On Saturday, the 4th of January 2020, Italian based Entrepreneur, Matchmaker and Philanthropist, Francis Van-Lare made a Facebook post with the following words:

 “Will you accept my proposal?

If you are married for less than 10 years and you need some spice in your life and willing to spend a week with me in Venice Italy this summer and we go on a gondola ride together , breakfast for you in bed every morning , spa and massage , Italian fine wine, dancing , shopping etc . When you get back, you will be given $2,000 to give to your loving husband to thank him. Please post your best photo here and tell me why you should be chosen for this trip. Entry closes January 11, 2020 at 5pm GMT

Don’t advertise on this post or else you will be blocked” 

This post saw so many married women signifying interest in the offer and of course with the consent of their husbands.

The post went on to garner over 5 thousand comments as at the time of writing this report. It was in fact the most trending Naija Facebook post for the year 2020. The post elicited reactions from the general populace, most of which weren’t exactly gratifying. While we understand the now trending post has the tendency to be misconstrued at face value, we can’t but help set the records straight.

Firstly, the post sought out to give monetary reward for the husband of the lucky woman (a whopping $2000= 723002.706 NGN) and a trip to Venice with additional incentives like Italian fine wine, massage and spa services to mention others, the post never sought to clarify what exactly he intends to do with the date. This is where the lacuna comes in, which gives credit to insinuations and interpretation of the supposed date. It is understandable people may be tempted to draw a conclusion on the intention of Mr. Francis.

Secondly, the post never at any time sought to infer and opine that he wanted sexual gratification from the to-be-chosen woman, despite the temptation to think otherwise at first glance.

Thirdly, with the lacuna in mind, his intention can be interpreted in many ways. But looking at Mr Francis Van-Lare’s antecedents as a philanthropist, we can hence draw a case scenario of what he might actually plan but chose to keep it to his chest (to add spice to the proposal). Talking of his antecedents, he has been known to have helped the poor and needy in the past, offering scholarship and grants to those in need. He has helped numerous small and large business owners with incentives and most times, financial support. He has paid house-rents for many who couldn’t afford to, paid school fees to under-privileged students to mention a few. He is presently building a hospital in Onitsha to help alleviate the health needs of the constituents around the area.

The fact that can be hence established here is that he is a core philanthropist and a giver. But there is another side to it, he in most cases with wits and turns adds spice to his rants and postulations and this isn’t any different.

The most important and glaring proof to this is he telling the married women to seek consent from their husbands with a promise to giving out a whopping $2000 to the ‘lucky’ man.

This is enough to clarify his intentions but we understand that at face value, his post may show a nefarious intent. But according to privileged information, Mr Francis has a joker up his sleeve.

Now the icing on the cake, he is set to make a major announcement on the offer which will put to rest the various misconceptions that arose from the post.

The offer ends January 11, watch out for the anticipated announcement by then.

Rant HQ Blog reported few hours back about the indecent proposal contest launched by Philanthropist, Francis Van-Lare. We also intimated you guys of a twist in the case, and subsequently alerted you all to await his announcement.

We can authoritatively confirm that a winner has emerged and the contest ended 4 days before the proposed announcement with a shocker! Her husband would make the trip with her and would be the one to give her breakfast in bed among other things!

Ain’t that amazing? Yes, it should be.

I never said I will do all these for her myself , I said she will get all those spice but did not say by who . If I had posted a free trip for couples everyone who thinks inside the box will jump in . Oluwapelumi has her own business and happily married and not hungry but she and her husband do not think in the box . To quote her she participated because someone who wants to sleep with a married woman will not post it on facebook so she thought as if there is no box .

Of course I will travel with them and pay all expenses and bring my Cinderella along too .

Many pastors and social media commentators have insisted that the rape allegations by Busola Dakolo is an attack on the body of Christ. Chief of those is Reno Omokri, former aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan and certified attack dog.

He insists that while he has no love for Biodun Fatoyinbo, the COZA pastor accused of rape, he does not believe the story.

