The scene has been cordoned-off by the Anti-bomb squad and other security personnel,’’ Mr Abubakar said.

Eyewitnesses had earlier reported that ‘’many lives were lost and several persons injured.’’

The explosion was allegedly triggered by a teenage boy wearing a suicide vest.

Garba Habu, a local resident, said he counted over eight corpses at the scene.

‘’A boy of about 18-19 -years wearing a suicide vest was said to have entered the mosque along with other worshippers. Immediately after the prayers, he detonated the bomb,” he said.

Another resident, Isa Danladi, said he was about to leave his house near the mosque when he heard the blast

“Many people died on the spot and several others were taken to hospital with severe injuries,” he said.

“The mosque’s roof was blown off. The prayer was mid-way when the bomber detonated the explosives. This is obviously the work of Boko Haram,” he said.

Haruna HammanFuro, head of Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency, described the blast as “devastating”, saying there were “high casualties”.

‘’It was a twin-blast and the detail is sketchy but we are in touch with our partners of Red Cross and others that are helping now.

‘’For now dead bodies are being evacuated and those injured have been taken to hospitals. Right now we are on our way to Mubi,’’ he said.

There was a suicide attack last November on a mosque at Kunu Araha, a northern suburb of Mubi, which also killed dozens of woshippers.

No group has claimed responsibility for Tuesday’s carnage but many believe Boko Haram to be behind it.

The insurgents briefly overran Mubi in late 2014 as they rampaged across North-east Nigeria, seizing towns and villages in a quest to establish an Islamic state.

The insurgents changed the town’s name to Madinatul Islam, or “City of Islam” , during their occupation.

But it has been peaceful since the Nigerian military and civilian militias ousted recovered the town, which is a commercial hub and host of the Adamawa State University.

In recent months, Boko Haram’s activities had been concentrated in the far north of the state around Madagali, near the boundary with Borno State.

There have been repeated suicide bombings in the area, which lies close to the Sambisa Forest in Borno where the militants had a base.

Boko Haram fighters are also said to be hiding in the Mandara mountains in the east of Adamawa State and on the border with Cameroon.

EXPOSED! How pharmaceutical companies aid abuse of codeine in Nigeria

EXPOSED! How pharmaceutical companies aid abuse of codeine in Nigeria

By Sola Ogundipe

AN undercover investigation  conducted by Africa Eye – a new TV investigations documentary strand from the British Broadcasting Corporation, BBC,  has revealed how  leakages in the Nigerian pharmaceutical industry’s regulatory system is aiding the plague of addiction to cough syrup across Nigeria.

*Experts say codeine syrup is used in treatment of cough, but when abused could lead to full-fledged addiction that is potentially deadly.

The exclusive undercover investigation, co-produced with BBC Pidgin, reveals how highly placed officials of pharmaceutical companies illegally supply codeine syrup  products   from their factories to drug dealers who in turn sell the dangerously addictive, sweet-tasting mixtures to addicts.

A documentary of the investigation entitled: Sweet Sweet Codeine, captures in graphic details activities of the highly organised codeine syrup syndicate.

With access to Nigeria’s crack anti-drug squads, BBC Pidgin journalist, Ruona Meyer, whose brother has struggled with cough syrup addiction, was part of the investigation to unravel the secrets of the syrup plague and to expose the criminals behind it.

“It’s shocking what we found and how much of an epidemic cough syrup abuse has become in Nigeria. Equally shocking is the sheer size of criminal network involved in the illicit trade,” said Adejuwon Soyinka, Editor of the BBC Pidgin, who carried out the investigation.

Soyinka told Vanguard in an interview that the findings raised significant questions.

“The trigger for us was that  we had heard of instances that parents came forward to complain  or talk about their teenaged children in secondary school engaging in codeine addiction.

“To us, that was strange and alarming. We thought it was a big story only to begin looking into it and found that the situation was actually quite deeper and bigger than we thought.

“We found that not only secondary school students were abusing codeine, but university students and other young adults too. It had become a staple in night clubs and birthday parties.

“Again, we found that the real story was not really  about the addiction, but the fact that those abusing codeine syrup were able to come across it in large quantities.

According to Soyinka, the issue was how did they come across large quantities of codeine, an otherwise regulated product that you couldn’t buy just a bottle without prescription?

