How SMEs Can Access Debt, Equity Financing Seamlessly, by Stanbic IBTC Bank

How SMEs Can Access Debt, Equity Financing Seamlessly, by Stanbic IBTC Bank

Capital is the single most important factor necessary for the sustainable growth of small and medium scale enterprises, head, SME Banking, Stanbic IBTC Bank, Mr. Obinna Ukachukwu, has said.

He gave this clarification at the 2016 Global Possibilities Summit of Inspired Woman of Worth (iWOW) network which held in Lagos, recently.

Ukachukwu, who was a guest speaker and panelist at the summit, spoke on ‘How to Find, Create, Manage, Grow and Keep Real Money for your Business’.

He said without capital it would be difficult for any business to attract finance or investment. He defined capital as the value of and the history behind a business. According to him, if a promoter of a business does not know the value of the business, it is very unlikely that any investor or financier will be comfortable committing their money because the equity or debt investor is bringing in money in exchange for value.

“If you don’t know the value of your business then you do not expect a debt investor to put in his money,” Ukachukwu said. He, however, assured that Stanbic IBTC Bank continues to work with operators in the SME sector, particularly through capacity building and information sharing, to ensure they build capital. He explained that the value of a business can be determined if the proper structures, such as proper book keeping, annual reports, tax returns, auditor’s report, and record of banking transactions, which form the history of the business, have been put in place.

He therefore encouraged business owners and entrepreneurs to engage the services of professionals to ensure the right structures are in place. “When you have generated capital, you have determined your business’ worth, you then need someone to attest to that in form of documentations, whether it is your banker, your auditor or your tax man. Having these in place will make it easier for you to attract debt or equity financing,” Ukachukwu stated.

He expressed confidence that Stanbic IBTC Bank will continue to assist the growth of micro, small and medium scale enterprises through targeted product and service offerings. According to him, the Stanbic IBTC SME seminars and the Virtual Business Centre (BizDirect) are two of the bank’s interventions to help build capacity and share needed information.

Stanbic IBTC Bank is a subsidiary of Stanbic IBTC Holdings PLC, a full service financial services group with a clear focus on three main business pillars - Corporate and Investment Banking, Personal and Business Banking and Wealth Management.

Standard Bank Group, to which Stanbic IBTC Holdings belongs, is rooted in Africa with strategic representation in 20 key sub-Saharan countries and other emerging markets; Standard Bank has been in operation for over 151 years and is focused on building first-class on-the-ground financial services organisations in chosen countries in Africa and connecting other selected emerging markets to Africa and to each other.

SEE GOBE: Naija Lady Gives Her Lover 280k to Marry Her, but He Got Another Girl Pregnant

Any relationship where money is the focal point will collapse like a park of cards, only a matter of time.

29yrs old Chukwuemeka Obodozie has been arrested and charged before a Magistrate’s court sitting in Ejigbo, Lagos, for allegedly obtaining N280,000 from his lover, Ogechi Obinma, under the false pretence that he would engage her and they get married.

The money was said to be part of their bargain to get married. But why did she fall so cheaply?

According to Ogechi, Chukwuemeka told her he needed money to clear goods that his elder brother sent to him from abroad, to enable them perform an introduction and traditional marriage. Unknown to her, Chukwuemeka had perfected plans to dump her and marry the woman he had already impregnated.

When Ogechi later went to his house, she saw a woman heavily pregnant and when she asked to know who she was, Chukwuemeka confessed that he impregnated the woman and needed money to take care of her and that was why he demanded the money from her.

He asked her to forget the money and see it as a prize she had to pay for their relationship that lasted for over two years. Ogechi accepted her fate but requested that Chukwuemeka paid her money in full as she would not be responsible for the finance of his marriage.

When she insisted, Chukwuemeka reportedly threatened to kill her, he threatened her at her house and office in Ikotun area of Lagos.

The matter was reported to the police at Ikotun and Chukwuemeka was arrested and charged to court with obtaining money under false pretence and threat to life.