He believes that this is an attack on the church.

This is the  new one; once a pastor is caught stealing money and you complain, boom! "You are attacking the body of Christ"

Pastor quotes his personal convictions as scripture, you disagree, bam! You are attacking the body of Christ.

We cannot call out error of any pastor because once you do that, the "body of Christ" which you people now treat like a piece of clothe will tear. It will scatter, it will melt because Nigerian Body of Christ is made of glass.

But apparently people think it is okay to attack another Christian all day, everyday. As long as he is not a pastor, those ones, perhaps the tissue of Christ.

First, Jesus said, ...I will build my church and the gate of hell shall not prevail."

Matthew 16:18

If anyone is attacking the body of Christ, The number one set of people would be people who nullify his word with false teachings.

Quoting African Traditional Religion instead of scriptures and modifying scriptures to suit selfish gains.

Mark 7: 8; 13

You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to human traditions.”

"Thus you nullify the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And you do many things like that.”

Or a set of people focused strongly on denomination, or persons and not in Christ.

1Cor 3:4

For when one says, "I am of Paul," and another, "I am of Apollos," are you not mere men? What then is Apollos? And what is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, even as the Lord gave opportunity to each one. I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth. So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but God who causes the growth. Now he who plants and he who waters are one; but each will receive his own reward according to his own labor. For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building.

So when you wake up and say stuff like I am a Cozarite, a redeemed, I stand for this pastor or that one, you are the very one dividing the body of Christ.

When you are a "Daddy GO, God of Pastor Yen Yen" Christian. You are dividing the body of Christ.

And thirdly, pastors and teachers who do not model Christ.

For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps.

1 Peter 2:21

In my opinion, having pastors who display extravagance and materialism and literally  bring the world into the church is a threat to the values of any religion. 

I have read about pastors, priests, christian artists outside Nigeria accused of various things. They have stepped down, some confessed, others denied.

Some other times, the church have found a way to cover them but never will you hear that that it is an attack on the body of Christ.

Paul emphasizes to the believers is Collose. 

"See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ. and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority.

Colossians 2:8‭, ‬10

I insist that the Rape allegation by Busola Dakolo is not an attack on the body of Christ. But one that must force both believers and others to examine the live of Biodun Fatoyinbo as a Nigerian Citizen.

And if it is an attack, Biodun should count it joy as Paul did.

While Christians are commanded to entreat matters involving two believers, Rape is a criminal offence against the State. Believers cannot instructively give judgment on that, we can only comment on it and ask the state to intervene.

And the body of Christ could even benefit from it.

A group of devoted Catholics have been crucified to mark Good Friday.

The tradition takes place in the Philippinesevery year and sees hoards of believers nailed to wooden crosses - even though the church does not agree with it.

One of those, Ruben Enaje, has been nailed to a cross every year for the last three decades, with this being his 33rd time.

The 58-year-old takes on the role of Jesus Christ, portraying his death at the mock Calvary in San Pedro Cutud village in Pampanga province.

Actors taking part in the reconstruction, drove four-inch nails through his hands and feet, before raising him up on a wooden cross for five minutes.

Speaking to reporters ahead of the sacred day, Enaje said this is how he finds 'solace'.

He said: "More than penance, this is a solace for me. I feel relieved and happy after every crucifixion because I know that I said my prayers in the best way I can.

"As I carry the cross and be nailed on it, all I do is keep praying, ask for forgiveness and give thanks for all the blessings I have received for the whole year, and ask for another bountiful year."

However, despite having put his body on the line for more than three decades in the name of his faith, Enaje admits he cannot do it forever.

He added: "I am turning 59 years old this coming July. I am getting old and my body can barely handle the physical pain of my penance.

"But I have to consider our village officials. They told me that they still cannot find somebody who can replace me for the role of 'Kristo'.

"Hopefully we can find my replacement soon because as much as I want to do this, I cannot promise until when my body can take the physical pain."

Nine people took part n the extreme act of religious penitence, while dozens of others whipped themselves and carried the large crosses.