Codeine is a classified  opiate (narcotics with  high potential for addiction) and it is strictly a prescription-only drug. Under normal use, it acts as a relatively mild opiate,  used medically as effective pain reliever and cough suppressant.

However, codeine is recognised as  a dangerous drug because of increasing usage and abuse  particularly among celebrities, teenagers and young adults.

Medical literature says codeine is typically administered in liquid or pill form and relatively safe when used under the direction of a medical professional to treat minor pain or control troublesome coughs. However, users often abuse codeine for the feelings of relaxation and euphoria they produce.

Codeine abuse can develop into a full-fledged addiction that is potentially deadly.

Like many opiates, withdrawal symptoms from codeine can be quite severe, keeping the user in a cycle of use they find difficult to stop.

In 2017, the House of Representatives asked the National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, to immediately ban  dispensing and sale of codeine across the counter nationwide.

NAFDAC was also urged to ensure that the drug was sold on prescription and called for  design of a central database where prescription data could be logged in to help detect addicts and over prescription.

Recent reports by the Federal Government estimated that about three million bottles of codeine syrup are consumed daily  in northern  Nigeria.

2019: Why I want to be Nigeria’s president – Ahmed Buhari

2019: Why I want to be Nigeria’s president – Ahmed Buhari

April 29, 2018 Agency Report

Ahmed Buhari, the initiator of Ahmed Buhari Youth Movement, says his interest in vying for the office of the president of Nigeria is informed by the need to have a generational change in the leadership of the country.

Mr Buhari, who is a geologist by training, stated this while speaking with journalists on Sunday in Ilorin on the sidelines of his meeting with members of the Ahmed B. Youth Movement in Kwara.

According to him, the youth have lost hope in the current system of governance which has created a wide gulf between the young and old generation, stressing that it was high time the young people participated in politics and governance of the country to avoid vacuum in government.

“Most importantly, our involvement is going to be an enlightenment to young people that it is true that we can do something.

“To let them know that the reason we are doing this is because we understand that if we do not allow responsibility to be transferred from one generation to next generation at the right time, a vacuum will be created.

“If this vacuum is created, a lot can go into that vacuum. It could be herdsmen; it could be Boko Haram; it could be kidnapping; it could be baby factory; it could be armed robbery, it could be a lot of things.

“It is because these young people do not feel any need for them to be looking up for something that hope is lost and so we are trying to revamp young people to understand that they have to participate in politics.

“While they participate in politics, they shouldn’t make money politics a front burner for them. They should be more concerned about how they will even support aspirants so that when they get to the office, those aspirants will be answerable to them.

Senator Shehu Sani Named Suspect In Murder Case, Invited By Police

Senator Shehu Sani Named Suspect In Murder Case, Invited By Police

Senator Shehu Sani

Kaduna State Police Commissioner Austin Iwar has invited Senator Shehu Sani for questioning in a homicide investigation.

The police said he is a person of interest to the murder saga.

They requested the kaduna Central senator to report on April 30.

A letter was routed through the Clerk of the National Assembly. A copy of it was sent to Senate President Bukola Saraki.

“This is in connection with a case of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide transferred to this office by 1 Division, Nigerian Army, Kaduna, alongside with exhibit audio CD in which your name was mentioned by the principal suspect,” CP Iwar said in a letter to Sani.

But the Senator alleged that the Kaduna State government had concluded plans to frame him up with a murder case, necessitating the move by the police to label him as person of interest.

One Isa Garba, one of the suspects in a murder case was said to have implicated the senator.

It was gathered that Sani’s name was mentioned when the suspect, said to have participated in the killings of one Lawal Madugu, implicated another person called Bashir Hamdada.

Although he did not pick telephone calls put across to him by The Nation, the police commissioner was reported to have said that the case was not politically-motivated.

Buhari supporter, Senator Omo-Agege suspended for 90 days

Buhari supporter, Senator Omo-Agege suspended for 90 days

*Senate disbands Buhari support group

The Senate’s hammer fell on another senator yesterday for dissent over the Electoral Act Amendment Bill.

Senator Ovie Omo-Agege (APC Delta Central), who opposed the electoral sequence reorder in the Bill alongside nine others, was suspended for 90 legislative days following the adoption of a report by the Ethics and disciplinary committee headed by Samuel Anyanwu (PDP, Imo East).