When he was arraigned, as usual he pleaded not guilty.

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs J.O.E Adeyemi granted Chukwuemeka bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum. The case has been adjourned till April 18, 2016.

Oops, biting my thumbs,Cynthia Morgan goes back to taking cabs after losing her Range Rover to thieves

Jude Okoye's signee, Cynthia Morgan, whose white Range Rover automobile was stolen few weeks ago, now moves around in taxis, Naij reports.
A source revealed to Naij that, at the moment, she is quite down psychologically and emotionally. She has also decided to be indoors, keeping to herself most of the time.
.
.
The source was quoted as saying: “But if it is important for her to go out, she takes taxis. I actually understand her grief because she said goodbye to that club barely six months ago when the Range Rover arrived, but she is back to square one now. It hurts everybody.”
.
.
The car was allegedly stolen about two weeks ago from a compound in Omole Phase1. The driver, who was later arrested by Cynthia, was the first to report the theft incident at Grammar School police station, Ojodu, Lagos. Efforts to recover it have so far proven abortive. Cynthia was away in Abuja as at the time of the theft.

Please anyone with her contact to tell her I got a Grand Cherokee jeep 1994 model at a very affordable price.

Convicted Boko Haram members can't be sentenced to death- Mallam Abubakar Malami

The Attorney General of the Federation, Mallam Abubakar Malami, who was represented by Sylvester Imahanobe at the launch of amnesty’s report on Global Death Sentences and Executions 2015, in Abuja, yesterday said that convicted Boko Haram members could not be sentenced to death because they were tried under the Terrorism Prevention Act.

 He said:

“Terrorists in Nigeria are tried under the Terrorism Prevention Act which does not carry death penalty. That is why even those Boko Haram members, who have been convicted cannot be executed because the maximum sentence prescribed by the law is life sentence.”

He said they are willing to support whatever bill Amnesty International proposes in regards to the abolition of death sentence because according to him, studies conducted have shown that the death penalty has not stopped people from committing crimes.

He also said that they are working towards making sure that the prison system was corrective and not punitive.

Wizkid royal rumbles with Linda Ikeji

Wizkid royal rumbles with Linda Ikeji

Oh no, she didn’t!!! In new article posted on her blog, Linda Ikeji responded to Wizkid calling her an old, ugly bitch among other things.

She did not hold back and even spilled even more tea about the “25 year old” singer.

She started out lowkey saying,

So my darling little ‘friend’ Wizkid came on my IG page this morning to blast me for writing yesterday that he was given quit notice at the Lekki home he claimed he bought some years ago, which he actually rented. He threatened to beat me up…called me an ugly old bitch…(I’m ugly? lol) says I don’t have a man (crying over that..) and called my mum a loser…(what a child).

Anyway, all that don’t matter, people have said worse to me…what I wanted to address is the part where he said I slept with his director and he left me in a hotel…that one I will definitely want to address because some people actually believe it. That my dear friends, is a lie!

She then went on to emphasize that she has had no contact with Wizkid before nor anybody affiliated with him. She says she keeps from entertainers altogether and is mostly celibate ().

First and foremost, I’ve never met Wizkid one on one. I’ve only seen him once in real life on stage at a show a few years ago. I’ve never met anybody who is his director. Guess he put that line in his comments to defame me. You that mad that people now know the house is not yours? Lol.

Trust me, if I knew someone was Wizkid’s director, I’d rather kill myself than sleep with him or any other entertainer for that matter (except maybe he’s my husband..hehe) because I know how some of these entertainers are…they kiss and tell a lot. You can’t afford to be messing around in their circle. So, no, I have NEVER slept with Wizkid’s director. I live a celibate life..most of the time. (Though, that has to end soon…I’m getting old and missing out on that part of life…lol)

I’ve always been an advocate of women respecting their bodies and owning their own. And I feel sex should only happen when you’re in committed relationship (that is if you can’t wait till marriage) and I recommend celibacy for a long as you’re not committed to someone. There’s absolutely no dignity in sleeping around and messing around with different men. It’s ugly and God don’t like ugly. So no, I’m not that woman, and will never be that woman. Nice try, Wizkid!