Some of the men, who had their faces covered and hands tied to the cross, walked for hours in the baking heat along a main road, around 50 miles from the capital city of Manila.

Other who take part, used bamboo flails to slash their backs.

Job Christian Ong, 16, carried on the family tradition, taking over from his brother, and said he felt 'cleansed'.

He said: "It is difficult yet rewarding."

A Pastor is considering divorcing his wife upon discovering that ‘his children’ don’t belong to him, after DNA tests were being conducted on them.

In his narration, the man revealed that he had an accident years ago before meeting his wife and he was told it would only take a miracle for him to father a child.

Surprisingly, years into their marriage, his wife gave birth to their 1st child and then the 2nd and then the 3rd. But after DNA tests were done on the three children, it was revealed that they belong to another man, though his wife is not aware of this.

I have been married for 14years, we have 3kids (all boys) but none of them belongs to me. I know this for a fact but my wife does not know I know. Let me explain.

5years before I met my wife, I was involved in a car accident together with two of my friends. We were traveling and our car skidded off the road. I was the only survivor of that accident.

l spent about 11months at the hospital and that left me with a condition that says I can’t have children.

i gave my life to Jesus Christ and become a committed Christian after the accident.

In summary, I became a pastor in a local church in my community 5years later, I met my wife in the process. I didn’t tell her about my condition because I was hopeful that God will heal me. 6years of our marriage my got pregnant and had our first child.

To be sure, I secretly went for a DNA and it was clear I wasn’t the father. I repeated the test for all 3children and they are all not mine. I have been living with this situation for the past 8years and I am beginning to get irritated by both the children and my wife.

My Wife pretends to be a good wife. She goes around preaching to women in the church about the need to remain faithful to their partners but she has had 3children by another man or men l don’t know. I want to confront her, but l am confused as how to go about the situation

l am just angry and irritated by everyone in my house lately. I feel like a total stranger in my own home.

Pope Francis has kissed the feet of the South Sudan’s previous warring leaders, imploring them to maintain the “fragile” peace that exists between them.

On Thursday, during a two-day spiritual retreat at the Vatican, the pope pleaded with President Salva Kiir and Riek Machar, his former deputy turned rebel leader, and three other vice presidents to honour the armistice they signed and commit to forming a unity government in May.

“I am asking you as a brother to stay in peace. I am asking you with my heart, let us go forward. There will be many problems but they will not overcome us. Resolve your problems,” the pope said after he performed the rare gesture.

The pontiff who spoke in Italian — which was translated by an aide into English — added that “but in front of the people, hold hands united. So, as simple citizens, you will become fathers of the nation.”

The leaders were apparently shocked to see the 82-year-old pontiff — who was helped by aides — got on his knees with difficulty to kiss the shoes of the two main opposing leaders and several other people in the room.

Kiir and Machar had clashed in 2013, leading to a civil war that left roughly 400,000 people in South Sudan dead. The duo however signed a peace agreement in 2018 that brought the war to an end.

The pontiff’s dramatic and unprecedented gesture is coming barely hours after the military in neighboring Sudan ousted President Omar al-Bashir, its longtime leader, after 30 years of authoritarian rule.

General Overseer of Jesus Intervention Household Ministry, Reverend Prince Ezuma Chizemdere, has been arrested for allegedly having carnal knowledge with some teenaged boys in Ejigbo, a Lagos suburb .

One of his victims, 16-year-old Anthony Shedach, was discovered to have been infected with HIV in the process.

This is just as a teacher was arrested yesterday,in Yaba area of Lagos, for allegedly defiling one of the students with a promise to increase her marks.

Rev. Chemzedere who was arrested by policemen attached to Ejigbo division , was alleged to bring teenaged boys between 15 and 16 years old, to his apartment , where he penetrated them through the anus. At the end of act , the Police said he would give each of the boys N2000.

But the bubble burst after an underage boy whom he allegedly defiled, reported to his parents who subsequently contacted policemen at Ejigbo.