President Muhammadu Buhari vetoed the bill.

It reversed the existing sequence of election in the country, placing the National Assembly first, with the presidential election coming last. But the National Assembly is poised to override the veto.

Coming under the aegis of Parliamentary Support Group for Buhari, the group of senators held a media briefing where they openly disagreed with the Senate.

Omo-Agege said during the media briefing that 59 senators were against the bill, a claim he failed to substantiate when called upon to do so.

The Nation reports that the Senate also called on the ten senators to disband the Parliamentary Support Group for Buhari as a condition for maintaining the peace among the lawmakers. It also ordered Omo-Agege to withdraw his case from court.

Presenting the report that nailed Omo-Agege at plenary, Senator Anyanwu said the suspended lawmaker declined to make presentation to the committee on the grounds that he had already taken the matter to court.

When grilled by the Senate on the matter, an obviously overwhelmed Omo-Agege had tendered an apology for his role in the activities of the pro Buhari group. But the apology did not stop the Senate from referring his case to the Ethics and Privileges committee.

In its report, the committee recommended 181 legislative days suspension for Omo-Agege, but it was reduced following the intervention of some senators during the debate.

The report stated among others: “That the committee is of the opinion that the action by Senator Ovie Omo-Agege of going to court after apologising to the Senate was totally unacceptable, especially as an experienced lawyer and member of the committee who is conversant with the modus operandi of same, and therefore must be punished to serve as deterrent to others who might contemplate taking the Senate to court over its internal matters”.

Subtle pleas by Senators Kabiru Marafa, Bala Ibn Na’Allah and Senate Leader, Ahmed Lawan for a more lenient punishment for Omo-Agege failed to the sway the senators who viewed the suspended lawmaker’s action as an affront.

Marafa said, “Omo-Agege to me has the constitutional right to express his views. But like the leader said, I think he has done something which to me deserves commendation. If someone does something that you cannot do we need to commend him. He stood on the floor of the Senate to apologise which to be is a very great thing”.

Na’Allah said, “For anybody here to go and have a press conference and say the Senate had taken a decision against Mr President, is a most uncharitable thing to do. It does not befit his office as a senator.

“But happliy enough, Senator Omo-Agege came here and had the courage to apologise for the statement. But it is much more than that. There are places you dare not talk about the President when some senators are from there. By implication, he is putting their lives at risk.

“As a family, we must have discipline and must live peacefully for this institution and the only way we can do it, is that get the consquence of what they are saying.

“Let us take away sentiments. We are going to leave here whether we like it or not; either through death or whatever. But this institution will remain. We must be very careful about it”.

Senate President Bukola Saraki said the action taken by Omo-Agege and his group smacked of insincerity, saying if they were to be any parliamentary group in support of President Buhari, he, more than anyone else, should lead such a group.

He said: “Those of us that understand politics, understand that because of our own peculiar interests, sometimes some people decide to act like they are holier than thou or more committed — at the expense of others.

“This is not something that we should tolerate, and I believe that in an institution like this, we must show discipline. But at the same time, we must also show compassion.

“Distinguished colleagues, there must be discipline. We must show that such groups must be suspended and the case in court must be withdrawn”.

Before bringing down the gavel to confirm Omo-Agege’s suspension, Saraki said there shouldn’t be any more of such groups in the Senate and that the suspended lawmaker should withdraw his case from court.

“We are not in any hurry to take anybody away from this family; and we must lay down an example by showing that there is discipline and apply some form of discipline on this matter”.

Senator Abaribe Accuses Buhari Of Gross Incompetence Over Herdsmen Comments

Senator Abaribe Accuses Buhari Of Gross Incompetence Over Herdsmen Comments

Thursday’s plenary at the Senate was almost disrupted following a deafening uproar following a claim by Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe that President Muhammadu Buhari is incompetent.

Abaribe’s allegation followed an adopted order 43 which he raised in reference to the excuse which the President gave while in London that the killer herdsmen were allegedly trained by Muammar Gaddafi, the late Libyan revolutionary leader.

In his explanation, Abaribe said, before now, two excuses have been made public in several fora by the Minister of Interior, Abdulrahaman Dambazzau and the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim kpotun Idris, saying the wanton killings by armed herdsmen was because their pastoral routes were blocked while the latter was credited to have said that it was due to the new state laws against open grazing.