After clearing that, she then went further to expose more details of her and Wizkid’s interesting relationship. According to her, Wizkid even tried reaching out to her with an olive branch but she didn’t bite since she has no problem with him.

Having said that, I’m sure, you wonder why Wizkid is so mad at me? To be honest, I don’t know either. All I know is that his beef with me started a long time ago but he decided to start bashing me online after I refused a meeting with him. A few months ago, he asked his PR people to contact me, that he wanted to talk to me. For some reason, he thought I didn’t like him and I was hurting his image online. He wanted to see how I could write more positive things about him but I turned down the meeting. Not that I have anything against him, I sincerely don’t! I think he’s an amazing talent and one of the few music stars in Nigeria with a midas touch. So this wasn’t personal. I just didn’t want to meet him. If he lobbies me then it means I won’t be able to write anything about him anymore…and my job is to write…about everything, including entertainers.

I am cordial with some of them…many of them I have never met. I try to stay away from gatherings where they are because the more friends you make in the entertainment industry, the less you can write. And that will inadvertently affect your work. The few ones that I call acquaintances, it’s hard to write about them because you feel you’re cool with them and even when you write, they call you to complain. So, the fewer ‘friends’ I have in the entertainment industry, the better my job will be.

So Wizkid can bash me all he wants…but I will continue to do my job. Maybe he thinks the more he bashes me, then I will stop writing about him? Won’t work. But meanwhile, if he tells a lie about me, I will address it. LIB plans to be around for a long time…some of these people will come and go! :-).

Thanks everyone and Wizkid’s fans for reading my response.

Then as if that was not enough, Linda fired off more shots by announcing that Wizkid’s luxury car does not belong to him either! Then fired off one last parting shot.

Oh and by the way, did I mention that his Porsche car is also on hire purchase? Oh shit, I just mentioned that! And no, darling, you’re not 25! We know your real age! Continue to have an amazing career while I watch and continue to celebrate you.
Kisses

So there it is, wide out in the open. What do you make of all these revelations?

(Photos)Mother Admits To Sleeping With 15 Yr Old Son, They Have A Baby Together

(Photos)Mother Admits To Sleeping With 15 Yr Old Son, They Have A Baby Together

This is unbelievable ..Read what this woman wrote this on her facebook page

“For those who don’t know, me and my 15 year old son had a baby last year together. I had sex with him when he was 14 years old. The baby came out fine. Just to let you know, I also have three (3) daughters who are thirteen (13), fourteen (14), and sixteen (16).
My son is a great dad and also a great boyfriend to me.
This all started when I realized that I started to get feelings for him I decided to have a one and one talk with him. I told him “mommy loves you more than what it means to just be a mommy to you”. I also told him that “mommy likes you just like how a girl from school likes you.
I explained everything to him and got him to understand and he felt the same way as I did as he began to ask questions. He asked “so does that mean that we can kiss and hold hands like boyfriend and girlfriend?” I told him yes and even sex

Buhari may be Nigeria's President, but these are 7 powerful People He cannot 'touch' (Photos)

Buhari may be Nigeria's President, but these are 7 powerful People He cannot 'touch' (Photos)

President Muhammadu Buhari may be the most powerful person in Nigeria by virtue of his position, however, there are some people he holds in high esteem.

For this reason, many have insisted that the president cannot touch these people regardless of whatever wrong the Nigerian public has associated their names with.

These people, also, are part of the shakers and movers of the Nigerian political scene, although occasionally from the background, they are behind certain decisions made by President Buhari (which Nigerians get to see).

NAIJ.com has compiled a list of seven such people and present them below:

Chief Olusegun Obasanjo

Touted as one of Nigeria’s strongest politicians ever, Obasanjo, a former Nigerian president, is one of the ‘untouchable’ Nigerians in this age.