Explaining how the suspect was arrested after going into hiding, spokesman for the Lagos State Police Command, DSP Elkana Bala, said, ” He has been at large for about three months. On March 22, 2009, at about 1am, Police laid siege of the Reverend’s residence based on information gathered that he often sneaked into the house through the back entrance. When he discovered that Police have cordoned his house, he hid himself in the ceiling for two hours. He was however arrested.

“Investigation has it that Reverend Pastor Prince Ezuma brought in about 15 boys into his apartment where he forcefully penetrated them all , through the anus. Some members of the neighborhood revealed that the Reverend usually washes six bedsheets daily whenever he brings in little children, suspected to be his sex partners. On further interrogation, the Reverend revealed that he is HIV positive and has been receiving treatment for over 3 years.

“One 16 years old Ikem Anthony Shedrack, who was one of his victims , was infected with HIV around October 2018. The suspect knew he was HIV positive and was deliberately infecting innocent teenagers and adults.

He further confessed that he pays the boys N2000 each, anytime he had carnal knowledge of them. The suspect will be charged to court

This week this photograph of a pastor promoting polygamy trended. This is not the first time many preachers have endorsed polygamy. 

They insist that because God allowed Abraham, Jacob, David, Solomon to marry many wives, he doesn't have any problem with it.

One says, "The Bible I have read cover to cover is silent in judgement against polygamy.  There's no one that will lose heaven because they married more than one wife. 

You could advise a person not to marry more wives due to the economy or for the fact that his wife may be sad."

Many have also insisted that it is a white's man belief.

This is not only wrong, it is unscriptural. 

Using Solomon as a case study. The fact that  God allowed Solomon to make the choice to many wives doesn't mean that God approved. Permission is definitely NOT approval and indeed Solomon’s choices brought inevitable consequences.

This was God's command long before Solomon came to being or even became King. After the children of Israel had left Egypt, God gave them this command.

Deuteronomy 17:14‭-‬17

"When you come to the land which the Lord your God gives you and you possess it and live there, and then say, We will set a king over us like all the nations that are about us, You shall surely set as king over you him whom the Lord your God will choose. One from among your brethren you shall set as king over you; you may not set a foreigner, who is not your brother, over you. But he shall not multiply horses to himself or cause the people to return to Egypt in order to multiply horses, since the Lord said to you, You shall never return that way. And he shall not multiply wives to himself, that his [mind and] heart turn not away; neither shall he greatly multiply to himself silver and gold."

However during Solomon's reign he flaunted those laws.

Solomon loved many foreign women. Besides the daughter of the king of Egypt he married Hittite women and women from Moab, Ammon, Edom, and Sidon. 2 He married them even though the Lord had commanded the Israelites not to intermarry with these people, because they would cause the Israelites to give their loyalty to other gods. 3 Solomon married seven hundred princesses and also had three hundred concubines. 

Verse 11

Therefore the Lord said to Solomon, Because you are doing this and have not kept My covenant and My statutes, which I have commanded you, I will surely rend the kingdom from you and will give it to your servant!

Solomon was not a puppet king. God did not force him to do what was right. Rather, God laid out His will, blessed Solomon with wisdom, and expected the king to obey. In his later years, Solomon chose to disobey, and he was held accountable for his decisions.

It is instructive to note that  toward the end of Solomon’s life in The book of Ecclesiastes, God used him to write the rest of the story. 

Throughout Ecclesiastes, Solomon tells us everything he tried in order to find fulfillment apart from God in this world, or “under the sun.” 

He says in Ecclesiastes 2:8 “I amassed silver and gold for myself, and the treasure of kings and provinces. I acquired . . . a harem as well–the delights of the heart of man 

But his harem did not bring happiness. Instead, “Everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun” (verse 11).

“Here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole [duty] of man” (12:13).”

Popular religious leader and general overseer of The Spiritual Director, Adoration Ministry Enugu Nigeria Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka has said that neither president Muhammadu Buhari nor PDP presidential flagbearer Atiku Abubakar is the answer to Nigeria’s struggles.