He said, “Yesterday in London, President Muhammadu Buhari said the killings in the country was as a result of the people who were trained by the late Muammar Gaddafi. This, therefore, validates my earlier position that the president has failed to take charge of the protection of lives and property across the country as enshrined in our constitution to be his primary responsibility.

"I so make bold to say that the president is incompetent,” Abaribe asserted.

But this generated an uproar as APC senators took the remark of Abaribe as a direct disrespect to Buhari, who is a member and leader of the ruling party.

Senators Ahmed Lawan, the Senate Leader and Ibn Na’Allah, the deputy leader separately raised point of orders urging the red chamber to call Abaribe to order, tender apology and for him to be guided in his remarks.

However, Abaribe, in his apology said, "If any words I used was misunderstood, I apologise".

Yet, the Abia lawmaker was overruled by order 53 raised by Ibn Na’Allah to the effect that Abaribe should not discuss the conduct of the President.

Police have arrested one Victor Umeh who killed his girlfriend, Happiness after he saw her talking to her ex-boyfriend in  theOkota area of Lagos.

It was gathered that the suspect, a married man with five children and trader at Ladipo Market hosted a birthday party for Happiness in a hotel along Ago-Palace Way, Lagos on Saturday, July 29. As the party was going on, Victor saw her conversing with her former boyfriend and left in anger.

A quarrel ensued after Happiness returned to Victor's house located at 5/7 Michael Osisipi Street, off Banjo Oyewele Street, Ago Palace Way. Her shout for help alerted neighbours, including a gateman, identified simply as Adamu.

The neighbours were said to have searched the flat for the victim, only to discover her lifeless body behind Umeh’s window.

“We heard them quarreling, but we thought it was a normal verbal war, until we did not hear Happiness. We decided to find out what was happening, only to meet the lifeless body of Happiness," a neighbour said.

“When Victor saw us, he tried to escape, but we held him and quickly alerted the police from Ago-Okota Division, who came to the scene and arrested him.”

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Ago-Okota Police Station, Mr. Yusuf Abdul, who confirmed the incident said that Umeh was arrested from where he was transferred to the State Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department, SCIID.

"Around 12 midnight, one Osuh came and reported that they heard loud screaming coming from his neighbour’s apartment. He said when he came out to find out what was going on, in company with others, they saw the lifeless body of Happiness whose address and surname are unknown.

“We arrested one Victor, whom the deceased visited, as he was trying to escape. In a bid to frustrate investigation, the suspects hid the deceased’s phone on top of a fence after inserting it inside a packet of cigarettes that contained Indian hemp.

“During interrogation, the suspect told us that they went to a club along Ago-Palace Way to celebrate the deceased’s birthday but when they got there the deceased started talking with her ex-boyfriend and he left in anger for his house. Shortly after he got home, the deceased came to meet him and they had a fight that led to her death."

Happiness’ body has been deposited at Isolo General Hospital Mortuary for autopsy.

Meanwhile, the suspect denied killing her, adding that he did not know how her corpse found its way behind his window.

"I did not kill her. Someone else did because, I met her lifeless body outside my house."

He admitted to have met her last Wednesday at Cele Bus Stop, from where he brought her home.

According to Vanguard investigation, Happiness is said to be from Plateau State. Umeh’s wife and five children travelled to his village in Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State. Immediately after the incident, the suspect contacted his wife to come to Lagos and move his property to the village.

"Our gateman allowed her inside that night because she was seen with Victor the previous day. The gateman was first alerted by the shout for help and by the time he got close to the window, he saw somebody running" said one of the neighbours, who spoke with Vanguard.

"Her desperate shout for help was intensive, but with time it became faint until it stopped. He tried to escape and hide the deceased phone on a fence so as to make it difficult for the Police to trace her death to him. If he had succeeded we would have been in trouble.” he added.

Banky Wellington Recovers from 3rd Skin Cancer tumor Surgery

November 10, 2017

The past few weeks of recovery have been tough, but beautiful. I’m finally back on my feet, feeling stronger and ready to get back to life. I’m especially thankful to my Nurse Susu for loving me and being by my side every step of the way – I don’t deserve U ??,

Banky Wellington popularly known as BankyW took to his social media page to share with friends and fans the story of his recent successful surgery. Banky posted pictures of the scars and made a quite touching statement that would leave you thanking and appreciating the almighty all day.