Despite the fact that many calls have been made by many Nigerians and different groups for the probe of the former military ruler, he has never for once been invited for questioning by the anti-graft agencies over any form of misappropriation.

He has also been within the corridors of power since he became Nigeria’s democratically-elected president in 1999. Chief Obasanjo, a respected Ogun high chief, has also parleyed with every president who has emerged he left the post.

Ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo wants Nigerians to shun violence and embrace peace.

Major General Abdulsalami Abubakar

His eleven-month rule over Nigeria (from June 1998-May 1999), especially because of the manner in which he relinquished power to a civilian, has earned him a legendary status in Nigeria.

Whether or not he is guilty of any form of corrupt act, Abdulsalami has overseen many of the conflict resolution committees in the country, and was also reportedly among those who aided ex-president Goodluck Jonathan in making that invaluable call to President Muhammadu Buhari to concede defeat in last year’s presidential election.

And despite the fact that his name has been consistently mentioned in the infamous Halliburton scandal, there has not been any reason for him to be invited over for questioning.

Abdulsalami Abubakar says national untiy needed to help the govt fight Boko Haram.

Ex-president Goodluck Jonathan

Nigeria’s former president’s administration has been termed the most corrupt in the country’s history, this is no longer news, but  Nigerians have been stunned that he is yet to be invited by the anti-graft.

Such was the corruption under his administration that The Economist referred to him as anineffectual buffoon for watching his ministers and cronies swindle monies under his watchful eyes.

The reason for this is not far fetched, he is one of the most powerful Nigerians who remain untouchable for the present Nigerian president.

Unconfirmed sources revealed that one of the reasons he made that call to President Buhari after losing the March 2015 presidential election, was because he had been promised a soft-landing as soon as he relinquishes power smoothly.

After his loss, he has been invited to countless events, where he has been asked to mentor upcoming leaders, as well as other African leaders on peace and conflict resolution.

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar

One of those fingered in the Halliburton case, Nigeria’s former vice president is surely one of the most powerful Nigerians in this generation.

He is not just one of the stakeholders in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Atiku ranks as one of those who make decisions in the northern part of the country.

There were even reports that there was friction between him and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the 2019 presidency, as he was believed to have started parleying with some of his loyalists to take over from President Buhari.

But, in spite of all the claims made against Atiku, President Buhari is said to hold him in high esteem and cannot seem to find any fault against him.

Atiku is also one of the many philanthropic Nigerians, and this gesture has endeared him to many.

Former vice president, Atiku Abubakar is surely a powerful Nigerian.

General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida

Another name mentioned in the infamous Halliburton Scandal, General Babangida is another Nigerian who remains ever powerful.

Fondly referred to as ‘Maradona’, the former Military president has been acting behind the scene since he left office in 1993.

He is mostly famous in the Nigerian political sphere for his annulment of the June 12, 1993 presidential which late Moshood Kashimawo Abiola was believed to have won among other corruption allegations.

Many groups and bodies have called for his probe as they believe his regime was the most corrupt of all former Nigerian military heads, but like others on this list, he remains one of those President Buhari is yet to invite for questioning.

Perhaps, a day is coming when the Halliburton scandal would be reopened and he would be mentioned for questioning. But at the moment, he remains an untouchable political figure operating from the background.

Even Wikipedia refers to him as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Ex-military president, Ibrahim Babangida is also among those fingered in the Halliburton scandal.

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu

The Jagaban of Borgu, as he is fondly called, is arguably the most powerful politician in the country at this moment.

The former two-term governor of Lagos state and national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), almost single-handedly oversaw the ouster of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2015 general elections and has attained a legendary status in the country (especially among Yorubas) ever since.

But, then, he has been plagued with series of controversial allegations.

Many believe that he has many skeletons in his cupboard, but then he has never been convicted of committing any corrupt act.

He remains one of the shakers of Nigeria’s economy and about the greatest decision maker in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) despite the fact that he is only a national leader of the party.

Some Nigerians even believe that he is as strong as President Buhari or even stronger.