Mbaka described Atiku as bureau de change, according to him, because of the foreign currencies that allegedly exchanged hands at the National Convention of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, before the ex-VP emerged the party’s presidential candidate.

Mbaka, however, predicted that Atiku will defeat Buhari in 2019 but warned him not to emulate Buhari if he is elected the president. The fiery cleric said this while addressing his congregation at the Adoration Ground.

“So let the will of God be done in Nigeria. It is like what I have been saying Buhari change or you will be changed” Mbaka said that Buhari had all the human and material resources at his disposal to make the country better but rather chose to play ethnic, despotic politics.

“What will it take you; change the Chief of Staff, change B, change C, change this and change that; even if it will take 20 Igbo men or 20 Yoruba men to change Nigeria; take all of them. Look at what (Chukwuma) Soludo did in the Central Bank; he has assured Nigeria and the whole world that there is nothing like bank collapse again.

“An Igbo man did this, why can’t Buhari take Soludo for the economic revival and revamping of Nigeria’s economy? And you are busy talking about corruption, playing game with the lives of Nigerians from the issue of Fulani herdsmen to Boko Haram to Jos killings. You said somebody stole, what did he steal?

“Someday, they said the government has spent trillions of naira on social investment scheme and I want to know who are the people they were spending the money on; the Vice President said they are giving N10,000 to small-scale businesses and I asked, is this how they will transform Nigeria? You give somebody N10,000 for business, what type of business will N10,000 start?

“Somebody will have billions and want to take the one belonging to the public while hunger will be killing his people. Look at the type of money they shared during the primaries to the extent that they brought Bureau de Change. They said Buhari is change, but Atiku is bureau de change. They were sharing the money in dollars and it was going out in millions of dollars in Nigeria where hunger is killing people; where you don’t have food to eat.

“If they spend such monies to get the ticket, how do you think that when they get into power they will rule, of course, they will first recover the money they have spent but the worst is that the money was not being shared to the poor,” he lamented.

Speaking further, the prophet described the cost of APC Expression of Interest and Nomination forms as outrageous. According to him, if the leadership of the party had a conscience, they would not have collected N24 million from people to obtain the forms.

“There are some people that sold their land to pay for this form because of the promise they were made. I don’t think these politicians were thinking of heaven that is why they are ready to kill anybody that stands on their way,” he said.

Mbaka said that Atiku may not be able to solve the problems of Nigeria if he emerged victorious. “If anybody is thinking that if Atiku becomes the President of Nigeria things will get better, ‘who born you’ because for this country to be good it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than this country to be good,” he said, urging that Nigerians must do their part to make Nigeria the nation of their dream.

The fiery preacher predicted defeat for the APC but said that there was still an opportunity for change. “There are no people that will develop this country that are not in Nigeria. We have people who will develop this nation, but our President left the same type of people who don’t have the same type of vision around him and everything they do is in your head.

“After you are removed, they will bring people that will flog you because you messed up the opportunities because you didn’t listen to the word of God. You didn’t listen to the man of God you have and you were disobeying him. “The price of disobedience is disgrace,” he declared.

The General Overseer of The Lord's Chosen Charismatic Revival Movement, Pastor Lazarus Muoka, has again, barred armed robbers, prostitutes, cult­ists, women on trousers and kidnappers from giving offerings, pledges and paying tithes in the church.

This is even as the revival preacher urged Nigerians to turn to God in repentance for divine intervention that would lead to the revival of economic and political fortunes of the country.

Preaching to hundreds of thousands of worshipers that converged on the headquarters of the church at Ijesha, Lagos for the last lap of the two-day crusade, Muoka harped that God is not interested in ill-gotten wealth and riches but want everybody to worship him in truth and in spirit.

His words: “If you are here and you are an armed robber, a kid­napper, cultist, adulterer, among others and you don’t want to re­pent, please we urge you not to give offering, tithe or pledge be­cause we are here to lead people to Christ and not money.