”A wise man once said this: “Scars. A sign that you had been hurt. A sign that you had been healed.” Scroll through the pictures to see mine.

I’m sharing these because they’re proof of what God has brought me through. And because somewhere out there, I know there’s someone who needs to hear this.

For those who’ve been wondering why I’ve been away so long..I had my 3rd surgery on a rare strain of skin cancer tumours in my shoulder last month. The first 2 times were over 10 yrs ago, then it recently resurfaced. But this isn’t a sad story as much as it is a reminder, and a testimony.

A reminder that you should never take life for granted. You only get 1 shot. Some people went to sleep and never woke up. Many others have lost the battle to cancer and other illnesses. Many are still fighting. U never know when your time will be up so don’t waste another minute. It’s also a testimony about the goodness of God. I think I had to go through this again to remember how merciful God is to me; Lord knows I don’t deserve it but He saves me time and again anyway. I keep saying I need to write a book. I really, really do.

I’m especially thankful to my Nurse Susu for loving me and being by my side every step of the way – I don’t deserve U ??, my parents & siblings, in-laws & close friends for the love, support and prayers, my Pastors – Pastor Tony Rapu & Pastor Del Balogun of TPH, Pastor Taiwo Odukoya and Pastor Bayo Adeyokunnu – for constantly praying with and for me. And of course to Dr Wodajo & Dr Miralli & their teams – who God used to operate on me successfully.

I’m thankful for life, provision and healing. Pls dont feel bad, or msg me with any worries.. God has done it, just thank Him for me.
The pain will eventually go away but the scar won’t – and I’m glad because it’s a reminder to me of what God has done, and evidence to you of what He CAN do. I’m not stronger or better than anyone. I’m just a living testimony that no matter what u face, U can survive & thrive, by God’s grace.”

4 common human causes of car accidents

4 common human causes of car accidents

Here are 4 common human mistakes that lead to car crashes on the road.

Driving a car is not a piece of cake. Actually, it requires a number of skills to have a safe trip. It is estimated that there are about 10 million car accidents happening in the world every year and this number is non-stop year by year.

Nigeria is also not an exception. According to an annual report, human error is one of the main reasons leading to car accidents and crashes in the past few years. Here we list the 4 most popular and dangerous human mistakes to avoid so that you can have a safe trip.

1. Drunk or drugged driving

Drinking and using drugs before or while driving can endanger you. Although drivers themselves know well that they shouldn’t get drunk or use the drug while driving, they still underestimate the influence of these.

Drivers must be alert and focused while sliding behind the wheel unless they fail to control their driving. Not only alcohol could thrust us into danger but smoking pot and other drugs can also make us intoxicated and uncontrollable.

Don’t drink and drive! Leave your car alone if you are inebriated. Taking a taxi is a great idea.

2. Inappropriate speeding

Over speeding is the second leading cause of car accidents after drunk driving. Driving too fast will pose a threat not only to the driver but also the passengers even the pedestrians and traffic participants. However, driving too slow will also put you in trouble with other vehicles especially in the freeways. A study shows that the possibility of a crash increases when the speed is above or below the average speed.

Therefore, adjusting the speed when driving is an important skill that keeps your trip safe. And even when the weather is bad, don’t risk going fast, this can kill you.

3. Tired and sleepy driving

When you are tired, all you need is a rest. When you are sleepy, all you need is a sleep. Otherwise, drowsy driving can lead you to a damage of a crash. When your body needs to sleep, it will tend to get it. So you cannot react promptly and flexibly in case of necessity or even just driving properly.

Alertness is a necessary condition for the driver to sit in front of the steering wheel. You need to take a short rest before driving if you get tired and sleep a little to awake yourself if you are sleepy.

4. Distracted driving

Distracted driving includes any activity that deflects driver’s attention on the go. Drinking, eating, talking and texting on your phone are the most common expressions of distracted driving leading to car accidents.

Care and patience are two qualities that are never excessive especially for drivers. So do not harm yourself and others just because of your distraction.

All you need to know about the Nigerian goalkeeper who made history in La Liga on Sunday

All you need to know about the Nigerian goalkeeper who made history in La Liga on Sunday

Uzoho has a huge chance to have a break-out year with both club and country.