Rotimi Amaechi

He is touted as the Lion of Niger Delta, Rotimi Amaechi is one of Nigeria’s most rugged politicians.

Amaechi, a former governor of Rivers state, is Nigeria’s minister of transport, having gone through a stern screening session at the National Assembly.

His screening was postponed severally because there were reports of corruption allegations against him from certain quarters in his native Rivers state, but when it eventually held, Amaechi noted publicly that he had never collected bribe in his life.

President Buhari had been asked to probe the former Speaker of the Rivers state House of Assembly, for corruption as many also believe he dug into the state’s coffers to ensure the APC won the last general elections, a major reason sources say the president cannot probe him.

About two weeks ago, there was violence in the Niger Delta state and Amaechi was in the state and allegedly contributed to the malpractice in the election.

Yet, the president still rates him as one of his most trusted allies, especially within the APC caucus. Maybe the former governor would be invited for questioning in the coming months, but as things stand now, President Buhari cannot still touch him.

Rotimi Amaechi is regarded as the Lion of Niger Delta.

Do you agree with this list? Any addition or subtraction?

101-YEAR-OLD WOMAN GIVES BIRTH AFTER SUCCESSFUL OVARY TRANSPLANT

101-YEAR-OLD WOMAN GIVES BIRTH AFTER SUCCESSFUL OVARY TRANSPLANT

January 7th, 2016 | by Bob Flanagan

NAPOLI | Anatolia Vertadella, a 101-year-old Italian woman, has given birth to a 9-pound baby after a controversial ovary transplant widely criticized by medical professionals because of her advanced age, reports the Rivista Napoli.

The illegal and controversial surgical operation was done in a private clinic in Turkey, where European laws on ovary transplants do not apply, admits the centennial mother who does not wish to disclose the name of the clinic where the operation was undertaken.

“I am very grateful to all the team of doctors who decided to go on with the operation,” she admitted in tears. “I am so grateful to have given birth to my 17th child. This is a true blessing and a testament to the power of the creator,” she told local reporters.

“For so long I have felt useless to God, I could not procreate since I turned 48 years old when I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. For a long time I believed God was punishing me for only bearing 16 children, but in his godly generosity, he has granted me with fertility once again,” acknowledges the century-old fervent Catholic.

Dr. Alexandro Popolicchi fully endorses the controversial ovary transplant, which is deemed illegal under European health laws, and which was undertaken in a private clinic in Turkey where such laws do not apply

God’s gift

Although he admits the procedure is highly controversial, Dr. Popolicchi believes the ultimate decision  was up to his patient to make.

“Who am I to judge if it is the proper thing to do? She has given birth to a beautiful baby and this miraculous birth is definitely a gift from God!” he told reporters. “The operation was completely legal in Turkey and undertaken by a handful of expert surgeons. The lady is in great health for her age and I predict she has still a many good years in front of her to share with her child. So many children are born in this world unwanted or by accident. Is it not a beautiful thing to know this child comes to life in a loving home?” he asked reporters.

An anonymous father

Although Miss Vertadella’s husband has passed away since 1998, the century-old widow has managed to find a sperm donor to make the birth possible.

“I met Francesco’s father on the internet while trying to find a father to my child. This 26-year-old man is a Catholic and that is all that is important to me. I wanted my child to be born in a union sanctified by the Catholic church. I know we are not married and that he will not play a part in Francesco’s life, but I have written to the pope to ask his absolution. I have also named my child after the pope in his honor and so I believe he should find a place in his heart to forgive me in this particular situation. I still love my deceased husband and desire to stay a widow until I leave this earth, but I needed the seed of this young fervent Catholic to fulfill God’s will,” she explained.

Malegwale Ramokgopa allegedly gave birth to her 25th and 26th child in 1931 at the venerable age of 92

The world’s oldest mother was previously believed to be Malegwale Ramokgopa, a woman born in South Africa in 1839 who allegedly gave birth to twins three days after celebrating her 92nd anniversary on October 3, 1931, which made nation-wide headlines at the time.