“The God who called us is al­ways with us and we know that God will supply all our needs including money to finance the church. We urge you to repent from all evil and God will forgive you and give you good business that conforms with the word of God.

“We may not know you but God knows you and will judge you if you go against His will.”

Nothing is impossible for God to do! On Sunday, February 7, 2016, a dead child was allegedly raised back to life at the popular Mountain Miracle and Liberation Ministries, aka Liberation City in Lagos.

The occurrence which was like a scene from a movie left everyone in the church stunned. The 6-month old child said to have been ill for weeks was brought to the church by her parents for prayers. Unfortunately, the child gave up the ghost as soon as they arrived the church.

Her frantic parents eventually wept and pushed their way through to the podium where Pastor Chris Okafor, was ministering to other people. He took the child from them and started praying...

Then he dropped the child on the altar and commanded her spirit to come back and, to the surprise of all, the child moved! The congregation exploded in tumultuous praise as the child continued to move.

The child came back to life and even drank some water. Hallelujah...I say to God alone be the glory!

Popular Catholic priest, Reverend Father Ejike Mbaka has been moved to a new duty post at Our Lady Parish, Umuchigbo, Njinike accompanied by hundreds of his parishioners admirers and well wishers.

He relocated on Saturday after he was transferred from Christ the King parish, GRA, Enugu where he had, over the years, built a cult like fellowship on the strength of precision of most of his prophecies and miracles recorded during prayer sessions at his Adoration Centre.

Father Mbaka prophesised the emergence of President Muhammadu Buhari ahead of last election and also warned him last month of a plot to kill him.

His followers believe he's being punished. Mbaka himself said his new posting is a witch hunt.

As early as 7am on Saturday, a crowd had started forming at the Christ the King parish Enugu preparatory for the movement. Several lorry loads, buses and cars filled with people lined the streets as he made his way to Emene.

Band groups dished out music to which people were dancing. In fact, some were overcome by emotion to the extent that they broke down in tears.

Social and economic activities along major streets came to a halt. The journey lasted four hours.

It was a triumphal exit for Father Mbaka as he addressed the crowd and said: “I know we are going to suffer between now and a few months to come. I am going to suffer and suffer. I know that.

“I’m going to suffer because I have no place to put my head. I am going to suffer because I have no place to keep the Adoration Ministry’s assets.

“I know I’m going to suffer. Fortunately, it is going to happen in the month of lent. So, I am going to use my exit here as a Lenten observance but Jesus said it all in John 16:20 to his apostles that you will be sorrowful and the world will be rejoicing but very soon I will turn your sorrow to joy.

“But for now I know you are going to suffer. The Adoration Ministry is passing through suffering right now even though I’ve accepted that is the will of God. Is the will of God through suffering? It is a mega suffering

“The quantum of the assets of the Adoration Ministry is the only thing I am bothered about for now.

“Where am I going to keep them? I am going to stay in one small room that has only one small bed, one small table, little toilet and bathroom. So where am I going to keep all the adoration assets?

“My clothing and books I can keep in the car or somebody’s house but where will I keep these assets that I have given to the Catholic church of Enugu?

“But I say may God take the glory and whoever that has offended me, I have forgiven.

“I won’t fight anybody or even dream of battling anybody. If anybody allows the devil to use him, the same that advised you to make a mistake will laugh at you when you cry over the error. The baby is born, there is no going back.

“We are moving out. We have been doing it and we will do it again. Moses was going out with a rod in his hand, Mbaka is moving out with his Bible and this nobody can take away from me.”

I am telling you people as a courageous leader, do not be afraid. "We are moving and in not distant time, you people are going to smile."

Father in Heaven, you always provide for all your creatures so that all may live as you have willed. You have blessed our country Nigeria with rich human and natural resources to be used to your honour and glory and for the well-being of every Nigeria. We are deeply sorry for the wrong use of these your gifts and blessing through act of injustice, bribery and corruption, as a result of which many of our people are hungry, sick ignorant and defenseless. Father, you alone can heal us and our nation of this sickness. We beg you, touch our lives and the lives of our leaders and people so that we may all realise the evil of bribery and corruption and work hard to eliminate it. Raise up for us God fearing people and leaders who care for us and who will lead us in the part of peace, prosperity and progress. We ask the through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

WHY THE CHURCH SEEMS TO BE COLLAPSING TODAY….