Uzoho Francis, a Nigerian goalkeeper made La Liga history on Sunday.

It was an uneventful afternoon on Sunday, October 15 at the Municipal de Ipurua as host Eibar played out a boring colourless goalless draw with visiting Deportivo La Coruña in a La Liga fixture.

The two mid-table La Liga teams had just nine shots on target between them in the game, a true reflection of the dull game.

The Eibar Vs Deportivo La Coruña stats  (Soccer Punter)

But sometimes you have to go through the rough to get the diamond and from this game, history was made.

The Eibar and Deportivo La Coruna’s game has dominated the Nigerian sports media since Sunday because of 18-year-old goalkeeper Uzoho Francis.

Uzoho Francis made his debut for Deportivo La Coruña on Sunday  (Twitter/La Liga)

Uzoho made his debut for Deportivo in the game, keeping a clean sheet to help his side get a point away from home.

He didn’t have much to do in the game especially in the first half when Deportivo dominated play. But he also showed impressive composure and attention in the game.

He did that very well, guarding his near-post very well to save a shot from the corner of his box in the 12th minute.

He had to wait until the 72nd minute before his next save, calmly collecting a tame shot. In the 80th minute, he showed how decent he was, staying on his toes during a corner kick to quickly dive to catch a shot from the edge of his 18-yard-box.

He was beaten in added time but the Eibar goal was rightly ruled out to be offside.

Uzoho Francis was impressive in he game and kept a clean sheet for Deportivo La Coruña

It was a record-making appearance for the Nigerian who became the youngest foreign goalkeeper to debut in the La Liga.

With the number of legendary non-Spanish goalkeepers we have seen in La Liga history,Uzoho’ achievement is a huge one.

A day that will never disappear from my memory,” Uzoho said about his debut.

Where it all started

Uzoho’s professional football career came to prominence when he was included in the Golden Eaglets squad for the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

He was with the team which had the likes of Kelechi IheanachoIsaac Success and Dele Alampasu. These talented youngsters led Nigeria to the title.

Uzoho, however, did not play in any game at the World Cup and was Golden Eaglets third goalkeeper at the tournament. He only made the cut following the injury to Adeyinka Adewale who was the first choice when Nigeria finished second at the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) earlier in the year.

Deportivo La Coruna

While the likes of Alampasu continued to be in the local limelight, Uzoho had been quiet since his sojourn with the Golden Eaglets in 2013.

He was with the famous Aspire Academy in Qatar before he signed for Deportivo La Coruna in 2016.

Uzoho Francis joined Deportivo

After a year with the youth team, Uzoho is gradually making his way into the first team and his impressive La Liga debut could fasten the process.

Following the exit of German Lux this summer, Deportivo La Coruna manager Pepe Mel is still without a first choice goalkeeper.

Deportivo La Coruña manager Pepe Mel has not decided on his first choice goalkeeper for this season

He surprised everyone by naming Uzoho in the starting XI against Eibar with former Manchester City goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon -who is on loan from Watford- settling for a place on the bench.

Przemysław Tytoń was not named for the game while Ruben Martinez is currently injured.

Super Eagles chance

Super Eagles boss Gernot Rohr has similar problems in his goalkeeper’s unit. With his first choice goalkeeper Carl Ikeme out indefinitely as he continues to battle acute leukaemia, no one has held down the No 1. shirt.

Daniel Akepeyi’s pitiable outing against South Africa in June meant he is not reliable enough and while FC IfeanyiUbah goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa has impressed in three games for the Super Eagles,  he is still very culpable of making rash decisions. Ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, Rohr’s goalkeeping options are very open.

With Carl Ikeme out for an extended time, Super Eagles boss Gernot Rohr has not decided on his first choice goalkeeper

These uncertainties in the goalkeeping units at both club and country present Uzoho with a huge chance to have his break-out year.

Despite his impressive outing against Eibar, he faces an uphill task to hold down the No. 1 jersey at Deportivo La Coruna.

If he manages to do that, then he will surely be on the Super Eagles plane to Russia.

Snail farming in Nigeria; complete information

Snail farming in Nigeria; complete information

Snail farming in Nigeria, Ghana, and Kenya is a very profitable business venture but neglected by a huge number of Nigerians. Its meat is high in protein (12-16%) and iron (45-50 mg/kg), low in fat, and contains almost all the amino acids needed by humans.