In a nutshell – THE DAY OF MAN RUNNING THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST IS OVER!!! For the Day of the Lord is fast approaching, and His genuine bride must PREPARE THE WAY OF THE LORD for His imminent return.

Those who prefer a more detailed response will find the answer in both the Old and New Testaments. “The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, PREPARE YE THE WAY of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.” (Isaiah 40:3). And when Jesus eventually arrived, He echoed this Scripture in Luke 7:27, “This is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall PREPARE THY WAY before thee.”

The meaning is crystal clear – BEFORE THE ARRIVAL OF THE LORD, HIS WAY MUST BE PREPARED. This is a divine imperative that cannot be violated. As it was at the FIRST COMING of Jesus Christ, so exactly will it also be at His SECOND COMING. And the way to prepare the way of the Lord is to urgently call His people back to repentance, call them to return to the ancient path. This is what John the Baptist did until he was beheaded (Matthew 3:2). And this is exactly what the Lord is doing today in raising men and women to urgently call His people back to repentance as His return becomes more and more imminent. 

ONLY those who have an ear will hear this clarion call, and return to the Lord – for indeed many believers will NOT return. Significantly, the church system of today will definitely not return to the Lord. Before buttressing this point, it is important to, again, draw a parallel between what occurred before the first coming of Christ, with what is happening today as His second coming draws near.

Before the first coming, the temple of the Lord had been hijacked by men. Hijacked by the Chief Priests that were appointed by God to act in the temple on His behalf. In exactly the same way, before the second coming, the church of the Lord has been hijacked by men. Hijacked by the pastors that were anointed by God to act in the church on His behalf. It is a pattern, and it is a warning – to those who have understanding.

In rebuking the leaders of the temple in His days, please listen to what Jesus told them: “This people honoureth me with their lips, but THEIR HEART IS FAR FROM ME. Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the TRADITION OF MEN … that ye may keep your own TRADITION…. Making the word of God of none effect through YOUR TRADITION….” (Mark 7:6-13).

It is exactly in the same way that the church is today being run by the TRADITIONS OF MEN, not by the biblical precepts established by Jesus and His Apostles. And the difference is visible. Many people, including unbelievers, liken the church of today to a business centre, or a commercial enterprise. In contrast, is there any way that the church that we read about in the Bible can be described as a business centre? The answer is of course NO! But today, men have taken over the running of the church. They have instituted their own ideas and principles; and so, Christ is no longer at the centre of His own church that He purchased with His own blood. The church has moved away from her ancient foundation, and is now hanging on the precipice of man's finite wisdom.

For long, God has tolerated this system in His mercy. But NOW, because the return of Jesus is drawing near, things have changed! The WAY OF THE LORD IS BEING PREPARED. “Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain: And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed…. (Isaiah 40:4-5). 

For every valley to be exalted today, repentance must be preached. For every mountain and hill to be made low, repentance must be preached. For every crooked path to be made straight, repentance must be preached. For every rough place to be made plain, repentance must be preached. The glory of the Lord will only be revealed when His way has been prepared through the repentance of His people. Therefore, REPENTANCE, urgent repentance, is the message on the heart of the Lord for His people today – for the time is very short.

But hardly would you hear most of our ‘big’ men of God reflecting this urgent divine cry for repentance. They may mention it once in a while, but it is NOT the heartbeat of their message today. Do you know why? They are no longer hearing the heavenly signals clearly. The signal of money has dulled their hearing capacity. The signal of ‘large crowds’ has dulled their hearing. The signal of gigantic cathedrals, bigger jets, bigger universities, and other carnal acquisitions have dulled their hearing. But because time is short, God is moving on. And that is why He is today using unknown ‘small’ men and women to call His genuine children back to repentance, back to Himself.

The church system of today will NOT repent. Too much is at stake. The institutions and systems we call ‘church’ today have been built on carnal wisdom, falsehood, and deception. And THEY CAN ONLY CONTINUE TO BE SUSTAINED ON THESE FALSE FOUNDATIONS. This is why they will not repent.

If these institutions dare to repent, and to follow the genuine Jesus, they will suffer HUGE LOSSES. Our men of God will suffer the loss of all that they have built over the years. They will suffer loss of effort, loss of face, loss of esteem, loss of dignity, loss of relevance, loss of possession, etc. How many General Overseers or Pastors want to go through all that???

Every spiritual man and woman knows this fact – there comes a time when a man/institution may grow too rich/big to go back to repentance. It happened to the rich, young ruler in Matthew 19:16-22. That’s why He could not follow Jesus. Too much was at stake! It also happened to the Church in Laodicea (Revelation 3:14-22). That’s why they could not heed the call of Jesus to repent from their blindness and nakedness. Too much was at stake! In that story, Jesus had to go out and to start knocking on the door of WILLING HEARTS; knocking and asking for fellowship on the basis of truth, and on the basis of communion with the Father and with Himself (verse 20).

The story of the Laodicean church is a metaphor for our days. A metaphor for how the church will become so rich in our days that we will become oblivious of our blindness, nakedness, poverty, and wretchedness. A metaphor for how we will fail to hear the call of the Master for urgent repentance. A metaphor for how the Lord will, once again, begin to knock at the door of the hearts of the remnants that can still hear His gentle wooing for repentance. This is exactly the same way that Jesus abandoned the temple system for the Jewish leaders and reached out to the remnants that He turned into His disciples. It is a divine pattern. And it was written for our admonition – at least, for those who still have an ear!

Friend, do you still have an ear? Does that ear still hear the heartbeat of the Father for the hour? Or are you confusing the voice of the church system for the voice of the Father? Are you confusing religiosity for spirituality? The two are radically different.

The falsehood in the church system is not new. This falsehood has been perpetrated for decades and decades. The only reason it is becoming glaring in our days is because God is now opening our eyes to see what we have been blind to. God is opening our eyes to see the error in the church system, so that we can make an informed choice. Will you choose Christ, and His way of the cross? Or will you continue to flow with the deceptive church system?

Many have become bewitched in the church system. Many have become gullible in the church system. Many have become entrapped by their own fears and desires in the church system. So deep is the confusion today that many believe that to leave the church system is to leave Christ!!! But in reality, for many, to leave the church system is TO GENUINELY FIND CHRIST. For many, to leave the church system is to re-discover the genuine Christ they once knew and served. And this is why leaving the church system is a healthy, positive and desirable step for many genuine believers.

If the coming of the Lord catches you by surprise in the church system, at least, it will be clear that YOU MADE THAT CHOICE. For ultimately, each of us will bear the personal responsibility of giving account of our lives to God. Through THE TRUTH, Jesus Christ offers us the liberty of FREEDOM (John 8:32). And He paid for that freedom with His precious blood. That blood is still available to set us free from the bondage of the church system.

Please let us study the Bible ourselves through the help of the Holy Spirit. Let us cast aside the false Jesus that the church system has ingrained into our spiritual psyche. In finding the genuine Jesus Christ, we will indeed discover life as God intends. May the Lord give us hearts and ears that recognise the voice of the true Shepherd. And as He leads us in the narrow path, may we find the grace and courage to follow Him faithfully to the end. Amen and Amen.

 Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, Senior Pastor of Kingsway International Christian Centre, KICC,has advised president Buhari to ensure that ,just 20 per cent of governance time is dedicated to the past, “otherwise, it will take forever for majority of Nigerians to see changes.

He said going by Parento’s Principle, the Federal Government should dedicate 20 per cent of its resources to going after perceived looters, while 80 per cent should be given to creating an enabling environment for Nigerians,Vanguard reports..