Snails also play an important role in folk medicine, like in Ghana, the bluish liquid obtained from its shell when the meat has been removed is believed to be good for infant development. The high iron content of the meat is considered important in treating anemia. Also in the past, it was recommended for combating ulcers and asthma.

Snails can also be exported to foreign countries like Europe and North America. However, with this considerable amount of foreign and local demand Nigerians are still ignorant of this trade.

Types of Snails

There are various species of snails, but this article will concentrate on the Giant African Land Snail (GAL), specifically the species of Achatina achatina, Achatina fulica and Archachatina marginata.

Let’s look at them in a little bit more details

Achatina achatina: The Achatina achatina (giant snail, tiger snail) is a widely distributed snail species especially in West Africa (Particularly in Nigeria, Benin, Cote d’ Ivoire, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Togo, and Liberia). They can grow up to 30 cm in body length and 25cm in shell height. An average adult shell length is 18cm, with an average diameter of 9cm. The species prefers warm conditions 25-30◦C and relative humidity of 80-95% for growing conditions. The conically shaped, fairly pointed shell is brownish with a characteristic of the stripe pattern, that why it is called the tiger snail.

Achatina fulica: The Achatina fulica (garden snail, foolish snail) is a large snail, reaching 20cm in length or occasionally more, with a shell length up to 20cm and a maximum diameter of 12cm. This species originated from in the coastal regions o0f East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania) and by the 19th century, it had extended to Ethopia, southern Somalia, and Northern Mozambique. It can adapt to a wide range of environments, modifying its life to suit local conditions. The conical spiraled shell is predominantly brown with weak, darker branded markings across the spiral. A mature species of this snail weighs 250 grams.

Archachatina marginata: The Archachatina marginata (big black snail, giant African land snail) is large that grows to about 20cm in length and weighs 500 grams. The shell is much less pointed than the Achatina species, the roundness is most obvious in younger animals. The strata in the shell may give the appearance of a “woven” texture. The head of the snail is dark or gray with its foot lightly shaded. They can grow very well in a good drain place and less in a dry place.

Benefits of snail farming in Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana

Production of Meat: As earlier said, a snail can be farmed for meat. Its meat can either be cooked or fried and contains a good amount of protein (12-16%) and Iron (45-50 mg/kg).

Medicinal purpose: The liquid can be used to cleanse the eyes of a victim of snake spittle and in Ghana can be used for infant development.

Source of Employment: Venturing into snail farming as a business can help those who are unemployed in our society.

Factors to consider before Venturing into snail farming in Nigeria.

The site Location

The location of the site plays an important role for snail farming in Nigeria, most species of snails thrives best in areas with a moderate temperature and high humidity. Too much wind can accelerate moisture loss in snails, therefore to prevent moisture the land must be sited in a place that protected from the wind. The soil area is also very important as snails grow well on good soils.

Constructing a snailery

A proper constructing for the housing of snail is necessary because the snail is master escapists. The housing method could be extensive, semi-intensive and intensive, on whatever you decide, it should have escape proof so that you don’t wake up one morning and find your snail in your neighbor’s house or garden.

Rearing density

The stocking density affects the growth of the snails. High stocking density tends to slow down the growth of the snails and develop them into small adults, they equally lay fewer clutches of eggs and fewer eggs per clutch.

Food and Feeding

Food and feeding of snails should not really be a problem because snails are vegetarians and will accept most types of food. However, they avoid plants that have hairy leaves and produce toxic chemicals like physic nuts (Jathropa caras). Please note that snails are not fast growing animals, it takes about 15 months for Achatina achatina to reach full maturity even if they eat a huge quantity of food with quality.

Predators, parasites, and diseases

The predators that can eat your snails includes; man, snakes, mice, rats, frogs and toads, domesticated birds etc. Beware of parasites because they can eat the snails’ body tissue until the snails are reduced to putrefying mass and pupate within the shell, making your investments a waste.

Snail farming in Nigeria is one of the most lucrative, cost effective, easy to run businesses that requires very little capital to run compared to other forms of agricultural practices.

Snail farming does not require big parcel of land. In fact, one can start a commercial snail farming business in one’s backyard. Snail farming is environmental friendly and the cost of feeding them is low.

As simple as the business is, one cannot be a successful snail farmer unless one understands the fundamentals of the business. Knowledge is a prerequisite to any successful venture in life; whether it is snail farming or any business at all.

To become a successful snail farmer, one must acquire skills as to the best condition to breed snails, the types of pen required to rear snails, how they reproduce, the types of food they eat, maintenance of the hatchlings and things that can hinder their growth.

Benefits of snail farming in Nigeria

1. It’s easy to run.

2. It is highly lucrative.

3. It is environmental friendly.

4. Snails are highly productive.

5. Low in fat and cholesterol.

6. Highly medicinal and used for health related products.

7. Has traditional healing benefits.

8. A good export opportunity.

9. It contains iron, vitamin A, calcium, magnesium and has very low fat.

Species of snails reared in Nigeria

There are 3 major types of snails used for snail breeding in Nigeria and Africa in general due to their commercial value. These are: Achatina Marginata (AM), Achatina Achatina (AA) and Achatina Fulica (AF). We will hereby describe each specie with visual images for easy identification.

Identification of Achatina Maginata (AM)

The fleshy part is usually dark brown in color; the shell is blunt and less pointed at the tail end but round unlike the other two species.

AM snail specie, being the biggest of the three species, sells fast in the market. AM is most sought for specie in Nigeria. It has market acceptability more than the other two species.

Achartina Marginata (AM). Photo: Saheed Akinola
Therefore, it is advisable for new farmer to begin with AM rearing. It can grow up to 20cm long in size and produces between 5 to 15 eggs in a single clutch and 2 to 3 clutches in a year.

Archatina Marginata’s (AM) eggs usually take between 21 to 32 days to hatch; its eggs are harder and bigger compared to other species of snails. It takes about 8 to 9 months before it reaches point of laying eggs.

Identification of Achatina Achatina (AA)

AA has sharp tail end like AF. It has a tiger patterned shell. It survives in a more humid environment unlike the AM specie.

Achatina Fulica (AF)

The AF snail is also known as the Garden Snail. The tail end is unusually sharp just like the AA. It is the smallest of the three African giant species. It has low market patronage in Nigeria because of its small sizes. It lays between 200 to 500 eggs in a clutch and can produce up to 3 to 4 clutches a year.

Where to source for your snails

Mature adult snails for farming business could either be sourced from deep forests or from a snail Farm. The only place you shouldn’t buy snails for rearing is your city and local markets. Live snails from such markets are usually stressed and are best for your pot.

Snail House/Soil

The best environment to situate your snail pen is a low plain ground. The farm should not be exposed to excessive wind because too much wind would dry out and dehydrate your snails.

Your snails should not also be exposed to direct sunlight. It is best to have trees like banana or plantain planted around your snail farm.

The ideal soil for Snail pen. Photo: Saheed Akinola
Snails cannot be reared on bare concrete floors without putting soil on it because snails also get some of the calcium required for their growth from soil. The floor of your snail pen must be made up of balanced soil; the soil must neither be too dry nor waterlogged.

You should also make sure the soil of your snail farm is not acidic or clayey as this may be harmful to the snails.

Depending on the scale of snail farming you want to go into, your snails can be reared in a large covered box if you are considering small scale snail farming, or in a concrete pen with soil flooring. Snails could also be reared in trench and free range pens.

The best soil for rearing snails is loamy soil that has low water retention. The soil of your snail farm is highly critical to the growth and survival of the snails because snails derive calcium used for forming its shell from the soil. It also gets its water from the soil and lays its eggs in the soil.

Snail feeds

Feeding is one of the most important factors in snail farming. Snails are easy to feed, they will feed on nearly every organic food source that is non-toxic, including leaves, fruits, vegetables, tubers and household wastes that does not contain table salt.

A mini free range snail pen. Photo: Saheed Akinola
Snails enjoy common food such as fruits and vegetables like banana, melon, cabbage, carrot, pawpaw, lettuce, cucumber, potato, pumpkin, plantain etc. you can equally formulate special feeds for your snails.

It is also encouraged to give calcium supplement to your snails once in a while to help them in the formation of their shells

The most interesting part of snail farming business is that you could start with little capital with few snails and grows within a short period of time. Therefore, I advise every youth and adults including retirees to key into it.
